Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar n tn If either the day 3 or the day 10 level exceed 10, then your clomid challenge test is positive. FSH comes from the pituitary gland, which is located at the base of the skull, and drives the ovary to make estrogen and mature an egg. If your ovaries are not working as well as they should, then your pituitary reacts by increasing the FSH level to 'push' the ovary. Thus the level of 20 means your ovaries have fewer eggs. How to interpret this FSH level depends on your age.
Avatar m tn The doctor advised me to undergo Methacholine challenge test. I am somehow apprehensive of taking this test inview of the side effects. I wish to know if theMethacholine challenge test will have any side effects, immediatly or in the long run, and if I can safely take the test. I request for a reply ASAP.
Avatar m tn well the irony is that I am a medical doctor and for years I realized that my endocrino fellow did not understand my case. I have tried auto supplementation with hydrocortisone and even desmopressin ( I urinate frequently as soon as i drink and somnolent even during my consultation). it is only last week when I decide to take levothyrox that i have started feeling better.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has experienced diabetes insipidus? The reason for the test is because I have been extremely thirsty and urinating almost every 1.5 hours a day. I received a copy of the test results. They tested my ADH level (arginine vasopressin) The results are L<1.0 Range:1.0-13.3 They say there are different types of diabetes insipidus, basically that the kidneys are not doing what they are supposed to do or a pituitary issue.
Avatar m tn You would need to stop taking it for a day or two before the test because of the long acting bronchodilator otherwise yes it might affect the test.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
270696 tn?1243548020 I got the results from my day 21 progesterone. I definately did not ovulate this cycle. It's so disappointing. I feel foolish for getting my hopes up. I was taking clomid 50 mg. It worked for me in September of last year, but I had a miscarriage. So, my ob/gyn said that the next step would be the clomid challenge test. I've read some stuff about it on the internet, since she called me today. But, does anyone else have advice about the clomid challenge?
Avatar f tn When I first took her in, I was concerned because of the large amounts and the very strong odor it causes along with inflammation to the surrounding skin. All urine test came back fine ( urine sample). However she had no reason why the odor was so bad. I even had our well water tested and it was fine. Can you help me in figuring out what going on and where I can lead my daughter doctor in the right direction to solve this problem she is having.
711326 tn?1297868510 The RE ordered a clomid challenge test and wanted them to count each follicle that was greater than 10mm. I had none which was what they wanted. We could tell there were a lot of follicles developing and my right ovary is going to be dominant this month with 5 big follicles measuring .55 and a little bit smaller. The dr called in my clomid prescription so today is day one out of five. They are hoping for a FSH level of 10 or less on day 10. My endometrial lining on CD2 was 2.8 mm.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Are antibiotics always discontinued prior to the test with an antibiotic challenge? If so, for how long? Or do ya'll think it makes a difference if I just continue the antibiotics throughout? Has anyone had a successful antibiotic challenge?
Avatar f tn My Endo wants me to do a biopsy, but I am concerned as I have Von Willenbrands Factor VIII deficiency, and had a bleeding problem in July from a deep tooth scaling (which probably was made worse by going to a dental surgeoun after who probably dug deeper) and I ended up on Amacar for 10 days and two rounds of Desmopressin IVs. In the past, I have had a couple of needle biopsies in the breast with no problems. I will contact my hemotologist, but was also looking for another opinion.
7551604 tn?1392930411 What was/is your biggest challenge with you having a big ol belly? Mine is putting on my shoes and cleaning the bathtub.
Avatar m tn This is the results of the provocholine(r) challenge test. we started at 0.025 and went up to 25.00, FVC was 101% premeasurement, and only changed 1%. FEV1 108% premeasurement and only changed 1%. FEF25-75% 123% premeasurement, changed 9% to 111%. PEF was 137% changed 3%. They are saying it is conclusive enough for not having asthma, I stopped the flovent about a week before the test. I hadn't taken any bronchodilators for about 1 month before the test.
Avatar m tn If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
8734227 tn?1405101066 Anyone else have to the baby do the car seat challenge before they could get discarded? ? My little guy was 5lbs 7oz and the hospital consider him a preemie.. (born at 39weeks 1day).. he has done great on all the test /blood work. .. but right before we were getting discarded yesterday they told me he has to sit in his car seat for 90minutes and his heart rate and oxygen need to be watched. . He faled yesterday with ten min left..24hours later and he is in the test again!!
Avatar f tn Was this your day 3 FSH with or without the clomid challenge test? 11 is good if this was the result under the challenge. But, if this was your result prior to challenge it may be less so. Mine was 6.7 one month and 7.3 the next on day 3 minus the challenge. BUT, on the challenge it jumped to 13.73 (borderline). Ask your RE for more info and good luck!
