Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)?

I started using Differin in May, but I now realize Differin also contains Adapalene. Should I be worried about sun exposure while using Differin/adapaline? I noticed the container says not to use it on sunburns, but nothing about not using it in the sun. I use the cream at night, but I also realize that it's a long term treatment... and as such just because I use it at night, does not mean the sensitivity is gone in the morning/day.

The best way to treat this is with a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline to kill acne-causing bacteria. In addition use a topical retinoid cream called Differin (adapalene) which is very good at clearing up the redness and soreness. Use a bland, soap-free cleanser to minimise irritation. I recommend Effaclar or Physiological Cleansing Gel by La Roche-Posay. Find a more sympathetic doctor. If untreated, acne can cause physical and psychological scars.

You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often. They look similair but arent as rasied. My doctor told me to put on some lotion that starts with an e. That didnt seem to help. Anyone have any answers?

I can't remember the name of the prescription lotion for KP, but I tried it and reacted badly to it. It's the only one out there that is a prescription. I wouldn't mind hearing more about this if you find a solution to the KP problem. I find that with me that the only thing to do for me is to do my best not to irritate the skin where the KP is, such as the backs of my arms.

Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
