Avatar f tn t masturbate, but I have had, sex during concussion recovery and my symptoms always increase afterward, even if the sex is not strenuous. It is the movement of the head that cause such, so due to my head injury history and experience, any movements that affect movement of the head can have a negative affect on concussion symptoms and recovery.
Avatar m tn I sustained a minor concussion three weeks ago, and though my logical and linguistic faculties seemed to return to normal within a couple days, I have had persistent feelings of pressure and weakness in my head, though these have markedly diminished within the past week. At present, I have recovered enough that I am able to use the computer (with the monitor at low brightness) for simple tasks like reading and writing emails.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor tested to see if a rise in blood pressure aggravates or causes the return of your concussion symptoms. Your recovery time generally depends upon this assessment. A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. Avatar m tn Were you diagnosed with a concussion? When you went back to the ER did they do a concussion test?
Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.

If cold compress or over-the-counter pain medications do not help, have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn It seems extremely unlikely that a whiplash injury could cause sleep apnea. If you do turn out to have sleep apnea, it is more likely that you had it prior to the car accident and just weren't aware of it. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I have severe swelling, got an internal stitch and three external -- but the doctor (who I was later informed was extremely rude) said I didnt have a concussion because I was awake, even though I have absolutely no recollection of any of the events. Avatar f tn G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
492869 tn?1285018933 Thank you all so much for your comments! I've had a couple of head injuries in the past, but this one seems to be healing particularly slowly. I haven't even slept in my own bed these past weeks because I've required my parents twenty-four hour care. My mother had to take leave from work. I am improving. My doctor seems hopeful that my constant migraines will disappear within the next two months, maybe sooner. My sleep schedule is way off.

3161076 tn?1343698755 Does a head concussion cause a person to sleep a lot? I got into an accident and hit my head 2 months ago, last week i fell down the stairs and hit my head on the wall, now I'm sleeping a lot, what does that mean?
Avatar n tn They now say that the person can sleep after a concussion. The reasons for not letting them sleep before was incase the person slips into a coma - when they are awake at least they can monitor the person. Try making a deal with him - if he gets checked out by a doctor - you will let him sleep.

Some of them are huger, stress, sleep deprivation and constant eye strain, such as that occurs after prolonged computer work. Tension type headaches may be chronic or episodic. They can be present almost 15 days per month. Chronic tension type headaches can last for as long as six months. If you suspect headaches as post concussion syndrome, you will most probably have some more symptoms of the post concussion syndrome.

Avatar m tn There are no randomized studies on sleep disturbance in brain injury patients. The sleep disturbance may last a few days to a few weeks/months. If it does persist, I would advise getting a sleep study evaluation to ensure he has not developed sleep apnea. It is also important to recognize that post-concussive symptoms may also include headache, dizziness, memory challenges, difficulties with concentration, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and increased or decrease in sleep.
Avatar m tn A sever head blow is likely to cause headaches. If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pressure will go in a few days. However, it is important to get a medical evaluation. So please consult your doctor once. Take care!
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.

I had a pretty severe concussion, but after a couple weeks bedrest I was up and running fine. About a month after the accident, I woke up feeling off. I had extreme vertigo and tightness in my head. I figured I'd sleep it off but it has not gone away. My symptoms are consantly changing but none the less, scaring me.
