1192727 tn?1282735542 Fish oil capsules contain both DHA and EPA. Supplements containing EPA may not be recommended for infants or small children because they upset the balance between DHA and EPA during early development. Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking fish oil supplements. Fish oil capsules may cause minor side effects, such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, and belching. In addition, they may prolong bleeding time slightly.
Avatar n tn Idk what is in the pills you are talking about but if it doesnt have dha/epa i would suggest going ahead and taking actual prenatal vitamins. Dha is to help with brain development.
Avatar f tn the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary. i take this one. it is made specifically for pregnancy: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=YE-1021 hope this helps!
Avatar f tn My prenatals don't have DHA, should I switch from rainbow light?
Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
7062279 tn?1388370086 DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply).
Avatar n tn s version) but the dosage for ResQ1250 is 4-6 capsules per day for a capsule that has a much higher concentration of EPA and DHA?
Avatar f tn I used them for my first and current pregnancy. I like them fine. I feel they have everything I need but on the nauseous days it can be hard for me to swallow the two capsules and one is double the size of the other :p I'd still recommend them.
Avatar f tn My doc said there was no reason to get prescription prenatals, that otc were just as good. She recommended nature made prenatal capsules with dha. The dha is important. Often Walgreen's has nature made b1g1 which is nice. You'll need everything in the multivitamin more now than normal cause baby is using up your vitamins.
Avatar f tn My doc said there was no reason for a prescription, the OTC were just as good. I use the nature made prenatal liquid capsules plus dha. She said that was one of the better and more complete choices.
12584065 tn?1436320514 So i just got a bottle of DHA 600 from gnc tonight. It also is combined with 250 mg of EPA(omega 3). Is that too much? How much do u ladies take???
Avatar n tn ll get a lot of recommendations but I did a lot of research and reading of labels and finally settled on Brainstrong prenatals with DHA. It just seemed to have the highest level of all the important stuff, plus DHA which is good for growing those little brain cells.
Avatar f tn I guess I did not think about how much 1 tsp is compared to 2 capsules... it did not look like that much. I was taking 2 double dose capsules and then went ot 2 tsp.- to much for me at one time. I took a day off and I feel much better today. I will start back as you all recommend- tiny doses split up in the dayl Thanks again for all your help. I am happy I don't have to throw away the Carlson's liquid fish oil.
Avatar f tn Go to the pharmacy and get some otc prenatal vitamins with dha. Nature made with dha capsules are good and doctor recommended but there are other brands as well. Take them every night before bed (easier on stomach at night). Don't drink or smoke or take any medications. Relax. Have fun. Congratulations!
Avatar n tn EPA and DHA. The best source for both is fish oil. Aim for 1,000-3,000 mg total DHA and EPA. That's three to nine capsules a day of most brands. Take 1,500 mg of glucosamine sulfate and 1,200 mg of chondroitin a day. Take 500-1,500 mg of MSM per day. Also take Take 400 to 800 mg a day of Sam-e. A product from New Chapter called Zyflamend, contains rosemary, curcumin, and ginger that are anti-inflammatories.
1225070 tn?1344709174 DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils. You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins. I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com. Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!
Avatar f tn Best thing to do is ask your doctor for samples. They have plenty to give away. I survived off samples & never had to purchase vitamins during or after pregnancy. Plus, there's different types of vitamins some with dha, some that don't. I prefer dha. Then there's vitamins that contain stool softeners or nausea pills. I was nasuated in my firstttrimester, so the ones with nausea pills helped a lot.
Avatar f tn ) No harm there but be very sure to get Fish Oil or EPA DHA (Omega 3's) that are certified mercury and contaminate free. In this arena, the latest thing seems to be Krill oil. Its cleaner, more concentrated and the capsules are WAY smaller. ;) Vitamin D should be in the normal to high normal range. Most of us MSers started out with low D levels. There again a blood test will let you know where you stand on D. I was instructed to take L-Glutamine as well.
Avatar m tn I remember a couple of decades ago when there was a heatwave in the UK and France. People in France were dying of severe dehydration so the UK announced "drink lots of water, at least 2 litres a day". Everyone started to drink more and water consumption more than tripled. The government panicked and three days later the media said "drinking too much water is more dangerous than not drinking enough".
Avatar n tn I recently started taking the GNC brand of fish oil capsules, 1 a day (EPA-DHA) combined 300mg. It has completely stopped my pvc's. Maybe you've been taking too high a dose. Or maybe it just works for some, not all. Skippi's done a lot of research on it, I think. I'm just really glad I started it.
Avatar f tn I take the generic prescription. $10 for 90 at walmart.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me mine :)
