I work at a health food store and New Chapter is by far the best brand of vitamin you can buy its made from all whole foods so you can take on an empty stomache and it has probiotics in it which are great for any stomache ir digestive issues you might experience through out your pregnancy.

Okay, I am a little naive about fish oil.... what do you mean by,-" but contained listed EPA and DHA High440 mg per very large softgel?" What is EPA and DHA?? Sorry, this a learning lesson for me.

I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my 1st child. Just had my first prenatal visit over a week ago. Doc said he wanted me start omega pills & handed me a flyer with different brand name options. The one that stood out was Nordic Naturals. I went to their website, click the pregnancy tab & reviewed the options for pregnancy which were Cod liver oil & Prenatal DHA. My best friend who already has a child told me the cod liver oil was the best so I decided to buy it.
Flax oil isn't equivalent to fish oil. While both contain omega 3 oils, the oils they contain are quite different. The reason your shrink recommended fish oil is it's high quantity of EPA and DHA. DHA in particular is essential for proper brain function. Some people do feel lessened depression with a high dose of fish oil daily. I don't know about anxiety. Make sure you buy one from a good company that uses clean fish; I prefer Nordic Naturals.
I also take Garden of life raw prenatal, raw Co q 10 (our bodies produce less as we get older ),raw iron,Nordic Naturals algae omega for EPA and DHA, these things will optimize pregnancy. Help the things you can control the rest is prayer and in God's hands ! I wish you the best! It could just be implantation bleeding. I am 46 and now happy to be at 29 weeks! Praise be to God!

Nordic Naturals is the best I know, but still, there's no body of water in the world free of mercury. It's everywhere.
I don't know if the connection is there, but keep in mind until someone got the horrible idea of killing krill, on which the most endangered ocean species depend, so we can have another source of omega 3 oils, people have never consumed them. So who knows what sensitivities might be out there? Fish oil is pretty much as good, and maybe even better for DHA, so you should be fine using fish oil if you feel the krill oil is affecting you adversely.
Another great supplement to take while pregnant along with your prenatal is omega-3. My doctor recommended Nordic Naturals prenatal dha tabs. They have 400 units in each tab of vitamin d. I take it twice a day along with my prenatals that also have 1000 units. Plus the dha is promotes healthy brain, eyes, & bones for baby as well as support a healthy mood for momma.

Eat healthy, lots of spinach for natural folate, take coq10, take a good prenatal (I take Garden of Life raw prenatal), Get lots rest, Pray and give thanks to God because He chose you to be this babies mommy! Oh I aslso take Nordic naturals marine algae for epa and dha important for brain development. 20 weeks already!

a good brand is Nordic Naturals and you can buy it at health food stores or speciality vitamin stores.It';s really good. They have a website and they have done a lot of research on the products. very pure.
Stay away from teh cheaper brands, they are often rancid and cause more harm than good.
Please Google Nordic Naturals. Their web site is full of information and you can even ask / email any questions to one of their experts. I believe this brand is also of good quality. You need to be careful about the company that produces the fish oil pill regarding their source of fish. This is due to polution in many ocean sources and also due to including fish that might be a source of mercury contamination. Regarding the dosage, Nordic Naturals have some formulas for kids.
i thank you soooo much for your responses regarding my 11 yr old beagle - shih tzu mix with the 2-3 asymptomatic heart murmur. i am going to purchase the nordic naturals fish oil and start this dog on them, as well as my other 2 dogs (11 and 12 yr old dacshunds). my 11 yr old long haired dacshund has some arthritis and stiffness and a year ago we started giving him a supplement called "joint strong" and he has much better mobility then he did before.
Dr. Fuhrman says this is more common in women when their EPA and DHA levels are lower,and if you didn't supplement these during pregnancy your levels could be low,baby takes what they need for brain development.
