Avatar f tn I was on antibiotics about two months ago for a sinus infection when i got a yeast infection and i've tried all the over the counter creams and applicators they have little effects and i've been prescribed diflucan five times it's not going away and my doctors just seem to keep prescribing me this and i don't know what to do or how to fix it i also have chronic sinus infections and have for about a year but that is being dealt with im just wondering if there's a possibility i
Avatar f tn It sounds as though it could possibly be herpes? You could google herpes and see what they look like and compare to what you have. Have you been to an obgyn? I would definitely suggest that. If it was a yeast infection the diflucan and creams should have worked. I"ve never heard of open sores with a yeast infection. I hope you start to feel better soon. I know it must be very painful. Let us know!!
Avatar n tn I had severe pseudomembranous colitis from clostridium difficile three years ago and have wondered if that has anything to do with the yeast infection. I have hypothyroidism, but have had it under control for three years with Synthroid. I have been on a no-carb diet along with an alkaline diet for five months. I gave up alcohol, coffee and sugar five months ago. I take Yeast-Cleanse, sublingual vitamin B, Biotin, Garlic, Acidolphus, Lactobacillus Sporogens, and Noni juice.
Avatar n tn I had chronic yeast infections and the doctor only gave that to me because the cream wasnt working. Did the dr do a swab at least to confirm a yeast infection? I would try the over the counter for 7 days which is the best one to use, and also treat your fiance or he will pass it back to you once you go back to having sex again. I wouldnt have sex until the 8th day. Just my opinion as I have been through this so many times and now I know.
556396 tn?1217062437 I have been going to the doctor every 2 weeks for my yeast infection for about 8 mos. now. i have taken every over the counter cream at drug stores and several different pills such as diflucan etc. It's getting very frustrating because they keep coming back and my doctor tells me that it's a yeast infection one week and another week it's gardenerella (don't know how to spell it). During intercouse It's painful on top of that the discharge is embarrassing.
Avatar n tn I believe I have a chronic yeast infection... or a chronic SOMETHING. I've been to the doctor three times, though I don't believe she's an actual gyno (not sure...). She says that she doesn't see anything wrong down there, but it is very obvious there is because the pain is intense alot of the time, the itching is unbearable and the smell is atrocious. I have to shower three times a day for it to be mild. Anyways, I have tried Monistat, Canesten and Probiotic.

Avatar f tn I have been struggling with symptoms of a yeast infection on and off for 6 months. It all started after taking antibiotics for 10 days in June 2013. Ever since then I have had vaginal irritation, burning, itching, and a whitish chunky discharge. I went to see my GYN and she prescribed Diflucan. It eased the symptoms, but became worse after completing the medicine. So I went back to the GYN and she prescribed diflucan again.
Avatar f tn I actually took yeast pills, azo makes them and that worked best for me.
Avatar f tn I've have seen multiple doctors over the past year for yeast infection like symptoms. Vaginal discharge, usually cottage cheese like, itching, burning, severe irritation. I have had multiple cultures, yeast typing, std testing done & repeated all of which come back normal. I've treated w/ Diflucan, Treconazale, Estrace, and OTC yeast meds.
Avatar n tn So I've had a yeast infection since I found out I was pregnant. My doctor finally gave me a prescription to get diflucan. But my insurance want pay for it because they he said it is a risk for the baby. Has this happened to anyone else? Or have you taken diflucan and everything turned out fine? Not to mention she only prescribe me 2 pills one every 24 hours and that's it.
Avatar n tn It is true antibiotics can cause thrush for some people. But I am curious if your partner was treated for the yeast infection because if he wasn't then you will simply keep passing it back and forth to each other. You both need to be treated at the same time, and wait until you are both clear before resuming sexual intercourse.
Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
290018 tn?1240365868 i read that oral meds are not safe during pregnancy for yeast infections and I also read that azole creams are safer than others...
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you so much for your question, it's a good one. There is a correlation between yeast infections and diabetes that is documented. If you have too much sugar circulating which is part of type 2 diabetes, sugars link to yeast overgrowth would then come into play. https://www.webmd.
Avatar f tn I used to have terrible chronic yeast infections. If the Dr has tested you and is sure it is yeast they can give you diflucan for it. I've taken it many many times during pregnancy. But I also delivered my son with a terrible yeast infection.
Avatar f tn She recommended a gyn doctor that is good with diseases but he is no longer at the hospital she sent me too. I am constantly getting creams and diflucan for the yeast infections. I feel that my gyn is not meeting my need. I do not want to live on the creams and diflucan. I heard about a gyn on the radio that I would like to go to. I will make an appointment with her. I never took diflucan long term. I will get two diflucans at one time.
Avatar m tn I'm 21 years old and I've had chronic yeast infections (4-6 a year) for about 3 years now. 2 years ago my doctor prescribed Diflucan and it worked well for a while (cleared up the infection right away). About 8 months ago the Diflucan stopped being as effective, and I would have to take one 150mg pill then followed by another 150mg pill 3 days later. For the past 6 months I've had a yeast infection that has not really gone away.
Avatar n tn I was on Augmentin (antibiotic) for a foot infection about a month ago and then soon started developing stomach cramps. I figured the cramps were related to what was wrong with my penis. The doctor said the antibiotics killed off the good AND bad bacteria in my stomach leaving me vulnerable to contracting this yeast infection, even on my penis head. Does this sound unusual, just kinda looking for opinions!
Avatar f tn t know what it was so it was left untreated for like 9 months.. My doctor gave me a prescription for Yeast Infection pills and the pain went away. Then a month later, it came back, I got the pills again and it then too went away. Then 2 months after that.. I got it again. (Mind you.. all this time.. I used OTC yeast infection creams, ovules, suppositories.. none work or have ever worked for me) So this last time that I have had it.. I started dating AZO Yeast and Nature Made Acidophilus tablets.
Avatar n tn I have been married for 5 months and about 3 months ago I developed a severe yeast infection. I had fissures, burning, irritated skin and it was very painful. Sex was impossible and I went to the doctor. They said it was a yeast infection gave me Diflucan and sent me home. It didn't go away so I went back to the doctor I was diagnosed again with a yeast infection and this time a bacterial infection I got another diflucan and some teraconazole cream and went home.
Avatar f tn Hi, Birth control pills may sometimes increase the chances of yeast infection. This is not brand specific and can be found with other brands as well. However the yeast infection can be treated with the help of anti-fungal vaginal pessary or with oral drugs. A vaginal swab test can be done to confirm the diagnosis. Consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar f tn since then i have been to my gyno who cultured my yeast infection and said best medication for it was diflucan, so he also prescribed me to diflucan for 7 days-never went away. then he again prescribed me diflucan 150 once for 3 weeks. never went away!!! this is my first yeast infection so i dont know why diflucan will not cure me. i am 22 years old, smoke and drink on the weekends, work out regularly, work nights, recently pretty stressed.
Avatar f tn I have had a yeast infection for a year now. The doctors cannot get it to go away. I've been through ten plus Diflucans no results and suppositories no results. But my yeast infection only started after I took lamictal. Has anyone else had this problem? How did your doctors get your yeast to go away?
Avatar f tn I was on antibiotics for an ear infection and now have a yeast infection. The GP gave me a RX for Diflucan. I took that much earlier tonite. I just happened to read the Prescription info sheet & it has Xanax as an interacting drug but it doesnt say how. I tried googling and cant see why it shouldnt be taken.. I did see where under Xanax it says one of the drugs to avoid is Diflucan. Why would an antifungal med interact with a sedative?
Avatar n tn I went to dr she said had yeast infection tested it on microscope and got treated with diflucan it went away and had sex and three days later i got another one. Could it be something else..
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a yeast infection to clear up? I just popped my second week of Diflucan, and my symptoms are much better. My red, irritated, itchiness is gone...just stuck with that gross cottage cheese-like discharge. How long does it take to go away?
