Common Questions and Answers about Differin vs retina

differin

Avatar n tn Yes the risks of retina surgery are increased in multifocal IOL patients vs monofocal per my source a professor of ophthalmology and retina surgeon at a top US ophthalmology program. Of course the numbers are too small to expect any controlled study to be done.
Avatar m tn What is the difference between thinning of the retina and lattice of the retina? ?I have a small thinning of the retina in my left eye. The dr. said no need to laser it. I am worried because I just had surgery on my right eye for a detachment and I am very near sighted in my left eye which I understand can be a factor in retinal detachments., Also, my dr. has me on prednilosone to try and prevent scar tissue from the surgery on my right eye. She is taking me off at 5 weeks post surgery.
Avatar f tn Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)?
Avatar f tn I had partially detached retina layered a year ago. I have been to three retina docs bc the first tow had wildly different opinions as to concerns that I had (exercise, buckle vs non buckle, etc.) I have lattice in a small area of my other eye. 2 docs say absolutely not to preventative laser and the other said he wanted to do laser around lattice. Dr. Hogan...do you have an opinion on preventative laser for a lattice section ?
Avatar f tn I had retina surgery on my right eye one week ago. I know one of the side effects is a droopy eye lid. My lid is droopy but is it too soon to be concerned? How long after retina surgery should my eye look "normal"???
20923866 tn?1668021361 My doctor tells me that he performed laser shots all around the entire periphery of my retina during my vitrectomy. Will this make my retinal attachment stronger to the back of my eye moving forward, thereby decreasing the chances of another detachment?
Avatar m tn I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun. I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

Avatar n tn What is the difference between an RPE detachment and a retinal detachment? In a retinal detachment isn't there a break in the retina, which means that the RPE layer would also be invovled? I'm really confused..... I know that the retina is made up of layers and that the outermost layer is the RPE. Also, I seem to recall reading that there are three main types of retinal detachments: rhegmatogenous, tractional, and exudative.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar f tn Yesterday, Feb 29, I had cataract surgery. The lens in my right eye was replaced. Your worry was also mine. Last June the retina in that eye detached. My problem with retinas is heredity. Members of my family have thin retinas, aka, lattice degeneration. My opthamologist said that during that surgery, it looked as though the entire retina was about to become "unzipped." Silicone oil was filled into the eyeball.
Avatar m tn I am 69 years old and my cataracts have gotten bad enough to finally need operation and an artificial lens implant. I have had perifoveal telangectasia on my left eye retina for about 5 years - no worse and apparently now have it on my right eye as well although much less. They assure me my vision loss is mostly from the cataracts. From the retina only some wavy lines and an occasional dropped letter. Apparently not as bad as say macular edema.
Avatar n tn The problem with a sugical purse stitch type problem is that the pupil will not dilate properly for a retina exam to be sure there is no retinal detachment. Plust it's an operation with a small risk of infection, bleeding, knocking the IOL further off center. If you are assymptomatic on low strength pilo perhaps 0.5% there might be less risk with ongoing use of that low concentration. Ask your surgeon about a trial of alphagan P.
Avatar n tn i had a cataract surgery in my left eye 2 months ago . I was -9.0 and now -1.0. But my retina detach a few days after my surgery. l had bubbles and laser and it's seems fine. My question: my right eye is -10 and have astigmatism. l had a scleral buckle in it since 1998. What are the chances to have another retina detachment in my right eye if l choose to get rid of my cataract(a baby one) . l have a lot of trouble wearing contact lenses. Do l have other options.
344352 tn?1605238012 Look at the OCTs so you know normal vs small ERM vs large ERM. Ask for copy of yours and ask if your symptoms could be due to abnormal OCT due to small ERM I have had very observant, perfectionist patients with similar observations.
Avatar m tn he put me on oracea 40mg once a day and differin gel 0.3%....i was reading the paper that comes with oracea~doxycycline and it says it doesnt kill bacteria now im getting worried because minocycline does kill bacteria now im worried i will break out more from the oracea.it says its for rosacea but doest oracea work to kill acne to or no?and the differin gel 0.3% isnt this not as strong drying to dry up pimples as retin a micro 0.1%?
Avatar f tn s suggestion, surgery recommended was combined retina surgery and corneal transplant. We preferred dseak but doctor is suggesting full thickness since clear cornea is needed for retina surgery. 1 ) Is good eye pressure a must for corneal tranplant recovery ? 2 ) Can't DSEAL be done first to resove cornea issue and then perform surgey to resolve eye pressure ? Can someone help me with the question ?
Avatar m tn Because they are the "Floater" specialists. Make sure the retina is healthy by seeing retina Eye MD. If they don't find a problem then you can consider a second cornea specialist.
Avatar m tn I am not able to read some of the text during low light (late evening) vs what I can read during mid day ?
Avatar m tn I used drops for two months out of the country, returning in March 2012 to discover that I had recently sustained a detached retina (thought the symptoms were because of my CME). The retina was successfully re-attached but I experience some lingering CME which only recently has abated as indicated through OCT scans. My right eye, with the Crystalens, seems now only capable of delivering good intermediate vision. My uncorrected distance is about 20/80 corrected to 20/30 with glasses.
15526557 tn?1441143862 Retina detachment surgery is very unique and defies generalizations. Same way with buckle removal. Generally buckles are left alone unless they are cutting into the eye (intrusion).
1632818 tn?1299941302 I washed my face and slathered it with the sunscreen that is usually soothing, but it stung this time. I decided to google differin, and on their website it clearly said that differin should not be used on skin with eczma. Then I googled eczma, where it said that it is important to moisturise skin with eczma... So this contradicted the dermatologist telling me to not use my moisturiser and prescribing me differin.
Avatar m tn He gave me differin and it worked ok.While i was using the differin i was working all summer long outside and usually wore a hat.Well two years later ever since my forehead is my natural skin color which is pale. The rest of my face is very red.I have very oily skin and my skin breaksout if i put lotion or toners on it usually. Is there any advise on how to get my skin to even out and get this redness to go away. Please help.
Avatar n tn If you see a qualified retina Eye MD specialist and he/she says both are acceptable if it were me I would go with avastin. You can always get a second opinion.
542335 tn?1215050679 Patients have little way to judge whether they need a scleral buckle with or without vitrectomy and intraocular gas or oil. Only an experienced retina surgeon looking in your eyes can tell what you need. You will have to rely on your retina surgeons, express your concerns to them.
Avatar f tn I do only notice it when I am wearing my contact lenses vs. glasses and during day. I also wonder if it could be my contacts not fitting 100 % on eye? I went for a full eye exam last week...(I mentioned this to optometrist). He did a very thorough eye exam using dilation and said that everything looked great. He said that jump, or flicker can be completely normal and not related to a retinal issue, but did not go into it. DO you agree with this? or have any thoughts?
