Our doctor prescribed the combination of folic acid,Pyridoxine and mecobalmin combination. But the pharmacy person gave me the following combination Folic acid,DHA,Pyridoxine and Mecobalmin. 1192727 tn?1282735542 Fish oil capsules contain both DHA and EPA. Supplements containing EPA may not be recommended for infants or small children because they upset the balance between DHA and EPA during early development. Pregnant women should talk to their doctor before taking fish oil supplements. Fish oil capsules may cause minor side effects, such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, and belching. In addition, they may prolong bleeding time slightly.
Avatar f tn My doc said there was no reason to get prescription prenatals, that otc were just as good. She recommended nature made prenatal capsules with dha. The dha is important. Often Walgreen's has nature made b1g1 which is nice. You'll need everything in the multivitamin more now than normal cause baby is using up your vitamins.
Avatar n tn Good afternoon mommies to be, i really like to know if its ok to use only ferro sanol duodenal capsules without any multivitamins throughout the pregnancy and the baby will be perfectly fine. any advice will be highly appreciated.
Avatar f tn the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary. i take this one. it is made specifically for pregnancy: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=YE-1021 hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Best thing to do is ask your doctor for samples. They have plenty to give away. I survived off samples & never had to purchase vitamins during or after pregnancy. Plus, there's different types of vitamins some with dha, some that don't. I prefer dha. Then there's vitamins that contain stool softeners or nausea pills. I was nasuated in my firstttrimester, so the ones with nausea pills helped a lot.
Avatar f tn I used them for my first and current pregnancy. I like them fine. I feel they have everything I need but on the nauseous days it can be hard for me to swallow the two capsules and one is double the size of the other :p I'd still recommend them.
Avatar f tn t eat seafood. They have 240mg of DHA and 360mg of EPA in 2 capsules. My doctor told me to take them, but online I've been finding that the fish oil and other things in the over the counter supplements may be bad during pregnancy. The pharmacist told me to stop taking them and check with my Dr but my Dr told me to take them. Just wondering if anyone else is taking extra Omega 3 Fatty acids, and if so, what kind?
Avatar f tn I bought the prenatal vitamin from Walmart. I also took and extra Folic Acid pill through the 1st triimester.
Avatar f tn ve done studies that show that babies who mothers take dha during pregnancy have less of a risk to develop autism and friends of mine who have took it throughout their pregnancy and through breastfeeding thier children seem advanced and very intellectually bright:)
Avatar m tn During 26 weeks of taking 4 capsules daily of concentrated fish oil (providing a daily total of 1,320 mg of EPA and 880 mg of DHA) rather than a placebo containing olive oil, 69.4% experienced at least a 50% improvement in symptom severity while only 40% of those given the placebo experienced this level of improvement. The greatest improvements were in depressive symptoms.

Avatar f tn Go to the pharmacy and get some otc prenatal vitamins with dha. Nature made with dha capsules are good and doctor recommended but there are other brands as well. Take them every night before bed (easier on stomach at night). Don't drink or smoke or take any medications. Relax. Have fun. Congratulations!
12584065 tn?1436320514 So i just got a bottle of DHA 600 from gnc tonight. It also is combined with 250 mg of EPA(omega 3). Is that too much? How much do u ladies take???
Avatar f tn My prenatals don't have DHA, should I switch from rainbow light?
Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
3136949 tn?1369524705 I was on just the capsules during my last pregnancy and lost it at 17wks:/ that's why im now on shots and a higher dose of pill I just dont want to go through another loss

415867 tn?1323365503 t been proven safe for use during pregnancy - also, supposedly your pregnancy hormones can make your skin react differently to the tanner and turn orange! I would not risk it.
Avatar f tn Having anxiety issues during pregnancy must be quite difficult for you, I can't even imagine. It's great that you're trying to stay off drugs and you've made it this far! I am taking the extra calcium because I do not eat that much dairy daily. When the baby's growing, it needs a lot of calcium for healthy bones and teeth.
