Avatar m tn Hi, I went to a walk in clinic on Friday, I had a cold for about 5 days that seemed to be getting worse, sinus pressure, post nasal drip, cough and phlegm that produced green phlegm so he said it was sinusitis, gave me nasonex and Azithromycin. 6 pills, two at first dose and one a day, started on Saturday, it's now Tuesday, cough is minimal, still coughing up phlegm about once an hour, blowing nose is clear, chest congestion is mildly green.
Avatar m tn no fever but i was tired and the coughing was worse in the evening and in the morning i would get bad attacks and it was very hard to cough up the phlegm. The phlegm at the time was a thick grey/green mucous. I took some chinese herbs that helped me in the past and the cough finally went away after about 5 weeks. however i still have a residual cough at night and in the morning. not producing much phlegm now but when i do its lighter and easier to hack up.
Avatar m tn Hi, health studies show that smoking filtered cigarettes do not block the bad chemicals from affecting the lungs. The green phlegm could be due to bronchitis. Treatment for bronchitis is usually symptomatic. Antibiotics for infections and bronchodilators for bronchospasm. And of course avoidance of smoking to prevent further damage to the lungs. Talk to your GP regarding this in the meantime you could try warm salt water gargles, steam inhalations and breathing exercises. Regards.
Avatar m tn This time the soreness persisted the whole entire day. I went to bed last night with a lot of phlegm in my throat and woke up this morning with a lot of soreness and phlegm once again. I tried to hack up the phlegm. Most of it was clear or yellow. Then I managed to get a real good one... I hacked up a real thick sample that was directly from my throat, and spit it out onto a tissue. I noticed a streak of blood on the tissue mixed with yellow phlegm.
Avatar f tn Silent reflux is well known for also causing issues with excess mucus production and not just in the esophagus but also in the lungs and sinuses. Here's information on silent reflux: https://www.webmd.com/heartburn-gerd/guide/laryngopharyngeal-reflux-silent-reflux#1. The phlegm is pretty typical and that it is green means you should watch out for infections of the lungs or sinuses. You may need a round of antibiotics?
Avatar m tn Ok i am a 29 year old male i used to smoke marijuana in cigar paper everyday but stopped several days ago before I became sick for several days coughing, body aches the chills head and sinus pains wheezing and no appetite while most of those symptoms stopped after several days the coughing and wheezing has stayed what concerns me is that I am wheezing still and sometimes coughing up a clearer phlegm (the phlegm 3days prior was dark green to yellow but is now more clear yellowish) with slight tra
Avatar n tn I have been splitting up lite green phlegm for the last two months. I was told by a non medical friend to not use any over the counter drugs because this might supress the secretions that need to come out naturally? Could he have a valid point of view and what do you recommend? This discussion is related to Uncontrollable Phlegm.

Avatar f tn it was darker. Well, a week later, today i still am coughing up blood in the morning. It actually has had some bright, fresh, blood in it but it isn't in that big of quantities. It's the sixteenth and i've been wheezy since the eighth. I no longer have a family doctor and lost my job over three months ago now.. Should i go to emergency?? Doctor dropped me cause i took longer than a year to get a check up and NO ONE is taking new uninsured patients.
Avatar m tn The first day it was a sore throat and coughing and hacking up green phlegm in small amounts, sometimes it had blood in it when it came from the top of my throat. I had a slight fever of 99.7. It may have been a little higher, but never over 100. My nick was also very stiff the first day. One the second day, my throat was still sore and coughing up green phlegm, but the stiffness and temperature were gone.
Avatar f tn ve coughing out phlegm non stop for the past two month. Its not bloody, but thick and green sometimes white and foam like. My chest also feels tight everytime i cough. I use the sprays and all but this problem is permanently there.
Avatar n tn I would say the next time you start coughing up the green phlegm, then take a sample to your doctor and have it checked for the organasism, or bacteria, which maybe causing this. That way they can see what is causing this if it bacteria it can be cleared up with the right antibiotic, to tackle the bacteria.
Avatar f tn Coughing up phlegm is not unusual and it can be greenish in color. Our mucus thickens when it sits. It will sit in our chest and come out lovely shades of color. But you are only 16. You have parents--- talk to them. They are who provides your medical care and can decide if you need to see a doctor. Mostly you just sound like you have a cold/cough with phlegm. Not something to sorry about.
Avatar f tn I need to know if this is normal, maybe just my body's way of clearing everything out. I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant four months ago. I'll still occasionally have a puff or two but that's few and far in between. Since about the second or third week post quitting I started coughing up this weird white/gray phlegm that has a terrible, bitter acrid taste that coats my mouth and back of my throat almost like an oil. Similar to bronchitis sputum but not green or yellow.
Avatar m tn just have had a cough prior to the pain, and now the cough is mainly in the morning when i wake coughing up sputnum white/green occasionally with blood spots. Pain comes and goes usually goes away when laying down. any cause for concern. Pneumonia keeps coming up in my research but i think im overthing reacting and could be pulled muscle of some sort.
Avatar f tn Every morning my daily routine is wake up, and my my eyes water my noses start to run,and If I don't catch it right a way I'll be coughing and spitting up phlegm for hours, once that passes and the thick phlegm is blown out, couched, and threw up is all out,im fine unless I eat something anything a over stuff myself,it will start again.
Avatar n tn I am a non-smoker, I have been coughing for the las month or so, this morning in the shower I started to spit black phlegm. Now I know this is not "normal". My father died from lung cancer at age 61, he was a smoker. I am using "Flovent" in the morning and "Ventolin" as needed. Any idea if that would stop by itself or should I see a doctor for stronger stuff? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been getting over a recent bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed Augmentin (I am on Day 6) and Prednisone short burst (finished 2 days ago) I am still coughing quite bad but the fever has broke... but as of yesterday the phlegm/mucus I am coughing up tastes extremely salty. I have not been using any type of saline spray, or gargling with salt water, so I know this is not the reason. Is it the antibiotics causing this? Or is there another reason?
667049 tn?1225375152 Same as you, it started dry and then progressed to bringing up phlegm. The phlegm is yellowish-green. I went to see my doctor about 2 weeks ago. He gave me an anti-biotic for a sinus infection (which is what almost everyone I know is being diagnosed with). Needless to say, I have finished my 10 day track of anti-biotics and I am still coughing! Guess that wasn't the right diagnosis. Anyways, just watch out for Pneumonia.
