I was recommended by my doctors to take the Enfamil Expecta DHA.(but this may be due to them getting paid to promote the product? I don't know. They always give out samples.) Anyway, I've taken it with all my pregnancies and it doens't upset my stomach like regular fish oil caps do. Also, you don't have to worry about mercury. It's a little on the expensive side, varying from $10 - $15/mo. I ordered mine on Amazon where it was only $20 for a 2 month supply.
I am also due October 25th, I am taking the vita fusion prenatal gummies. They taste awesome and if I make sure to take them before bedtime I don't get sick from them. I got them at Target for like 9 bucks here in WA state.
I buy the kind called Expecta. It comes with one bottle of prenatals and one bottle of DHA which is for the babies brain development. Each bottle is a one month supply. It is about $15 at Target but if you open the box before you buy it there is a coupon for $2 off. I open it and use the coupon each time I buy it. Also if you become nauseous like I did and it made me have a hard time swallowing the pills so I bought the gummies by vitafusion and they tasted pretty good as well.
Taking fish oil is great, except I would be careful during your pregnancy taking it. There is always a possibility of the oil having mercury in it (from fish) and that is why my OB told me to take one specific for pregnant women like expecta DHA, which is OTC. I can't think of any other brands, but that was the one recommended. I am sure any of the brands are fine if its not from fish.
I've heard that expecta is good.. but I just used similac, it's cheaper as well and has more iron since that's what I needed...
Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
I started using expecta....they help your breasts prepare for baby. I dry up really fast so I could use the extra help.
So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
So I Bought prenatal pills and they don't have dha. So when I had my 1st Dr appt at 5 weeks he said buy dha prenatal so I have been taking them. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and a few days ago I ran out so I been taking the prenatal pills without dha until I get paid. But I'm wondering is it even a big deal which pills i take since I'm out of 1st trimester?
Gummies do not have iton so if you get them you need an iron supplement. They made me sick, as did the one a day. Only enfamil expecta doesn't. Been taking them.
DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA)
Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility..
they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
One of my prenatal vitamins have DHA but no iron, and the other has iron but no DHA...The one with iron has a little higher percentage of vitamin C as well...which one should I take?
If I take the one with no DHA is it ok to takr Advocare Omega Plex supplement on the side? Or should I take the vitamin with DHA and take iron on the side?
