desmopressin platelets

My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.

There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.

t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.

today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.

DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). I just returned from a hepatologist and was told that my platelets are 148, x10e3/ul, reference interval 140-415 and that i am in stage 2 or 3. Genotype 2b, viral load 505,010, ast 68, alt 94. I feel fine and keep myself in good shape with a good diet and exercise regularly. Wouldn't i have fibrosis if i'm in stage 2 or 3 ? Have monitored this closely and no one has ever told me that. The doctor recommends interferon/ribivarin treatment.

my liver gets better over time as I hope it will, and my PHT gets better my IDS believes that my platelets will increase. My platelets remained the same during my treatment with S&O. At my last visit (SVR24 cured/discharged) she said that the ID Clinic was seeing remarkable things happening to their patients who are now cured. People are literally coming back from the brink.

hi everyone, in the past month my platelets have gone from 483 to 559 and i am anemic hg 94, any suggestions? I am waiting to have some tests done but still 2 weeks away from that.

i developed sickle cell, tear drop, low platelets....the low platelets never has been back to normal and wonder if that is why i often feel bad..one of the reasons anyway as i read that it can make one feel sick and tired. The large platelets..as told to me by the docs..is the body making up for the low count...and they also found a thrombosis in the spleen duct although spleen is normal and functioning very well. hi, I haven't even began the meds as yet. Oct. 14. but, my platelets keep going down and down. they went to 50 and every two months have blood tests with my oncologist.and he mentioned that we don't want them at 30 or that meant a plasma transplant.. so thank the LORD.. last week they stayed the same 'adequate' as they would say.. geez, now ,maybe I won't be able to begin the meds until they do something with these platelets.... hmm... don't like this.
