1276890 tn?1271027818 That is great you have become a vegan. Recommend a moderate fat intake which means using polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats and no Trans fats. Vegans need vitamin B12 and calcium supplements. Suggest you take a daily multi-vitamin and increase calcium consummation (soy milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, leafy green vegetables) for stronger bones.
Avatar f tn She is a vegetarian, non pregnant. No other medical conditions noted. She has had similar symptoms in the past which subsided but the current episode is worse than the past. This has been present for 2 weeks now when she returned to the northeast from her childhood home in the southwest. She does not have asthma or COPD. Family history of breast cancer. She has not seen anyone but a chiropractor who referred to her pcp but will not go.
Avatar f tn s high quantity of EPA and DHA. DHA in particular is essential for proper brain function. Some people do feel lessened depression with a high dose of fish oil daily. I don't know about anxiety. Make sure you buy one from a good company that uses clean fish; I prefer Nordic Naturals. However, by itself, I don't think it will solve your problem; natural remedies are usually used in combination. Good luck.
1192727 tn?1282735542 It is found in cold water fatty fish and fish oil supplements, along with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Vegetarian sources of DHA come from seaweed. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease.
915369 tn?1355314810 ve been interested in becoming a vegetarian for quite some time, and have recently (about a month or two ago) taken the first step which is to become a mafist (a person who doesn't eat mammals). Since I've stopped eating things like pork and beef I've actually felt great, a lot of my digestive problems have either gotten better or disappeared altogether.
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor and she told me it could be the fish oil in them. I went back to vegetarian ones in liquid form, but the taste makes it hard to keep down. Do you guys have any suggestions for other ones I should try? I'm desperate and I want my baby to be healthy. I'm vegetarian but I'm willing to have non-veg ones (no fish pil though since it makes me sick).
8987249 tn?1404774097 My doc recommends a plant based dha supplement if u do not eat 2-3 servings of fish per week. I take it bc I'm a vegetarian. I also take calcium chews depending on how much ca I get in my diet for the day.... If I don't get enough, I take them before bed.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
Avatar f tn I plan on going back to being vegetarian and still breast feeding once baby is born in 3 weeks (I'm beih induced). do you have any tips on what I can supplement or things to do so my supply doesn't run out and my baby gets what she needs through my milk?
Avatar n tn There are many good vegetarian protein sources. Nuts, beans, higher protein whole grains and seeds and grain-like foods. I'd go buy a few books on vegetarian cooking. But know that not everyone is equipped to do well as a vegetarian -- most vegetarians do it for ideological reasons and it is harder to get all your nutrients as a vegetarian, particularly methionine and B12, so you do have to learn how to do it well.
Avatar f tn I am a former vegetarian of 5 years. When I was a vegetarian I was not being very responsible in regards to getting adequate nutrition which caused my thyroid to become imbalanced. I lost 15 pounds in one month, and I didn’t weigh very much to being with. I felt very, very sick and consequently started eating meat again. I still feel that animal abuse is wrong, but you can get meat from local farmers where you know how the animals are treated.
1201598 tn?1265473722 You are going to have to work a little harder to get that protein in but it can be done. Do your homework and study up on a vegetarian lifestyle. Some ways you can get protein is soy, nuts and beans. My teenage daughter wanted to be a vegetarian for a few years so I had to learn how to cook vegetarian. She's not doing it so much anymore but I still use soy, like the soy crumbles in soups or the firm tofu in veggie stir fries. She also likes the Boca burgers, which is a soy burger.
1051017 tn?1349636853 i am a vegetarian and im wondering if anyone out there can give me some good recipe ideas for when i do eventually get pregnant? im not vegan but i do struggle to eat well. any ideas?
6231275 tn?1379901818 I just started a vegetarian diet what would be the best diet for vegetarian to lose weight?
1666434 tn?1325262350 I have always taken mine first thing in the morning with my cran-grape juice after I eat my cereal. If I happen to have a different breakfast - like on Saturdays when we make pancakes - then I usually forget to take my vitamin until I remember later that day. I guess eating the same breakfast helps me remember my vitamin routine. I take nature made prenatals that are sold at most drug stores and grocery stores.
Avatar n tn d like to add is that going transitioning to vegan or vegetarian reverses any diseases you may have. It has on multiple occasions reversed cancer on patients.
Avatar f tn So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
Avatar f tn So I Bought prenatal pills and they don't have dha. So when I had my 1st Dr appt at 5 weeks he said buy dha prenatal so I have been taking them. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and a few days ago I ran out so I been taking the prenatal pills without dha until I get paid. But I'm wondering is it even a big deal which pills i take since I'm out of 1st trimester?
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..

If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side? These have me confused!
