Avatar n tn For my whole life, I have had problems with bedwetting; I wake up in the night and my bed is soaked with pee and it is not a matter of me being lazy. ( I do not have incontinence during the day). There are times when this problem has gotten better, but it has never completely gone away and has always been an issue that I worry about and am deeply embarrassed about and ashamed of. It has been especially bad recently (I wet the bed 3 times this week), and is making me feel depressed and hopeless.
Avatar n tn On those days (when he takes two puffs) he only goes to the bathroom 4-5 times the whole day, which is great because I can take him places and get him out of the house. Does anyone know or take Desmopressin more often than one time a day??? If so how many times?? Any information would be helpful!!
Avatar m tn But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn If you are negative and critical, your daughter will take that in and think of herself as defective in some way. Nocturnal enuresis occurs with a small percentage of children her age and it will eventually stop. Try to be patient, understanding and supportive. The condition has nothing to do with her intelligence; she is not wanting this to happen; she cannot control it.

Treating the definite cause will treat the enuresis. Your physician is the best person to give you an answer for this. I hope things are better now. I know you are worried about this but do stay positive and get to learn more about this condition. Do not hesitate to ask your physician questions regarding anything which concerns you.
572021 tn?1330905654 The terms encopreis and enuresis are simply descriptive terms. Simply because your son is soiling himself and wetting himself indicates that the terms apply to him. Now, the bigger question is why this may be occurring. Can you offer some more details? Has he been completely toilet trained? For how long did he go without soiling or wetting himself? When did the behaviors start to occur? What is the pattern (e.g., how frequent, when during the day/night) of his soiling and wetting?
Avatar f tn Usually what happens is when starting meds for AD, you wind up, through trial and error, going through sometimes MAny meds and dosages before you get to the one that "Works for You"..I am starting on my 4th one tomorrow. Hoping it will be the "one". I would certainly give your doc a call tomorrow as you should not have to continue tdeal w/ those symptoms. Is it a Cardio who rx'ed you this?
Avatar m tn I have a 10 y.o. girl who has primary enuresis and wets her bed nightly, has seen a urologist (no medical conditions), taken meds and used an alarm without success on numerous occasions. We are all frustrated and her self esteem is fragile. She has never had a sleepover. She is a deep sleeper and we know it is a sleep disorder. The programs offered are cost prohibited. Does anyone have some guidance, suggestions? The Malem multi sound and vibratory alarm doesn't wake her.
723488 tn?1278339300 My 11 year old son has had problems with constipation since potty trained. Dr put him on Glycolax the past 5 years to help him go regularly. Its like he doesn't feel that he needs to go. I have to make him go in and sit -then he'll go. If i 4get to make him -and 2 days go by -he ends up in the ER because he's in severe pain and it bulges out his left side(under ribs) and he screams if you touch his side. Could there be something else wrong besides just constipation?
Avatar m tn My daughter has had developmental delays since she was a baby, last year we decided to do and MRI and EEG as her delyas were becoming more predominant at 9 yrs old. Scar tissue was found in different part of her brains. We saw a Neuro Psychologist and was told her intellectual scores are very low. Her learning levels are at K to 1st grade even though she's in 4th grade. She is getting services in school and has been opted out of standard testing.
Avatar f tn i went to the er and had my blood work taken and urine taken and all the test results came back fine nothing wrong does anyone else know a reason why this would be happening?
Avatar n tn when i then urinate it is only a very small amount but my bladder feels empty and i can go to sleep.. this occurrs sometimes 10 times a night. I also get the feeling in the afternoon and evening but it is not bothersome that i need to urinate immediately. i only have the problem when im tryin to sleep. i can hold it in but is obviously uncomfotable. ive had a few prostrate checks, ostoscopy and bladder biopsies over the years but they have not shown any problems.
Avatar n tn Hi, You had underwent a thorough assessment and seems like incontinence and interstitial cystitis were ruled out. When was the last time you had a cystoscopy done? Were you able to get some blood tests done.Hormonal imbalance due to pituitary dysfunction and diabetes may lead to increased urinary frequency( after structural problems like stones have ben ruled out) .Also are you previously taking any medications?
Avatar n tn Jones, E.A.Urinary Incontinence in Children.retrieved from http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/statistics/uda/Urinary_Incontinence_in_Children-Chapter12.pdf on May 24,2008. Thus, based on what has been mentioned above, a complete physical and neurologic examination have to be done to help rule out an organic cause first. Functional causes of incontinence may be evaluated later on when the organic causes have been excluded. Are there any issues on your child's development?
Avatar m tn I get facial migraines and am extrmely sensitive to light, sun, smells and loud noises. You?
Avatar n tn The reasons for his accidents are most likely the confusing changes in his life, and he just has not learned to cope yet, and the bullying is only making matters worse, and if it's not stopped now, the 'teasing' could follow him for most or the rest of his life. It might not be such a bad idea for him to move School if the bullying does not calm down. Every boy and girl needs a hassle free start in life.

Avatar m tn this is a big step for me and very embarrassing i have been bed wetting all my life im 22 years old now i have a 2 year old son and live with my partner, he has to wake me up at night to let me no ive wet because i dont even realise, this can happen maybe 7 days a week ive tried tablets but nothing works for me the doctors are at a loose end no one knows what to do with me and this is ruining my life !!! please help ?
Avatar f tn Nocturnal enuresis has nothing to do with toilet training in the sense that it applies during the day. A certain percentage of children (approx. 5-10% depending on age) remain enuretic at night even when they are trained during the day. You should not be waking her up - there is no point. Over time this will resolve itself, with you really doing nothing. This depends more on development than on anything you do or do not do.
Avatar n tn We have a daughter who is 17 years old and has seemed very inmature has extreme trouble completeing school work but when she does complete, the work and turns it in carries a easy "A" she loves to read. Has read all the books in connection to the Twilght Movie. She has wet the bed almost every night since she came to live with us 4 years agao and her father says she has always been a bedwetter all her life.
Avatar n tn Our almost-11 year old daughter continually wets herself day and night and doesn't seem to care about it. She often will continue to sit and play or do her activity as if nothing happens. This has been an issue for us for years. We have tried disciplining her, rewarding her, setting timers, having her wear a nighttime monitor, etc. Her pediatrician says she's physically fine. We know of no other physical issues nor are we aware of any particular psychological traumatic events.
Avatar m tn Hi, Do not feel embarrassed, such problems are quite common and doctors are there to help you. So, do consult a urologist and get appropriate treatment. Here is a link that gives a lot of details about this problem: http://www.nafc.
Avatar f tn It is towards no one in particular and no real reason. He also suffers from bad headaches and still wets the bed. I am at a loss what to do as he has already been suspended once.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately I pee/ and get thirsty without the med. Right now I am taking the smallest pill, and break it in half. I take it before I go to bed. I seem to be able to do ok without taking it during the day (because I can drink/pee as much as i need to. If I do not take the DDAVP at night I wake up 4-6 times needing to drink water and pee. What test said that you do not need DDAVP? The water deprivation test is the gold standard. I hope to hear from you.
Avatar n tn My son will be turning 5 in march. Quick background : he and his twin sister were born 6 wks premature weighing 2 lbs 15 oz. He has minor developmental delays which he has mostly caught up with the help of therapies and special ed pre-school.  He has minor digestinal issues as well, no food allergies but we suspect some intolerances. My concern is that he still wears diapers at night which are full in the morning.
