Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn sorry forget to mention that doc told me start on the desmopressin once i was clear of the bronchitis.. so still in the box. also he said i probably wouldnt see any results within a month... not really encouraged.
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar m tn Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn He said something like how the hypothalmus gets in shock at first from the trauma and needs DDAVP, but then it recovers. Now in your case (just as mine), I know what you mean when you say you go to the bathroom alot AND get thirsty when off the pill, as do I. But see, when you urinate ALOT, you will get thirsty...And, it's possible that one on this pill can be urinating alot when the next dose is near, because that dose is waring off. Which means, the retained water, is being released!

Avatar m tn Hi Im 24 years old female, I have problem of bed wetting since childhood, very often I see dream that i am using washroom in my dreams, but wake up to see myself wet in BED. This doesnt happen daily but once in 2 weeks or so. Could you please guide me on how to get this treated ?? As this has been little embarrasing to me as I am quite mature now...
Avatar f tn It is caused by problems with the antidiuretic hormone (vasopressin) that helps to regulate the amount of liquid in the body. The hormone is made by the hypothamalums which is in the pituitary gland. In diabetes insipidus, there is either not enough hormome being produced, or there is enough hormone but the kidneys fail to respond.
Avatar f tn I even had our well water tested and it was fine. Can you help me in figuring out what going on and where I can lead my daughter doctor in the right direction to solve this problem she is having.
Avatar n tn i use to wet the bed all the time up until i was like 14 its nothing to be ashamed about.
1980489 tn?1326255851 The symptoms are the same in adults as in children - but keep in mind that not every adult has every symptom and neither does every child. I had it - and we all present pretty differently even though we are the same? Muscle fatigue means that exercise is pretty much a disaster - and the fatigue is overwhelming.
Avatar n tn are their any adults who took it as a child and had long-term negative or positive effects? Does it slow growth in children? Are their negative effects on school performance? I would really appreciate a doctor's opinion, or any other person who has had a child who has taken Prozac. Thanks so much.
Avatar n tn What are her chances of becoming diabetic? Her doctor said hypoglycemia sometimes precedes diabetes in children. Is is possible to "grow out of" hypoglycemia? If so, what are the chances of this happening?
454366 tn?1211245301 Please read the info on www.jonbarron.org on Bi-Polar disorder in children. The info is kinda scary; but I think you might help with finding other avenues to take. Peace be with you and keep the faith. Our kids are our future. Let's not just dope them up because we are told to. Let's not dope ourselves up either.
Avatar n tn I adopted an 11 year old girl she has a prescription of -5.25 in one eye and -6.25 in the other. (An increase in prescription of about -.75 in each eye over the year before) How much worse is she likely to get before her vision stabilizes?? Is her vision likely to keep her from driving when she comes of age??
Avatar f tn First, I havent heard of explosive behavior disorder. (in children) In adults, this type of thing would show up as an Axis II personality disorder. In children, particularly 4 (very young for this kind of diagnosis, ADD/ADHD as well - and I would hold off on the meds until a second or third opinion is obtained..cheaper than treatment I'm sure...) ALSO - (I have personal experience in this - my 5 yr old girl had wild tantrums, and I was very worried,, and took her to different drs...
