Avatar f tn It is safe to have the light turn in packed in water in a can, not much murcury in this. But be careful with fresh tuna as only a few inches can be eaten a week due to the murcery levels... But if its just canned tuna for a sandwich, go for it, fulfill the craving.
Avatar f tn Or my prenatal is a gummy and it has DHA already in it. Its called Vitafusion.
Avatar n tn AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS STAY AWAY FROM STRESS AND SEAFOOD AND IF YOU LOVE TUNA HAVE LESS THEN 6 OZ OF TUNA A WEEK. AND TRY TO RELAX AND NOT DO SO MUCH OR CARRY HEAVY STUFF . AND I'M PREGNANT AGAIN. AND I'M ABOUT 5 WEEKS ALSO AND I FEEL DEFINITELY CRAMPING , BLOATING BACKACHES AND SOMETIMES NASUSA AND I GET RANDOM HEADACHES BUT THAT JUST YOUR HORMONES RISING THAT'S GOOD. AND I GET FULL PRETTY QUICK NOW AND HUNGRY QUICK .
384896 tn?1335294331 my doc said canned tuna (in moderation like the others said) is fine... but NO tuna steaks (which i LOVE!) b/c its super high in mercury content! i ate it once at the beginning of my pregnancy before i knew (oops!). dh loves to cook fish, so it sucks to have to limit things i love... but whatever is best for baby is what to do and i can always look forward to it later!!! i'm trying to find my list of what not to eat, but i probably won't find it!
233488 tn?1310693103 Women consuming the highest levels of DHA had a 38 percent reduction in risk, while high consumption of EPA carried a 34 percent risk reduction. One serving of fish per week, primarily canned tuna fish and dark-meat fishes, reduced risk by 42 percent. The authors say omega-3 fatty acids likely modulate the inflammatory and immune responses. Archives of Ophthalmology, July 2011 POSTED AS A SERVICE BY THE PHYSICIANS OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY MEDHELP.COM EYE FORUMS.
Avatar f tn I would ask your doc what foods are okay to eat and not to eat. They know best and also it varies from doc to doc. I see a midwife so it's a little different. I eat everything in moderation whether I am pregnant or not. You do want to be careful not to eat tuna or fish more than once or twice a week because of the high levels of mercury. You always want to make sure your meat is well done also. As for books, I love 'What to Expect When You're Expecting'. Excellent book!!
1756970 tn?1314376733 Well the more EPA the better, so if you want more EPA then yes buy a different one, I am not 100% sure how you tell if it has Mercury in it or not, maybe in should say on the bottle, but i guess it might not sure. I buy Usana fish oil and i know its a good brand and does take the Mercury out, my suppler has told me it does. It also contains vitamin D as it is needed to absorb the fish oil properly. Now how long it takes to work is different to everyone and depends on the issue etc.
Avatar f tn Prenatal that include DHA, DHA is really important for babies brain development. Eat as healthy as you can, lots of fruit, veggies and protein. Try to enjoy this time and not stress. Its so amazing and time will fly by. Congratulations!
1082155 tn?1268675169 My nutritionist told me light tuna is good reason being light tuna is made from small fish that have a shorter life expectancy, but solid white albacore tuna is made from a big fish that lives for a long time and carry lots of mercury and othe stuff that is not healthy for pregnancy....
Avatar f tn Avoid: Shark, swordfish, king mackerel, fresh tuna, sea bass, tilefish, mahi mahi, grouper, amberjack, and fish from contaminated waters Limit to six ounces per week: Canned (or packaged) white albacore tuna and freshwater fish caught by family and friends Limit to 12 ounces per week: Shellfish, canned (or packaged) light tuna, smaller ocean fish, farm-raised fish and store-bought freshwater fish Safely eat: Wild salmon, shrimp, catfish, tilapia, sole, flounder, haddock, halibut, ocean perch,
Avatar m tn Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) omega-3 are marine-derived. The EPA and DHA forms of omega-3 fatty acids are found in oily fish, such as salmon, lake trout, mackerel, tuna, and herring. Higher concentrations of EPA and DHA, the active components in omega-3s, can also be found in LOVAZA — the first and only prescription omega-3 medication. It is important to know that some types of fish may contain mercury and other pollutants from the environment.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
Avatar f tn I bought some prenatal vitamins and they came in a pack with DHA vitamins. Does anyone know what they are or if they are ok to take??
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
7177914 tn?1399518500 Be careful with tuna as we safely should only have it twice a week & it must also be tuna in water & not white albacore which is higher in mercury content. Eggs, I suggest hard boiled since under cooked yolk is a risk to the baby. I love almonds & peanuts. Quinoa is awesome with black beans. Can you stomach pork? Pork chops are a great source of protein.
6726276 tn?1421126668 I will usually give my girls "People Tuna" a couple of tablespoons no more than 3 or 4 times a year.
Avatar n tn One particular fish oil supplement called Lovaza has been approved by the FDA to lower triglycerides. Lovaza contains 465 milligrams of EP and 375 milligrams of DHA in 1-gram capsules. Possibly effective for high blood pressure- Fish oil seems to produce modest reductions in blood pressure in people with high blood pressure. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil seem to be able to expand blood vessels, and this brings blood pressure down.
Avatar f tn I think it's 6 to 12 oz a week you can eat of the canned stuff, I love tuna helper so I would have it twice a week.
Avatar f tn So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn I dont think mine have dha in them. I take the target generic brand prenatals with this pregnancy and did with my son and he is a happy healthy almost 3 yr old. My original obgyn with my son said any prenatal is fine and my 2nd with this pregnancy agreed but when I had an appt with a midwife she told me only dha prenatals and I needed a natural brand. Who knows?!
