Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
407651 tn?1224189895 however i usually am carefull as to what i take as it seems that if i drink alchol i get really bad pains for days and ph goes up. i cant take nsaids, dihydrocodein and some other medications including diuretics as they all seem to cause me kidney pain. the last tests shwed that my kidneys were ok. however i am having problems with my heart rate and am in process getting a POTS diagnosis.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn The outlook is better for secondary (it just means that the PH was caused by something else like sleep apnea). The doctors that generally handle PH are pulmonary docs and they specialize in PH. I'm sorry to say that I don't know any docs in CT but you could always call the NIH (national institute for health) in Bethsda, MD and they could recommend a doctor that is specialized in PH.
Avatar n tn today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.

7463583 tn?1391012330 Thank you. I'm a vegetarian most of the time, so there is very little meat and oil in my diet, but I do eat cheese and yogurt. It wouldn't be east to give then up. I'll start by trying the baking soda and lemon juice.
Avatar m tn I lost the other one during a surgery to remove a large kidney stone. A Doctor in Spartanburg, SC told me my urine needs to be at ph 7.0, otherwise is easy to produce stones. Well having only one kidney left I am worried about the ph being too acidic and losing my only kidney! How can I reduce it? I live in Honduras, Central America, I donĀ“t have the resources to travel to the US, see a Doctor and buy prescription Urocit-K which I was prescribes back in 2008.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn I am very upset that no one seems to take note of a harmless virus known as the adeno associated virus type 2 that plays a critical role in terminating the HPV virus as well as cervical, breast, prostate and squamous cell cancers in SIX DAYS.
Avatar f tn One thing not mentioned and would further check out the doctors website is the effects of unbound magnesium on hypothyroidism MAgnesium is the PH level balancer for hypothyroid - and if your are not holding on to magnesium as many thyroid patients - then your Ph levels excelerate and bloat and water retention happen - sometimes severe. I fought many months with bloating and is better now getting on mag.
1282521 tn?1271440272 Yes. It showed that i actually have reflux...medication doesn`t help. Is there any other surgical alternative but not fundoplication. I really thank your help.
Avatar f tn I went to a new GI specialist yesterday, doubled Nexium to 80 mg daily, and 20 mg of baclofen to control cough. The other option that was suggested was to repeat an endoscopy and do pH monitoring. I was on info. overload and should have slowed the dr. down, but opted for another try at meds instead of the scope. If I have not responded to drug therapy to control reflux during the past 3 or more months is there reason to believe that this will work?
Avatar f tn I actually just got diagnosed with vb and got put on antibiotics to fix the ph balance and infection
