Avatar f tn Hey ladies I'm a ftm due October 6, wondering if anyone's from va? I'm from the Hampton roads area.
Avatar m tn Hi All- Not so much a question, but wanted to share information for anyone in the greater DC area and Virginia looking for confirmatory testing via the Western Blot. I just sent my Western Blot out today for confirmation. I may have started developing symptoms recently after testing 1.15 positive IgG for HSV2, but regardless I hope this post will help someone avoid some of the troubles I had for getting a Western Blot done.
Avatar f tn My friend's company replaces his CPAP supplies whenever he asks. They give you instructions on how to keep it clean. Obviously nobody wants to do it, but there are consequences. Otherwise they would let you do it the easy way. Now you have unexplained lung nodules, so you will have to get a biopsy to find out what is going on. Nobody here can help you.
Avatar n tn I have just changed from the minmed 508 pump to the minmed paradigm (512)and have supplies remaining for the 508 pump. These are factory sealed, unused but not compatible with the new pump. If anyone has a need for these supplies please respond.
Avatar f tn ) Well on top of that, I contacted my insurance about the surgery for soft palate etc because my RDI index without a cpap is 40 and with a cpap is 23. The mouth appliance did not work and the cpap only helps slightly. My insurance considers UARS and anything to do with it experimental and doesn't even classify it as having anything to do with sleep apnea. They won't even count RERA's, only Apneas and Hypopneas.
961503 tn?1247059639 Go back to whoever you get your cpap supplies from and ask about a full face mask. The chin strap did not work for me....... I had to get the mask that covers both nose and mouth. Hope that helps!

Avatar f tn I had two procedures .. no good! I had the good fortune to meet Dr. B. in Fredericksburg, Va. I believe he performed the balloon procedure. The pain stopped immediately!!! It has been 5 years NO PAIN, NO MEDS. I almost forgot that anybody still suffers from TN. Sorry to hear not so.
Avatar f tn Pressure support ventilation, where air under gentle pressure is passed into the airways keeping it patent. A CPAP delivers continuous pressure for both inhaling and exhaling. As this supplies continuous amount of air pressure the person has to exhale against this extra pressure. This makes it imperfect or unsuitable for certain people, such as those who are suffering from neuromuscular diseases.
Avatar f tn My parents live in Fredericksburg, I used to live in Fredericksburg and currently live in King George. I'm glad to see here that you have an appointment with your son's pediatrician in the morning. As I mentioned in my response to your other post, seeing a gastro doc may be in order (not sure, but thinking possibly) - I do know of a good gastro doc in Fredericksburg if you would like his name, however, I don't know if he takes pediatric patients.
Avatar n tn I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 3 months. From the night I used it I did not wake to go to the bathroom during the night. Although this was nice, I developed a problem immediately (from the first night) with swelling in my legs (calves, ankles, feet) and in my hands. I did NOT mention it to the sleep doctor because It was a month until my follow-up appointment and I never saw it listed as a side effect of CPAP therapy in materials I read.
Avatar f tn Hello from a fellow Fredericksburg area resident! I would definitely follow up on this as free fluid in the abdomen is not a "normal" finding. When you say "fairly normal" for the bloodwork, what was it that wasn't exactly 100% normal? I would definitely suggest getting him in to see his pediatrician tomorrow with a possible referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist.
Avatar f tn Right now my left foot is numb because the artery that supplies blood to that leg is blocked again. Take care and get checked out soon. This is nothing to take lightly.
Avatar n tn i just went for my second sleep study to be hooked up to the cpap. the first one said i quit breathing and was breathing very shallow. once i get my new machine how long will it take to be back to 100%. i could tell the morning after that i did feel a little better and did not have a headaache.

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
