Yeah, the Fluconazole I'm taking is just a generic brand of Diflucan. So taking a single dose of Diflucan usually gets rid of your yeast infection? Lucky, haha. I'm on day 11 right now of taking Diflucan and I can't say its doing anything. I've heard that taking probiotics while taking antibiotics is also good for avoiding yeast infections, especially Acidopholous (which is the bacteria found in yogurt naturally).
I was diagnosed with a male yeast infection which I got from my ex who was also diagnosed with the same. The Doctor prescribed Nystatin which I applied 3 times a day for 10 days. After which the infection symptoms reappeared after masturbation.
The Doctor said it is tough to get rid of especially in the summer with the heat and humidity. So he prescribed what he called a stronger topical cream ketoconazole; which I applied for 14 days once a day.
I took an std test for chlamydia and gonnorea and they both came back negative but the doctor gave diflucan thinking it might be a yeast infection. It worked for about a week and then the burning came back. The doctor then gave me doxycycline( 10 days 2 pills easch day) and said that this should work. It works a little but he said it might take a week and its been six days. I have a couple of questions.

So I've had a yeast infection since I found out I was pregnant. My doctor finally gave me a prescription to get diflucan. But my insurance want pay for it because they he said it is a risk for the baby. Has this happened to anyone else? Or have you taken diflucan and everything turned out fine? Not to mention she only prescribe me 2 pills one every 24 hours and that's it.
My doctor gave me a cream about two months ago and helped but i came back and the cream i have now i have been using more 3 days and it has helped a little i think but hasnt cleared it up completely yet. I didnt start having the problems right after i received the oral sex. I started having the problems after i got really sick from some kind of food poisoning this summer about 2 or 3 months ago.
Everytime we have sex I get irritable and land up with an yeast infection. I have this unbareable itch. It has ruined my sex life. I really will like to get to the bottom of this issue in my life so I can have a sex life with my husband. Please help me. So far all the gyn doctors I've went to are not helping me.
It sounds as though it could possibly be herpes? You could google herpes and see what they look like and compare to what you have. Have you been to an obgyn? I would definitely suggest that. If it was a yeast infection the diflucan and creams should have worked. I"ve never heard of open sores with a yeast infection. I hope you start to feel better soon. I know it must be very painful. since then i have been to my gyno who cultured my yeast infection and said best medication for it was diflucan, so he also prescribed me to diflucan for 7 days-never went away. then he again prescribed me diflucan 150 once for 3 weeks. never went away!!!
this is my first yeast infection so i dont know why diflucan will not cure me. i am 22 years old, smoke and drink on the weekends, work out regularly, work nights, recently pretty stressed.
m currently treating a vaginal yeast infection and was wondering what your experiences were with Diflucan? How long does a typical yeast infection last? The itching and burning have subsided, and I took my first diflucan pill Sunday (doc gave me 4). I'm also using Vagisil for itching and irritated skin! Thanks!
Well I have posted a topic a week or so ago regarding a recently diagnosis of a male yeast infection. The symptoms and scenarios matched according to my doctor. The specifically located white patch/redness on the tip of my penis has not subsided even after following the treatment directed for me to do. Diflucan x 1( recently have taken a second one to see if it changes anything) monstat x3 daily for 2 weeks, selsun blue x1 daily for 1 week, and acidopholus x1 daily for 2 weeks.
there are stronger medications your doctor can give you for a yeast infection like diflucan. it's just one pill. ask for that instead of buying over the counter stuff.
I researched quite a bit, and thought i might have a yeast infection and possible balanitis. I bought over the counter monistat and applied for a few days. The swelling went down and my foreskin began to produce this whitish patch on my foreskin. When i applied the topical antifungal and allowed the foreskin to cover the head overnight, and the next morning when i pull the foreskin back, i have quite a bit of "yeast' or "smegma" covering the white patch.

I dont know if anyone can help me or give me some suggestions, but back in December I had a yeast infection and the doctor prescribed me terconazole vaginal cream...before she had always given me the diflucan pill and it went away right away. however, this time she gave me the cream and i used it for the 7days like she said and didnt have sex w my bf at all. after the 7th day of using the terconazole cream my bf and i had sex w a condom.
So this is my first yeast infection-sexually active with my fiance. i first started it right before my period, and it continued afterwards so i went to my dr and got a perscription for diflucan, one pill treatment. it's been about 3 days and i'm still producing the white discharge and am very slightly itchy still but otherwise feel fine. how long does it take for the diflucan to work usually and is there anything else i can do to speed it along?
