Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar n tn this occurrs sometimes 10 times a night. I also get the feeling in the afternoon and evening but it is not bothersome that i need to urinate immediately. i only have the problem when im tryin to sleep. i can hold it in but is obviously uncomfotable. ive had a few prostrate checks, ostoscopy and bladder biopsies over the years but they have not shown any problems. I also had my bladder stretched which was futile and would not havre it done again. ive seen a few specialists.
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.

Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am 20 years old female and I wet my bed (urinate) at night sometimes. Can you suggest any logical explanation for this problem? I do not have any other health problems.
Avatar f tn Hi eryts, old post but just wanted to find out if you were able to wean off Desmopressin? How are your urine test results? Do you think you still have diabetes insipidus? Your wean off doesn't sounds good: every 20 minutes going to toilet..I personally don't go that often at this point. I just drink a lot and urinate most of calcium out..I was diagnosed recently and suggested to take Desmopressin. Hesitant about starting it as I'm trying to wean off prednisolone..
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar n tn Step 2 is to eliminate treatments that are not working. IF the Desmopressin is not working, then it should be discontinued. Same for the Elmiron if you've been on it for at least 6 months. If the amitriptyline doesn't work, or you have tolerance problems, bladder instillations of a medication to directly affect the symptoms is an option. You live in Oakland county--- Dr. Ken Peters at William Beaumont Hospital is the closest Dr.

7734321 tn?1393759964 Dear LucyEvony It sounds like evrything was well done in preparation for your surgery. It is not uncommum that we do not see a tumor in a MRI in patients with Cushing´s disease. It is pretty standard to remove half of the gland and it is called hemihypophysectomy. Where are you in Australia, I know many surgeons over there.
Avatar m tn If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn You saying you are an impatient person does not mean diddly. Just because you are impatient does not mean the medication is going to work faster for you. The reality is because you are impatient, you need to find things to occupy your mind. Start an exercise program, practice meditation, get outside and chop some wood. Anything that is going to take you away from sitting in your house feeling sorry for yourself. Like I said, we have all been where you are.
