Cost of cpap titration test

Common Questions and Answers about Cost of cpap titration test

cpap

Avatar m tn with sleep apnea. Did you do a follow-up sleep test (polysomnography with titration)? Or, did they actually put a CPAP mask on you during your test(s) at the laboratory? If not, you may need to see your sleep physician again and have a PSGT (Polysomnography with titration). If your problem is not "simple" obstructive sleep apnea, CPAP/BiPAP/AutoPAP, etc. may not meet your needs.
1622896 tn?1562364967 If you have obstructive sleep apnea and it is effectively treated (like with CPAP), a sleeping medication shouldn't matter. I'm guessing you were on the med at the time of your titration study, so that influence would have been factored in to the pressure you were prescribed. When you hear warnings about taking sleep meds with obstructive sleep apnea, that's mainly if your apnea is untreated. If you have central sleep apnea, then that's a different story.
Avatar f tn t mention the time frame of your problems. It can take a while to settle in to using a CPAP with a mask and for the brain to accept it enough to sleep well with it. Sometimes the brain has to relearn how to sleep, and diligence to principles of sleep hygiene, or good sleep habits, can help. However, it is best to determine if there is a residual cause of the frequent wakeups. One common cause is limb movements. Is there any mention of these on your reports?
Avatar f tn Apparently, there are no nodules on my vocal chords but I do have redness which is indicitive of reflux. They also did a test to see if there is air flow constriction in my nasal passage. There is some constriction. I had a sleep study done about 16 months ago which indicated that I had borderline sleep apnea. I have since lost 10 lbs which places me within 10 lbs of my ideal weight. The pulmonologist wants to repeat the sleep study. They have a small two patient sleep lab on premisis.
Avatar m tn Been on the CPAP for the last year. three months ago I had a septoplasty...All went well. Two weeks ago I had UPPP surgery and ever since the first night as soon as I fall asleep I start choking. Seems like even when I'm awake i can take a deep breath through my nose and feel my tonge/throat closing off. I"ve video taped myself sleeping the last few nights and it's happening about every 5 to 10 minutes. I'm choking on the inhale...
1572585 tn?1309245054 Hi everyone. I was dizgnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago... I used my CPAP machine for a while in the beginning and thaqt seemed to have helped. Latelly, Due to several factors such as stress, withdrawing from seroquel, withdrawing from xanax, and such, I have had to ask for sleep meds prescription. I take restoril which helps, however I stay in bed for 12 hours at a time... I decided to try cutting the capsule in half, to see if that would help with the amount of time I spend in bed...
Avatar n tn I was told that you correct it with a CPAP or variant of. I understand this, but what is causing this to happen. I had two sleep obstructions, four nuero, two mixed, and 29 hypopneas. I never went into Deep sleep NR3 or NR4. It recorded I had zero leg movements, but I kept popping off the leads on my legs from moving them. Venting aside, what is the path I must follow to get the underlying cause answered? Since childhood I have many symptoms of Narcolepsy and other sleep Disorders.
Avatar n tn t trust your Sleep Docotors. Get a copy of your sleep test results and make sure that you are spening about 30% of the night in REM sleep and a large amount in Deep sleep. During REM sleep vital bio-chemical reations occur and it is the rest for your brain. Deep Sleep is the portion of sleep where your body rests.
Avatar n tn Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. It helps to look at the problem through another person's eyes. After thinking more objectively about it, I believe (as you suggested) that although the swellling occurs with CPAP use, it is not DIRECTLY attributable to the CPAP. I think the CPAP just acts as the catalyst or the trigger to the swelling.
Avatar m tn I stopped breathing 15 times an hour and my Blood O2 got to 82%.. I dont know, are those results bad or mid range?? I had a CPAP titration last night and slept great. It took a while to get used to the mask but i felt really good today. I hope over time i will be back to 100%. The only thing is that the machine pumped my stomach full of air.. Makes an unpleasant morning!! I will be set up on a machine by the end of the week..
233622 tn?1279334905 Welcome to the club. CPAP made a tremendous difference for me in terms of the quality of my sleep. I think it's been two years or so. I do have OSA. I've never really understood the difference between hypopnea and obstructive sleep apnea. I think I understand central sleep apnea, and to be honest, I'm surprised more MS patients don't mention that. I'm sure our friend Dr. Park could add some clarification here, if he reads this forum regularly.
1307298 tn?1305946851 I'm interested in reading any responses on Provent use. I've read discussions about it on another forum, but not from anyone who had used it. I would want with any treatment to have a sleep study while using it to confirm it is indeed effective. Is there anything in particular about your CPAP giving you a problem, or just in general? I've been using CPAP about 5 years. Can't say I'd never consider another form of treatment, just would have to know for sure it was working.
1054090 tn?1343965695 He prescribed an over night at home recording Oximeter test - this was a very low cost test (a sleep study is not low cost). The results showed I had several episodes of low oxygen saturation during the night. This was firm enough evidence to invest in a full sleep study at my local hospital.. done over one night at the hospital. That resulted in the diagnosis of "mild" OSA, which as I said, I have beaten by losing some weight... and only 10% that is I was not much overweight.
Avatar f tn Hi, Complex sleep apnea is actually a combination of both obstructive and central sleep apnea seen in some patients. Patients with complex sleep apnea at first appear to have obstructive sleep apnea and stop breathing 20 to 30 times per hour each night. But unlike typical obstructive sleep apnea patients, their breathing problem is not completely alleviated by a CPAP (continuous airway pressure) machine.
Avatar n tn Some providers will loan them overnight at little or no cost if they are providing the cpap. Someetimes there are other health issues with the lungs that affect the oxygen levels and require adding oxygen to the cpap if determined there is a need. Sleep apnea certainly can cause daytime fatigue. In many cases, therapeutic cpap treatment restores one to health and vitality. In some, damage can have occured. If any doubt, a cardiac workup wouldn't hurt.
Avatar f tn I regret ever having the sleep study and I regret what all the money and time it cost me, and the suffering of 3 years of lung infections...I am so done using the cpap treatment!
Avatar n tn Had sleep study, left study with a sleep apnea machine, discovered it would cost me $140 a month, have high insurance deductible so shopped online and found same machine brand new fraction of the price, called my sleep doc for a copy of my prescription....was told "its against policy to give you a copy, we don't approve of obtaining your equipment elsewhere" DO I NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO THE RX AND TO CHOOSE WHERE TO PURCHASE IT?
1767141 tn?1313678474 Since you mention CPAP and APAP I assume you have had an in-lab sleep evaluation PSG and an in-lab CPAP titration PSG. Do you have a copy of the doctor's dictated results (1-2 pages each)from both in-lab studies AND the full scored data summary report w/condensed graphs (5+ pages each) from both in-lab studies? Most people experience most of their sleep apnea episodes when sleeping supine (on their back) and in REM sleep.
Avatar m tn once i get it taken car of,..i fall asleep within 15 min or less..if ur apnea then you know that the 1st 90 min is ( rem) sleep..then within 2-3 hrs you get to level 3 stage..then stage 4.. well i never seem to get to stage 4..i never did on my sleep study..about 30 min there..ur suppose to get at least 4 hrs in the deep stage 4 sleep is the deepest sleep..thats were you really get rested..then you start to move back to 3.2. rem sleep before you awake...
Avatar m tn Do not waste your money on quackery/dubious tests: "The following procedures are not valid for managing food allergies: Neurological Stress Reduction Therapy (NRST) purports to use a BAX 3000 device to assess and treat allergies and many other conditions with a 'light and sound energy relaxation technique' that supposedly identifies problematic substances and conditions the body not to react negatively to them." 461838 tn?1255790216 I discussed with my primary care doctor and ended taking an overnight sleep study at the local hospital (not low cost) and was diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea... this suggested use of a CPAP breathing mask, but I declined saying I wanted to lose a little weight, was not much overweight but the sleep specialist agreed that even a little weight loss may open my throat a bit at night. I lost about 10% of my body weight and no long have the symptoms, I have not been retested.
