Avatar m tn About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with an overactive bladder after doing all the tests. I was put on Vesicare 5 mg daily and also was taking fluoxetine for depression and anxiety over this condition. After taking the meds for awhile my symptoms went away and I was symptom free for 3 years. Because of the expense of the vesicare and because I was doing so well. I decided to stop taking both medications. My bladder was fine and normal and then about a year later the symtoms came back.
Avatar f tn So I have an overactive bladder that came from giving birth to my first 2 kids. It caused my bladder to lower and have pressure. and being pregnant my doctor said I couldn't take antibiotics. So I really going to h.eck trying to deal with an over active bladder which makes me urinate every half hour, plus the pregnancy that also makes me urinate even more. So I literally go to the restroom every 15 min. I'm so frustrated by it I wanna cry.
Avatar f tn m wondering if my doctor could prescribe something to help with my overactive bladder so I could keep taking the Lexapro or if I should just take something else instead. Lexapro is good in ways because it produces fewer side effects than any other SSRI med that I've tried and I've tried many of them. What do you think?
Avatar m tn I just read your post about Atrial Fib and meds for overactive bladder. I have Atrial Fib, and my doctor wanted to prescribe Vesicare. I read up on this med, and found it could cause irregular heartbeats. This makes me nervous. What medication are you currently taking for the bladder problem? Is it working for you, and does it cause a problem with the heart? I would like to hear from you since I'm right in the middle of trying to find the right med.
Avatar n tn HI, You sound like you have the classic symptoms of overactive bladder. Overactive bladder (OAB) is driven by the strong ugency to urinate. It commonly causes urinary frequency and many patients get up at night to void. About a thrid of overactive bladder patients can't make it to the toilet and leak urine on the way.
Avatar n tn HI, It sounds like you had two problems that resulted in the bedwetting episode. First, it sounds like you have overactive bladder. Overactive bladder symptoms are urinary urgency, frequency and sometimes getting up at night to void. 5% of 25 yr olders have overactive bladder. You either have a structurally small bladder or its a functional problem where low volumes of urine in your bladder trigger the urge to void. Patients with overactive bladder "tend to urinate frequently".
Avatar f tn Over the course of the year I avoided acidic food and drink and took various herbs known to soothe the bladder which slowly seemed to get rid of it. Since then I just seem to get an overactive/irritated bladder after a glass of red wine or my bladder feels irritated if I drink a ginger-based smoothie or something else like that.
Avatar n tn I recently had what was diagnosed as a gall bladder attack. I had a scan of some sort done to "study" my gall bladder, and the result was that I actually have an "overactive" gall bladder. The attack lasted a full week although the intense pain lasted two days. For that week, I was rarely hungry and ate only fat free and cholesterol free foods. Since that week, I have felt totally fine and have been eating whatever I want.
Avatar f tn What medication is the favorite for Overactive Bladder? So far, I've been thru two of them. I believe I have five more to go. Please let me get some feedback from those of you who have this problem, and are taking meds that work.
136956 tn?1688675680 Before my surgery last year in June I always had an overactive bladder. It seems to have gotten worse since my surgery I was diagnosed with Stage IV endo they did a bladder resection and severed the nerves in my pelvis which i heard can cause this problem. Even when i think that I am done it still comes pooring out. After my surgery I had to get a cathader put in because i couldnt Pee the same thing happened after the birth of my daughter 5 yrs ago.
Avatar n tn The urine culture came back negative. He now thinks I have a vaginal irritation from the urine and overactive bladder and percribed ditropan. At night the burning seems worse but I am only up a couple of times. Also the burning is worse when sitting and lessens when standing. I also have pain in my left overy. He has completed an internal and vaginal swab. How can you tell the difference between overactive bladder and Interstitial Cystitis?
1494915 tn?1288919486 I believe that you might be referring to Overactive Bladder, a condition caused by sudden involuntary contraction (overactivity) of the bladder detrusor muscles that results in urgency and incontinence. There are treatments that can help, such as anticholinergic agents that target the muscarinic receptors in the bladder, and they reduce the contractility of the muscles in the bladder.
Avatar m tn I suggest you to consult a urologist and discuss these treatment options with him. First of he will assess the degree of overactive bladder and then he will decide the best treatment for that. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Well, I don't think it's an overactive bladder because I constantly have bladder pressure, not a sudden urge to urinate. Also, I can tell that my bladder is inflamed when I press against my abdomen. I am only 32, I don't know why I am experiencing this problem?
Avatar f tn It is good that your urine culture is fine. Overactive bladder (OAB) is a condition wherein the layered, smooth muscle that surrounds the bladder (detrusor muscle) contracts spastically which results in sustained, high bladder pressure and the urgent need to urinate. Identifiable underlying causes include the following: nerve damage caused by abdominal trauma, pelvic trauma, or surgery; bladder stones; drug side effects; or neurological disease.

721523 tn?1331581802 Solifenacin succinate (VESIcare) Solifenacin succinate elicits competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist activity, which results in anticholinergic effect and inhibition of bladder smooth muscle contraction. It is indicated for overactive bladder with symptoms of urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence." http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/453539 I am leaning toward underactive bladder as my problem, but don't meet with the urologist until next week.
Avatar n tn Your primary care doctor can probably can get you started on treatment for overactive bladder while you wait for the specialist appointments.
5509293 tn?1428531475 If bladder muscles become too active, you may feel a strong urge to go to the bathroom when you have little urine in your bladder. This is urge incontinence or overactive bladder. There are other causes of incontinence, such as nerve damage and for this your neurologist may getting brain MRI’s done. Treatment depends on the type of problem you have and what best fits your lifestyle.
Avatar n tn Are you saying the TUMT probably doesn't have anything to do with the overactive bladder?
Avatar n tn If dibetes is ruled out then other possibilities which need to be ruled out are prostatitis(inflammation of the prostate gland),interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder syndrome, stroke and other neurological diseases, urinary incontinence, bladder cancer(rare) and bladder dysfunction . Pls consult a urologist in that case. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar n tn I have had a frequent urge to urinate and bladder pressure for a few weeks. The pressure became very painful as if I constantly have a very full bladder even right after I empty my bladder. I tested "trace positive" for a urinary tract infection after having taken amoxicilin 500 for 2 days. I do not and have not had any burning sensation when I urinate. Is there other things that create a positive urinary test beside bladder infections.?
