Common Questions and Answers about Dha recommendations

Avatar f tn Well not knowing where you live...I can tell you that I I use Nature Made Prenatal Multi + DHA. A few key things to look for in your prenatal: folic acid (mine has 800 mcg) and iron (I believe the recommendation is 27mg). There are other things in there, but those are the two most important.
Avatar f tn Bellow is a summary of recommendations for FA consumption, notice that patients without documented CHD should consume those fatty acid as fish in their diet: 1. Patients without documented coronary heart disease should eat a variety of (preferably fatty) fish at least twice a week. Include oils and foods rich in alpha-linolenic acid (flaxseed, canola and soybean oils; flaxseed and walnuts). 2.
776572 tn?1360290739 I take PreNexa. It's FANTASTIC! I have loved it. Best prenatal I've ever taken. It's plant-based DHA, but you can only get it through a prescription from your doctor. My fertility clinic put me on it once we started with our IVF process. And now I'm 26 weeks pregnant and still taking it and baby is growing strong! Good luck!
Avatar n tn I'm sure you'll get a lot of recommendations but I did a lot of research and reading of labels and finally settled on Brainstrong prenatals with DHA. It just seemed to have the highest level of all the important stuff, plus DHA which is good for growing those little brain cells.
432779 tn?1364494875 but I am buying the Gerber DHA/ARA cereal. I also have the plain Gerber cereal also in case the DHA/ARA irritates their stomachs. They make the DHA/ARA in the baby food also..Gerber. I have found Target to have the best prices on baby food.
Avatar f tn You should ask your doctor, asking what medications to take (even prenatals) that are safe isn't a very good idea to ask here as we should not make recommendations on what medications are safe and good to take. What is safe for someone in their pregnancy may not be safe for another (say if you were on other meds like an anticoagulant/blood thinner) some meds can interact with one another and not have good outcomes.
Avatar n tn Hey and congratulations!! "ONE A DAY" PRENATAL HAS DHA AND OTHER GOOD STUFF FOR THE BABY. THEY SELL THOSE AT WALMART. AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS STAY AWAY FROM STRESS AND SEAFOOD AND IF YOU LOVE TUNA HAVE LESS THEN 6 OZ OF TUNA A WEEK. AND TRY TO RELAX AND NOT DO SO MUCH OR CARRY HEAVY STUFF . AND I'M PREGNANT AGAIN.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
Avatar f tn Oh no :/ I'm a worry wort and definitely don't want to chance it. What would be some recommendations for prenatals? My doctor really isn't that great :/ I'm a Ftm and she really hasn't given me any advice..
9889855 tn?1412479178 I use Walmart brand. Just look at the labels. Ask your pharmacist. They are a must!
Avatar f tn Prima Care vitamins are the number 1 prescribed vitamins in the country so that has to make you feel good about them. They have the most EPA and DHA than any other prenatal. I looked them up when I was given them and they meet the NIH recommendations. I visited their website and they seem to take care of everything from a one pill to a two pill to a chewable to even one without omega 3s if you don't want to take those. I love them!
519661 tn?1264516208 It was the worst between 7 and 8 weeks, I was so tired and nauseated and just felt very sad and lonely, even with a wonderful husband and daughter. Then I realized I had stopped taking my omega-3 supplement (DHA and EPA), it's a fat your body NEEDS but you can only get it from dietary intake or supplements. It is found in fish but I hate fish so I take a pure, mercury free fish oil in the form of EPA and DHA. I began taking it again and within 2 days I felt amazingly better.
Avatar f tn So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
Avatar f tn So I Bought prenatal pills and they don't have dha. So when I had my 1st Dr appt at 5 weeks he said buy dha prenatal so I have been taking them. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and a few days ago I ran out so I been taking the prenatal pills without dha until I get paid. But I'm wondering is it even a big deal which pills i take since I'm out of 1st trimester?
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn One of my prenatal vitamins have DHA but no iron, and the other has iron but no DHA...The one with iron has a little higher percentage of vitamin C as well...which one should I take? If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side? These have me confused!
Avatar m tn no it is not harmful it is a must, but the quality and concentration of epa and dha must be very high at 2-3g daily (fish oil quantity is not useful check epa/dha), most products are scam with very low dha/epa so useless.
Avatar m tn I am with baby _ nature made + dha. Never made me sick either.
Avatar f tn I'm taking DHA per my Dr bc he asked me was I going to breastfeed and I told him yes!
1969424 tn?1353020641 im using nature made (i have used without dha ) now using with dha. still ttc for a year a few months now .. i was also using fertility blend for women, with lots of hope, sadly it made my stomach sick, so i had to stop that.
1225070 tn?1344709174 DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils. You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins. I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com. Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!
Avatar n tn What brand of prenatal vitamins is everyone using? Im using nature made with dha. Just wondering if there is one kind of prenatals that are better than another.
