Avatar n tn My father had a brain tumor removed and now has to take a nasal spray called Desmopressin. His endocranologist only wants him to use it one time a day, but the problem is he goes to the bathroom sometimes every 15 minutes!!!! He is also on 1/2 mg of Dexamethasone and that's part of the problem. Sometimes he takes two puffs a day but the doctor doesn't want him to do that daily.
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn t mention in your question what medication you were taking. Commonly central DI is treated with desmopressin. Desmopressin works by limiting the amount of water passed in the urine. I don't know why you would suddenly notice a decrease in your symptoms after 34 years. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular doctor to see what might be causing this. Until you can be seen, it is important that you remain aware of your fluid intake and output.
Avatar f tn Are the store brand diapers just as good as the name brand ones like Huggies and pampers? My mom tells me you should by the store brand to save money because they work just as well, but is that true? What do you guys use? I just want to save money but I don't want my baby to have to be soaked in it's poop and pee because I cut corners on diapers. Advice please!
Avatar n tn talk to your doctor about desmopressin, it works.
Avatar n tn I had a total thyroidectomy 2 mo ago and have not felt right since 4 days of being placed on brand name these signs have started to decrease. If these are related do you know when I will feel completely better?
Avatar m tn It is possible, Thyroid meds are funny, what works well for one does not work well for others, I was on (Generic) Levothyroxine for six months and my labs did not budge, then went to Synthroid (brand Name) and had better sucess, my endo claimed that generics were not as consistant as name brand. Pharmacy said they are the same? So the change may have made a difference, some times the fillers they use can cause issues also.
Avatar n tn m going to save myself $200 and try to trust the generic, or buy the brand name again. Its just nice, a rare luxury for me to have a brand name medication of any kind and its the most important one for me. I trust the original maker very much. And here's my argument on the whole generic thing. Sure the FDA Tested a batch of each clonazepam generic maker's pills, but it has to be understood that not every single pill or batch can be tested.
Avatar f tn I've read all the comments here and today I called a refill in for Brand Name Klonpin...I've been taking the generic for years. I will post back and let you know if I feel a difference.
Avatar n tn today the consultant gave me tablets called desmopressin acetate. i understand they reduce urine amounts. will try but cant see them working well. Any new ideas or anyone with same prob please help.
Avatar m tn Is there a medication for Diabetes Insipidus other than Desmopressin? The headaches as a side affect are dibilitating. This discussion is related to peuatrygland diabetts.
Avatar f tn So originally i had the name Tailyn && my mom chose the middle name L'orèal && my bf is letting me choose the name. But he told me recently that L'orèal is much cutter && i should switch it. Idk What do you think???
Avatar f tn Off brand and name brand are the same... they have to be. Tums is safe during pregnancy.
Avatar m tn Klonpin is the brand name, manufactured by Roche Laboratories. Clonazepam is the generic form.
Avatar f tn can anyone explain the difference between the brand name Lexapro and the generic brand? i was reading your posts. my boyfriend was on the brand name lexapro and switched to the chemical brand in June. since then he has been spriraling downhill, out of control is there that much of a difference in brand name and off brand?
574118 tn?1305135284 I completely agree with you. The generics are not the same as name brand and the fillers or other ingredients in them can change the way they work. I've been advised for years only to get name brands and do so as the cost between the two is negligible for me, a $3 per script difference. Remember, pharmacies make much more profit on the generics than the name brands. My Dr.'s always write the brand name and DAW in the bottom box to be sure I get the brand name.
168348 tn?1379357075 Generics are just a name change only, from high cost brands name medicines to low cost brand name medicines. Just like all other products sold here in the US: Toilet paper, clothing, clothes soaps, and foods, etc., etc., etc. I buy a lot of generic products, which are made by brand name companies, with the same ingredients. Its the advertising of the "Brand Name" products that is where the high cost comes from.
Avatar f tn im sorry if that sounded mean!!
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn There seems to be a general consensus that the generic bupropion and the Name Brand Wellbutrin are quite different. Why doesn't everyone that comments on taking on or the other mention if they are taking the generic or name brand? I think if they did we would get a much better idea of the differences.
