Cymbalta vs xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta vs xanax

cymbalta

Avatar f tn He said its better than Xanax. I am afraid to try it if it means giving up xanax. I may be addicted. And fearful that if Klonopin does not help as much ,can I also take xanax? I feel axniety and have trouble sleeping and wake up several times feeling axious during the night. My cardio likes Coreg because it is an alpha /beta blocker and actually helps quell anxiety. Maybe I need stop the clonidine in the evening ,as I am reading some of the posts that say beta blockers can increase axniety.
Avatar n tn Hi Ryan, Why did you write to Ellen that Klonopin could worsen her depression? I have been on Klonopin for about a month and a half and I have noticed an increase in depression (I am NOT on any anti depressants). Overall I just roll with it and try and stay positive and I started to get acupuncture along with talk therapy. This week I will see my p-doc and I'm sure all of this will come up in my visit. Do you think Klonopin causes weight gain as well?
Avatar f tn And maybe it was from withdrawl vs the Zoloft- who knows now bc I stopped the Zoloft and went back on Cymbalta. I regret even switching (I've never been on anything but Prozac & Cymbalta- thought nothing of switching thinking the Cymbalta could simply use a "tweak)" It took like 4 weeks to have symptoms after the switch from Cymbalta to Zoloft so it caught me off guard. I can't renever if I mentioned it but something similar happened before I went on Cymbalta in April 2008.
Avatar n tn I was switched to Cymbalta, but had the same outcome. I found myself EXTREMELY irritable, lashing out for the smallest thing. Today I went to my doctor because I've been having extreme anxiety and anger the past week. The nurse practitioner refused to give any benzos for immediate relief from my withdrawals from Cymbalta and instead told me BuSpar would give me immediate relief. From what I've read this isn't the case.
12714324 tn?1426851987 He didn't want me on 40mg of lexapro for the concern of my liver but he prescribes effexor and xanax. Don't he know that I could get liver damage with over the counter med. I have been on effexor for two days now I can't sleep. I'm up at 330am est trying to figure out what is going on. I want to get back on my lexapro because for six years on 40mg I was happy go lucky.
Avatar n tn I take valleum, buspar and cymbalta for anxiety. My opiate dose is down by a 2/3s. for 2 weeks now. The last 4 days my anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do? I know you had said your on anti-anxiety meds. do you mind sharing with me what they are and how well do they help.
Avatar m tn -) I already take a HIGH dose of Klonopin daily (8 mg), who is not effective anymore and we add 1 mg of Xanax, who work for3 weeks and stop working... so I don't see how my PDoc would be able to add more benzo meds to calm the initial anxiety when I will start the SSRI... For the SSRI, i'm used to all of them... They was like candy for me in the past, no side-effects like increase anxiety but MAJOR weight gain...
Avatar n tn I am also on Lamictal so I think that is helping but I also take xanax for anxiety but my pharmacist said that I shouldn't take xanax with the wellbutrin?????? Oh, I have called my dr and to speak to her as I cryed my way through the message....and I haven't heard back from her yet.
341953 tn?1209485491 The problem with the SSRI's is that you will probably have to try a few until you find one that works for you. I tried Lexapro, Paxil, and Cymbalta before I found the Prozac. The other thing about the SSRI's is that they take about a month to start working. I just go back on my Prozac and it is really helping me to stay on track and not go back to abusing pain killers. Most people that abuse opiates have a problem with anxiety, depression, or some other psychological disorder.
Avatar f tn but how you get there is different with each med, hence why there are so many varying experiences. Cymbalta tends to be a bit activating, so that may not be the best choice, ask your doctor about it. There's no way to predict how you will do on something else, but let's hope well. I STRONGLY urge you to have a back up plan in place to help deal with any side effects, should they occur. A short acting benzo would be appropriate.
Avatar f tn out there even though I think it is more for the shorter acting ones like ativan and especially xanax, I really think there is more of a stigma about benzos than there is for any of the other drugs. I had horrible experiences with paxil, celexa, atenolol and endured them just because I thought that in the long run, I was told, that they would make me feel better; well they didn't.
605458 tn?1539232408 What I do not understand is if overdosing was my doctors concern, why would he have me on xanax (extensive history of xanax and heroin overdoses) while I was a full blown heroin addict, and then when I've been clean off heroin for a year and a half and doing fairly well drug wise, he takes me off the drugs that have worked better than any other because he wants to start taking precautions now... A bit late don't you think, and now it's is not even a concern..

Avatar f tn Lexapro, Zoloft, Celexa and Prozac are typically the easier tolerated ADs (again, everyone is different). I personally would recommend sticking with the SSRIs vs the SNRIs for anxiety, because due to the fact that their primary mechanism of action affects norepinephrine (aka adrenaline), they are quite activating, and can cause more anxiety.
746058 tn?1248348265 I met with my Psych today and exaplined all that was going on . My situation is very similar to yours. My main issue right now aside form feeling POTsy is extreme Panic and anxiety. I have Panic Disorder that needs to be treated. My Psych, who I thouroughly respect and trust, suggested that I take Xanax (.25mg) 3 times per day. For me, that is a lot. I currently only take it as needed when my panic gets out of control and I really need to recover.
Avatar f tn The problem is medication - I'm hugely sensitive to drugs and virtually every SSRI or SSNRI I've tried - Cymbalta, LexaPro, and now Zoloft - really exacerbates the anxiety. The psychiatrist affiliated with the program has been wonderful and understanding, and prescribed .5 mg of Xanax four times a day to address the anxiety. I'm still anxious and fearful, but also incredibly fatigued, sleeping a great deal, and - here's the worst part - have had severe diarrhea for 3 weeks.
2064754 tn?1333379263 There are different types and classes of medication that people are prescribed for anxiety and depression. There are faster actiing meds like Xanax and Ativan that are used on an as needed basis and are usually prescribed more short term and then there are medications like Zoloft and Prozac (SSRIs) that are prescribed more long term and taken on a regular basis. While these are only two types, there are also multiple other classes of medications that are used in the treatment of both.
Avatar n tn When I did start xanax it really worked wonders for my anxiety, stress and panic attacks, but it comes with the price of addiction and if not properly tapered you risk having siezures which can potentially have devastating effects. I eventually after 2 1/2 yrs of use, started on Xanax XR 2mgs daily vs. the 4mgs of regular xanax that I was taking, it made a huge difference in eliminating all the bad side effects that I started having.
Avatar n tn I'm very worried because of my bi-polar, depression and anxiety meds that I've been taking. I take abilifi, cymbalta, subutex, adderal and xanax. I'm also 36 years old. I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety since i was 7 years old and i don't function without my meds. What can I continue taking (if any) and how harmful have my meds that I've been on are for my unborn baby.
Avatar f tn I've been on Cymbalta for about 2 years and have always had anxiety issues. The doc recently bumped my Cymbalta from 60mg/1x to 60mg/2x and gave me Buspar 15mg/3x (yeah, i'm a pretty bad "freak out" case....). I can't (won't) do benzo's anymore (waking up @ 2-3am every night and having to eat a Xanax before going back to sleep is for the birds!) but I don't know how the Buspar works. I don't think it's a "chill pill" like benzo's, but what is it?
1119036 tn?1259538415 anyway i have appt with new doctor. Originally I was on xanax and he took me off said was too addicting and i was taking 2 to 4 mg as needed..well he started me on .5 klonopin twice daily and that was no match for what i was taking my anxiety was terrible so finally at the end my dose was 2 to 4 mg klonopin which i felt my body was immune to. It would take the anxiety away but now completely..
Avatar m tn So I know how addicting they can be and my doctor would be fully aware of my potential for abuse, but if I got some pain control out of it then it would be worth it. I already take 2-3mgs of xanax and am planning on starting a taprer here soon, but Ive been getting conflicting reports about klonopin and valium being easier to withdrawl off than xanax or ativan because of the different half lives.
718468 tn?1232418047 Seems to me he wouldve rather gave you the Klonopin and Valium in the first place, because those are hardly abused compared to Xanax. Just be strait up with him, and tell him that you dont wanna be in the Xanax hell no more, your not asking for more "drugs" but a better med that is proven to be allot safer and better for Long term. Do you think maybe you could be going through Withdraws on the Xanax?
Avatar f tn Hepatic failure, sometimes fatal, has been reported in patients treated with Cymbalta. Cymbalta should be discontinued in patients who develop jaundice or other evidence of clinically significant liver dysfunction and should not be resumed unless another cause can be established. Cymbalta should not be prescribed to patients with substantial alcohol use or evidence of chronic liver disease.' Also Cymbalta should never be stopped suddenly.
Avatar f tn In other hands, you can ask to try the Xanax at LOW dose, it's more effective to prevent the panic or stop them but the effect don't last a long time and you need to take a lot of them daily to keep the panic at bay... One solution will be to ask for the Klonopin, who sometimes work well for panic...
Avatar m tn you can drink your vitamins. (Much easier for your body to absorb liquids/powder vs hard, chalky vitamins.) I can't say enough good things about it.
737515 tn?1252556023 All within 3 weeks of use. The xanax works like a charm but i have only taken 3 in over a week. I wish they could just give me xanax xr and that be it. :/ thank you for always reading and trying to assist me. btw i start therapy yet again whenever there is an opening at the counseling center on campus.
