Common Questions and Answers about Detrol la overactive bladder

detrol

Avatar f tn They will put you on the new medicines for overactive bladder like Detrol LA or Vesicare. As for the being thristy--sometimes this is a side effect of medicines but you really need to be checked by a doctor right away. Hope this helped and everything is fine.
Avatar f tn i had all sorts of blood work done, kidney tests, diabetes, thyroid, liver...everything came out fine. i was loosely diagnosed with overactive bladder and i am on Detrol La, which i think has at least cut the number of times i go in half. i think that this condition is a result of two things: long term anti-depressant/anxiety medication and over use of caffeine(mainly soda). if i do not drink caffeinated soda, i do notice that i go less. it is still however a disruption of my daily life.
Avatar n tn I am a 20 y/o male. For a week or so now I've been having a constant urge to urinate. Not every 15 minutes, not every 5 minutes, it's always there. I feel no relief after urinating. The urge does not feel like the regular "bladder is full" urge. It feels like there is a little bit of urine left in the penis (the discomfort is coming from the penis). There are no other symptoms; I don't feel pain, there is no discharge, etc. I went to a doctor yesterday.
Avatar m tn ve tried many different overactive bladder medications, such as Detrol LA. I am now on Desmotabs, which I thank the world that I found, as this has all but stopped the night-time issue. Still, I wonder if there's anyone out there with my symptoms, that has found a way to best it. The D tabs are fantastic, and I can usually take a couple before going out with friends, and not have to make the usual 100 trips to the bathroom in a night, so it has greatly reduced my anxiety and embarrassment.
Avatar m tn I just read your post about Atrial Fib and meds for overactive bladder. I have Atrial Fib, and my doctor wanted to prescribe Vesicare. I read up on this med, and found it could cause irregular heartbeats. This makes me nervous. What medication are you currently taking for the bladder problem? Is it working for you, and does it cause a problem with the heart? I would like to hear from you since I'm right in the middle of trying to find the right med.
Avatar n tn Overactive bladder +/- a vaginal infection may be the problem. Urispas is a mild overactive bladder agent. There are many stronger ones including Detrol LA and Vesicare. If the vaginal swab and urine cultures come back negative you need to see a Urologist who specializes in female urology to evaluate for overactive bladder vrs. IC. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn VESICARE,ENABLEX OR DETROL LA..........I m male and 29 yrs old ,can i also take detrol la.....Any response should be highly appreciated..........
Avatar m tn I think you might have Overactive Bladder!! It is so common. I remember some stupid urologist giving me a painful test and telling me I had something else. I refused to take the meds as of side effects. Went to see another urologist who gave me Detrol LA and it worked! Now I go about one-half as many times as before. You need to find a doctor who can see if you have this very, very common condition. Good Luck to you.
Avatar f tn Drugs such as oxybutynin chloride (Ditropan®) and tolterodine (Detrusitol®, Detrol LA®) are taken orally, once a day, for overactive bladder. You can consult your doctor for these options. Also, I suggest you can initiate antibiotics like ofloxacin for better management of the infection.
Avatar n tn Hi, My doctor had tried me on Vesicare but the side effects out weight the benefits. I was given Buscopan and Detrol LA to cope with bladder problems. I had a lot of problems with pain spasms and urgency. The Buscopan and Detrol LA help but in a case where I have severe pain, I now use Morphine.
Avatar n tn The usual treatments for this condition are pelvic muscle strengthening exercises, behavioural therapy and medication( detrol la) etc. Also, if you are urinating very frequently check the amount of fluid intake, check blood sugars and get a urine analysis with culture done. Before going in for any over the counter medicines I would advise to visit a urologist for confirmation of diagnosis and further assistance on treatment. Best.
Avatar f tn m wondering if my doctor could prescribe something to help with my overactive bladder so I could keep taking the Lexapro or if I should just take something else instead. Lexapro is good in ways because it produces fewer side effects than any other SSRI med that I've tried and I've tried many of them. What do you think?
Avatar f tn what can I do to feel better all he time? Will this overactive bladder ever get better? Do I have to take medication for the rest of my life? Please let me hear from someone who can answer my questions. Thank you . . .
Avatar f tn You probably have what is called "overactive bladder". In an overactive bladder, the normal contractions that our bladders have as it fills and gives us the urge to urinate, are just that - overactive - and it takes less urine in the bladder to trigger these contractions. There are some newer medications on the market that can help reduce the symptoms, however, you'll have to discuss with your doctor whether any of them is right for you, based on your medical history, etc.
Avatar n tn I worked for a urologist and we used a TENS unit type treatment called Uroplasty, that stimulates the tibial nerve with aids with bladder control. Detrol LA is also the highest recommended urinary incontinence treatment by physicians. Hope this helps a little.
Avatar f tn I had the sling and hyterectomy also. I have overactive bladder also. I am having problems with the sling. Pain and I really feel like I want to rip it out somedays. Depending on the chair and how long I sit. My urethea area falls asleep. Tingling sensations that last for several minutes and spasms. The sling may be to tight. I don't want to go through surgery again. The Dr wanted to loosen it up. I don't think that is the answer.
Avatar f tn Interstitial Cystitis and overactive bladder are both sensory urgency problem, and sometimes difficult to distinguish. We also know that many patients have both problems. I would start by treating you with an overactive bladder medication like ditropan or vesicare and see what happens to your symptoms. If they no not respond, then treating you IC may be the ultimate solution. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn One urinologist said I was a confusing case because I urinate a lot like an overactive bladder, but even though I urinate a lot, I still retain urine in my bladder and it's like an underactive bladder. The first urinologist recommended different medications, but nothiing helped.
Avatar n tn I now use Detrol LA and Buscopan to combat these spasms. It does not get rid of them but it does dull the intensity.
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar f tn You give in to go and your lucky to pee half a teaspoon, but it felt like you are holding back niagra falls. I have an overactive bladder. You need to cut down all your coffee, pop, tea, alcohol, and spicy food. Drink plenty of water. I know I know. More fuel for the fire, but 2 32oz bottles a day or you will get dehydrated on the medicine I am about to recommend. For me, Detrol LA, Vesicare, Enablex didn't do anything for me.They helped, but not fully or it gave up entirely on me.
Avatar n tn He took another specimen and everything was clear. He gave me a weeks supply of Detrol LA.(not sure why because its not like I am having to go all the time I just feel like I do) I am still taking it on my third day. I am still not feeling normal. My belly feels bloated or full. I was just curious as to what could be making me feel this way and what should I do next. Is it my bladder or something else? Or can I still have an infection or could the infections have damaged my bladder?
Avatar m tn This was not it. Almost a week ago, my doctor prescribed Detrol LA 2mg (Tolterodine L-tartrate 2mg) capsules, to be taken once a day. I first started taking them a week and a half ago, and they don't seem to have had an effect. It's for a condition called "overactive bladder", however, the symptoms of this condition don't really match mine. I also drink lots of water every day, and I don't have diabetes.
1168317 tn?1330262837 My neuro had prescribed me detrol LA. I went from getting up 6-8 times a night down to 1-2 times, sometimes 3. It took about 2 months for the meds to make a difference. It really helped with the urgency issue too. This needs to be dealt with ASAP, especially if it's prostrate related.
Avatar n tn Last November a UTI turned into a horrible kidney infection that ended up in her being admitted to the childrens hospital for 5 days. The diagnosis I recieved was overactive bladder. I disagree with this because, she does not use the bathroom frequently, no more so than any of my other girls did. I told the doctors this, but their reasoning for the overactive bladder was that she gets bad urgency and she "leaks" .
Avatar m tn “In people with an overactive bladder (OAB), the layered, smooth muscle that surrounds the bladder (detrusor muscle) contracts spastically, sometimes without a known cause, which results in sustained, high bladder pressure and the urgent need to urinate (called urgency).” “A malfunctioning detrusor muscle causes overactive bladder.
Avatar n tn Yes, both cystoscopes showed bladder lining clear and pink, no irritation, got the microlab back today and no cancer cells, so that was good, only thing abnormal was the WBC Esterase was abnormal and Urologist said back to stronger antibiotic, Doxcycycline, and Detrol La to relieve muscle spasm... does that sound like urologist is on the right track? Thank you for your reply.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Detrol for overactive bladder, however I do not feel a difference with this medication. My gynecologist had my draw blood for a PCOS blood panel and it came back normal expect for elevated levels of testosterone. I am scheduled to see an endocrinologist next month. No one has diagnosed me with overactive bladder or Interstitial Cystitis / Painful Bladder Syndrome. Intercourse is also very painful, it seems to only exacerbate my condition.
