DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease.
Avatar f tn You can take fish oil..same thing!
Avatar f tn Fish oil is a much better source of DHA than algae. Algae sources of DHA are many (more often than not) times treated with bleach and hexane to remove odors etc. As you know bleach is not good but Hexane is much worse. Choosing fish sources for DHA that are highly purified or come from fish at the bottom of the food chain (smaller fish don't live as long or consume other fish which are ways of becoming toxic with heavy metals like mercury) such as sardines, anchovies, and krill.
Avatar f tn You can get all of the vitamins in the prenatal pill from natural sources, but you have to eat a lot of really healthy stuff to get all of them. I can't afford that, so I take the pills. It's just easier for me.
Avatar m tn Fish oil is pretty much as good, and maybe even better for DHA, so you should be fine using fish oil if you feel the krill oil is affecting you adversely. Just make sure you buy a clean source -- one good thing about krill oil is that krill don't live in waters we've polluted as much as other sources of fish oil, but there are companies that are very careful, such as Nordic Naturals.
Avatar n tn Some products use Erythrulose combined with the DHA. Erythrulose works identically to DHA on the skin surface, but develops more slowly. The two chemicals used together may produce a longer lasting sunless tan. Dihydroxyacetone or Erythrulose may cause contact dermatitis. First time users of sunless tanning products should apply them to a small patch of skin and wait 24 hours before a full body application. ref:http://en.wikipedia.

Avatar f tn In addition to all the other information sources you can find, it is important to see your doc and pharmacist as they are experts and can experience you in person. They read the drug info and see the effects on the users.http://www.medhelp.

Avatar f tn I took the Enfamil DHA & Omega- 3 supplement because it is designed for pregnant women, but I am sure that if your doc told you to take them then you are just fine. DHA/ Omega- 3 fatty acids are very important for your baby's brain development so I don't know why the pharmacist would recommend you stop taking them.

Avatar f tn I also started a supplement of DHA. DHA is a type of fish oil that is specifically related to the development of the neurological system and eyes and is really important in the first trimester when these important systems are forming. It is also a natural anti depressant and may help with hormone related emotions. I also recommend a trip to your OB/GYN for pre pregnancy exam and counseling. Good Luck TTC!!!

Avatar f tn s high quantity of EPA and DHA. DHA in particular is essential for proper brain function. Some people do feel lessened depression with a high dose of fish oil daily. I don't know about anxiety. Make sure you buy one from a good company that uses clean fish; I prefer Nordic Naturals. However, by itself, I don't think it will solve your problem; natural remedies are usually used in combination. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have read a number of threads which are saying that fish oil with high levels of EPA and DHA can help to reverse liver fibrosis if there is no further liver injury occuring. Is this correct? I have found locally a fish oil liquid that has 968 mg of EPA and 878 mg of DHA per 10ml serving. Would this be enough because it recommends only 10 ml per day? By the way it also states on the box that a) it is made to Pharma GMP standards and b) it uses opti-pure purification process.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
