My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.
The Heart Rhythm Society did a few randomized trials to assess the efficacy of calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers and digoxin in SVT. A comparison of verapamil, propranolol and digoxin showed equivalent efficacy in a small group of patients. However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes.
She had no chest pain, only palpitations and general weakness. She took 1 mg digoxin PO and eventually the episode resolved. Had two more similar episodes in the past year: tachy with normal BP brought on by exertion. EKG was normal the next day.
She's a dear family member who doesn't live in the states and her doctor didn't believe her when she described the episode.
High ventricular rate leads to insufficient diastolic filling time. Digoxin slows down the conduction in the AV node and increases its refractory period, and it can reduce the ventricular rate. The arrhythmia itself is not affected, but the pumping function of the heart improves by improved filling.
The use of digoxin in heart problems during sinus rhythm was once standard.
After five days I was sent home still in A-fib. Ten days later I was put on Cozaar , Coumadin and Digoxin. That night my heart self-converted.
Is it common for A-fib to self-convert after being in constant A-fib tachycardia for 15 days?

My daughter-in-law who is 23 weeks pregnant was told that the baby's heartbeat is 220. They are monitoring her with a high-risk specialist and a pediatric cardiologist. Over the last 3 weeks, the heartbeat has remained high, but stable. How dangerous is this? What are the odds of it damaging the baby's heart and/or the baby not making it? They have talked about Digoxin if the heartbeat goes up to 260. What would that mean for the mother's health?
The abnormals are mitral valve leaflets thickened, aortic vavlular sclerosis, diastolic transmitral e/a ratio decreased suggesting diastolic relaxation impairment, mild mr and mild tr present
I am 39 with a history of tachycardia. I am currently taking digoxin 250mcg twice a day. Even with that my heart rate is still in the high 90's resting. I have low blood pressure, Digoxin has been the only medicine that hasn't dropped my blood pressure lower.
They gave me a beta blocker and a shot of digoxin and told me I had tachycardia. I went to my cardiologist, she increased my digoxin from .25 to .375 and told me that my potassium level was on the lower end of normal to eat a banana or drink a glass of OJ daily. I had asked her if she thought it was some sort of panic attack (I have no prior panic attacks) with really no response other than lets monitor for the next 3 months.

I have symptoms of shortness of breath, a dry cough, extreme fatigue, short term memory loss, extreme joint pain and stiffness, poor balance, weakness at times, vision gets dark at times, neck and throat soreness. digoxin, and toprolol. niether of them worked. My dr. now wants to put me on flecanide next. Which with that i will have to be put in the hospital. I had really bad side effects with the toprolol and am ver scared to start this new drug. i don't have high blood pressure so the beta blockers were just making me more tired. i have very bad palpatations and irregular heartbeats. we also talked about a surgery, called the "mini maze' which is performed by a dr.
I am a 37 yr old female diagnosed about four years ago with Atrial Fibrillation, Sub Ventricular Tachycardia and Mitral Valve Prolapse. I can't take beta blockers or channel blockers or digoxin and hypersensitivity to other drugs. Electrocardiologist says the condition is rare, one in a thousand. I suspect it may be higher. The worst side-effect for me was memory loss. Someone asked my daughter's last name, and I didn't know. I have afib and tachycardia, so I'm scheduled for an ablation..
The benadryl might, as it can, be causing you worse tachycardia?
Diagnosed by tilt table with P.O.T.S. in 2004, I suspect I have that form of P.O.T.S. (hyperadrenergic) due to various abnormal catecholamine type numbers in a number of lab tests. Medicines that were tried and discontinued for either side effects or not helping- lopressor, florinef, midodrine, and verapamil. Currently, I am not being treated by any physician for my P.O.T.S..
One on December 6, 2008 (240 bpm for @ 9 minutes, another 5 minutes to get down to 120 bpm) and then she was put on medication, Digoxin 0.125 mg). Then on Dec. 2, 2008, she had another episode that was 260 bpm for @ 15 minutes. She has appt. sched for Jan 15 with local cardiologist. I am very concerned that medication is not going to help and worried about heart damage. Are there medications that control this?
I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Tachycardia, shortness of breath, hypertension, palpitations and chest pain. The most common ones are: Avelox (moxifloxacin)
Cipro (ciprofloxacin), Factive (gemifloxacin), Floxin (ofloxacin), Levaquin (levofloxacin), Noroxin (norfloxacin),
and Tequin (gatifloxacin).
If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection.

2 years ago I randomly started suffering from pac's and occassional pvc's. I was checked out at the time and my heart was found to be structurally normal. However I was unable to cope with the number of these, and have been taking a small dose of atenolol daily since (12.5mg, one tablet cut in half). I'm now 6 weeks pregnant, and tried to stop taking them but couldn't. When I did, I was horribly anxious and couldn't cope.
