Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)?
Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun.
I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.
I have been out in the sun after using Differin before, and my skin became a normal level of irritated... nothing too unusual.

I've never had serious issues with acne, but in the last year, my cheeks and chin have broken out, a few times with cysts forming also. I went back today, and asked her if there was anything we could do to reduce whatever was going on. This is my regimen that she gave me:
Morning: Clindamycin, then Hydrocortisone Cream 2.5%
Night: Epiduo, then Hydrocortisone Cream 2.
i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily. I went to see the dermatologist and he given me the differin cream, differin also make my nose oily and did not stop the oil production,which is also not helping, i very hopeless right now. please help with my oily nose.
and my lower lip closest to the acne is very itchy and had small little blister infact my whole lower lip was very itchy so i decided to go to ER... to my horror the Dr. on duty told me that i have facial impetigo..... (by the way the day i came to the dr. office for the very first time i was in pain because it was swollen and my lymph node swollen like a half of a golf ball) so is it possible to get acne and turn into impetigo after a steroid shot...or was i misdiagnose..
They were not itchy at first but started to spread and becoming very itchy. My Gp said its contact dermatitis. But how could it be as I have been using it for 3 months? I put hydrocortisone cream on them but nothing seems to subside. Now my whole face is covered with itchy swell rashes. What should I do? Could I become allergy to retinol out of a sudden?
I messed with it a little bit, and the next day it had swollen up and was warm, like an infection. Since then, I have been using Abreva and Differin on it. The Differin makes the largest difference – it reduces the size significantly.
When it first showed up, it looked a lot like this picture: http://www.adamjbc.f2s.com/dlc/test/Photo-0171.jpg. It no longer has a white tip, and there are two small bumps (neither red nor painful) below it.
The best way to treat this is with a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline to kill acne-causing bacteria. In addition use a topical retinoid cream called Differin (adapalene) which is very good at clearing up the redness and soreness. Use a bland, soap-free cleanser to minimise irritation. I recommend Effaclar or Physiological Cleansing Gel by La Roche-Posay.
Find a more sympathetic doctor. If untreated, acne can cause physical and psychological scars.
