Common Questions and Answers about Dha in self tanners

dha

Avatar n tn Does anyone know the answer to the question - are there self tanners without DHA ?
Avatar m tn m allergic to them all, even those that claim to be DHA-free. Can you suggest any alternatives? I really love having a tan look without the sun damage (I'm very pale without it). Thank you!
8690664 tn?1405214716 what do you ladies think about self tanners? Has anyone used ten while pregnant?
467126 tn?1283144858 t be undesirable just during pregnancy, but at any time. DHA has been in use as a cosmetic ingredient in the U.S. since 1960 and no problems have ever been reported concerning DHA penetrating the skin, or causing problems during pregnancy. The reason the concern remains is that advances have been made in the cosmetic industry in developing ingredients that help other ingredients to penetrate the skin better. This applies not only to sunless tanners but moisturizers and other products.
Avatar f tn Do any of you use self tanners during your pregnancy's? Did you doctor approve a certain brand?

Avatar n tn hi, i'm 17 and i noticed that when i am outside in the cold my skin spots orange i don't eat alot of carrots and i don't use skin tanners or smoke i was just wondering if it's something bad or not
7552207 tn?1427020403 Ive tried a lot of self tanners. Ove used banana boat on and off for awhile but it does have a hint of orange. Fake bake a little pricey. So ill it when i know if im going out or something. Ill use banana boat just to maintain a little color when i dont use fake bake.
Avatar f tn I used to use fake bake. I love it.
Avatar n tn According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless tanning or self tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. The tan is not a dye, stain or paint, but a chemical reaction between the DHA and the amino acids in the dead layer on the skin surface. The reaction is non-toxic and skin safe, without the potential risks associated with UV exposure. The tan is temporary and will fade gradually over 3 to 10 days.
Avatar m tn , providing 1,600 mg of EPA and 800 mg DHA), 80% had increases in white matter in key brain regions, compared to only 45% of those whose depression did not improve. An analysis of blood samples from 1,600 military personnel showed those who committed suicide had, prior to suicide, significantly lower blood levels of DHA than personnel who did not commit suicide.

Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
Avatar f tn I bought some prenatal vitamins and they came in a pack with DHA vitamins. Does anyone know what they are or if they are ok to take??
Avatar f tn NYGirl is right. There are some really good self-tanning lotions out there that do not streak and have incredible moisturising properties. You could maybe alternate its use with perhaps a more efficacious lotion that meets your skin care needs. You might have to read a few articles or reviews first since there is definite Pro and Con. Most produce a healthy sheen without changing shade since they are not really "self tanners." Not sure why they are called that http://beauty.about.
Avatar f tn My OB said absolutely NOT. Not even self tanners because it can get in the blood stream.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
Avatar f tn I love fake bake. I buy that and use it pretty regularly. Its pretty pricey. Well I think it is. So I'll use that once or twice maybe 3 times a week but the other days I will use hemp tanning lotion from Walmart. It doesn't give much color but it's also a good moisturizer. All use Banana Boat also the other days I don't use Hemp. I'm tried sublime golden glow. It has a lot of glitter and a perfume smell. Banana boat is ok. But I noticed the more you use it goes orange.
Avatar f tn Cant du it. it can hurt the baby severly. Look up approved self tanners nd i suggest natural sun for face then.
Avatar f tn Has anyone asked their doctors on using sunless tanners? I have a huge celebration coming up and would love to have some color on my legs when I wear this dress. If not, I'll prob wear some panty hose because I'm white as can be.
Avatar f tn I would just recommend that to give your baby the best help for development that whichever prenatal you choose (which you can get over the counter, or your doctor could prescribe) just make sure that what you get has DHA in it, it's to aid in brain and eye development, and a lot of doctors recommend this. With an previous ectopic pregnancy, and being early on, it would be beneficial to get the most out of a prenatal, and not all of them contain DHA, but it is a very good thing to have.
330481 tn?1309488243 HAHA!!! Pasty white - that's me!!! I am still in pain - worse now than before. It was my own fault - I got for 8 mins the other day and felt fine so I figured I could go the whole 20 mins - lasted only 17. I am in pain! But it will peel and tan a bit. As I get older I seem to tan better so it shouldn't take long to tan. Then I will be in my kayak half the summer so I will stay tan that way. God - I can not wait to get into my kayak again!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I asked my ob about it during Thr summer and she said a no no because of the chemicals you will breathing in not because of your skin absorbing it, tgsts why lotions are safe as long as its well ventilated while applying it :-)
