s differant kinds so you might want to look on line and see what symptoms best fits your problem.dermatitis causes severe itch,dandruff,and under the dandruff there's a rash.I'm no doctor but i think this info well help.i found it helpful to use shampoos that treat dermatitis.sence there's no cures.hope this info helps.keep us posted if your doctor tells you differant,or other ways to treat severe dandruff.thanks.

From the symptoms this problem of dry itchy scalp can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
I have never had dandruff before. The flakes are pretty big and there is this one spot where if i go to scratch my scalp it always bleeds. I have tried changing shampoos and washing my hair with cold water instead of hot but nothing has made it go away. I notice a reduction in flakes the day i shower but after that it gets worse. Im not sure if i should see a doctor or not. What could it be?
I started off with an itchy scalp about 4-5 weeks ago - i then noticed i had some dandruff - i wasn't too concerned intil i found myself itching quite a lot - ive had dandruff before and it generally goes soon enough and doesn't cause too much itching. Anyway i started to become paranoid thinking i had lice - as my cousins were visiting i thought perhaps i had got lice from one of them. However nobody was itching but me.
The spots are not scaly. Whenever he applies a dandruff shampoo to it, it eases and goes away. He has been told that it is the dandruff that has run down to his face.Others say that it is his high alcohol consumption which is in correlation to some liver disorder. The spots tend to look like ring worm but not exactly. When the weather becomes cool, it also surfaces. What do you think this condition sounds like?

Bird mites have to be treated with a bug bomb and the bird or rodent nest removed. Pet mites(or walking dandruff) look like tiny white dandruff that moves. This is treated with a strong flea/mite shampoo weekly for 4 weeks plus the carpet/upholstery must be treated with a flea carpet spray weekly for 4 weeks.
m going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.

Dandruff can be due to internal or external causes. Internal causes include hormonal imbalance, poor health, poor hygiene, allergic hypersensitivity, lack of rest, emotional stress, excessive consumption of sugar, fat or starch and heredity predisposition.
External causes include excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair.
but ive used atleast 5 different creams and before it used to go away for the most part but could still see where the skin was not normal. but now the stuff i use just doesnt help as much. it causes lots of dandruff and its like a thick layer of dead skin and when i pick at it. it bleeds. not a lot but enough to concern me. ive stoped picking at it cause obviously thats not good. but i want to know wat else this could be because nothing ive used for psoriasis has helped anymore.
