concussion

1980327 tn?1326248976 I had a head injury Dec 23 and now I get dizzy every time I turn at night while laying down, is this a normal sign of concussion.
Avatar n tn Yes it does sound like a concussion. I would see your doctor right away or go to the ER to make sure there is no serious damage. They will probably do a CT scan or MRI.
Avatar f tn It is highly likely that the reason you are feeling dizzy is related to hitting your head and is likely to be concussion. This can persist for some time and can take a few weeks to settle. Take things slow and easy and rest. You are doing the right thing in seeing your doctor to discuss your concerns.
Avatar m tn If your symptoms have recently worsened a lot, sometimes this can happen if a person who has a concussion already, then they somehow bang their head again and then symptoms can worsen. I hope your symptoms are not related to hitting your head, rather perhaps you've got something else less serious wrong, but it just seems to me if you've had headaches ever since your fall, and plus you feel sleepy a lot, a doc has got to check you out!
Avatar n tn Hello, I feel that your grandson needs to be evaluated for a head injury as soon as possible.Mostly hematomas formed after a head injury soon in case of children, but as your grandson is having signs of concussion or a raised intracranial pressure(most probably due to a subdural hematoma)it needs to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon immediately. An x-ray or CT head is advisable. Pls don’t listen to your daughter as your grandson needs immediate evaluation. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn If the head injury is serious there can be a tinkling sensation due to a head and neck injury...symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent. Symptoms and that includes a headache can last for days, weeks or even longer. You may want to see a doctor depending on the severity of a blow to the head that can cause a blood clot.
Avatar n tn When my husband was discharged from the ER they gave him a paper explaining about head concussion. So we assumed he had a head concussion. He did o.k. for two days and then started being confused and disoriented again. For the most part he seems fine, but today he had another episode of confussion/disorientation and dizziness. Are this symptoms normal? Thanks for any response.
Avatar f tn It is possible that you did suffer a slight concussion, but I do not think you need to run out and go to a doctor. I would just take some basic over the counter pain meds for a couple of days and you should be fine. Now if you are feeling dizzy or notice that your pupils are 2 different sizes GO to a doctor. Also if you are just plain scared then by all means go see one.
Avatar m tn About two months ago I suffered an injury to my left eye and the fore head area of my head. Two weeks later the ER Doctor told me I have post concussion syndrome, the CT scan was normal, however I still feel dizzy, lazy, depressed, my ears ring non stop and after I eat I feel like passing out. My primary care doctor said to give it about 90 days to a year. Can you tell me how much more should I wait before I see a neurologist.
Avatar f tn I have made the mistake of NOT going to a doctor, NOT going to the emergency room (after a car accident/whiplash) and self diagnosing. Head injuries/concussion are brain Injuries. If you end up on disability, in an insurance claim, or in a lawsuit, you will need medical documentation. This could affect your ability to do or keep your job depending if memory and concentration are important for the safety of yourself/others.
Avatar m tn Though I fell down quite hard on my head , my head didnot hurt at all. Instead I hurt my leg and neck a bit. Is it possible that I may internally bleeding in my head. One of my relatives had an internally bleeding in her head not too long ago after she fell down , hence I am feeling scared. Almost 2 hours has passed since I fell down and still I donot feel any such discomfiture other than a blunt headache which lasts for 2/3 minutes. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn I hit my head 2 days ago and now I have been getting headaches, dizziness and nausea. The headache is mostly where I hit my head. While I was driving I experienced a tingling sensation through both of my arms and hands and felt weak.
Avatar f tn How many brain cells are lost from a hard hit to the head, for example, being hit on the head with a plastic lantern and not experiencing any severe symptoms? What is the maximum amount of brain cells that can be lost without affecting the memory or mathemtaics prowess?
Avatar n tn I hope he is okay after this time you will know.... in my opinion any child who has shortness of breath after a head injury should be looked at ..
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your question. After head injury or impact such kind of symptoms like headache & vomiting may be common, but may remain symptomatic or progress in future. I would recommend that he should consult immediately with a doctor for assessment. Please arrange an appointment with a neurologist who will evaluate the further prognosis here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn In fact most patients who meet a vehicular accident or have an unexpected severer head injury do not remember losing consciousness. They remember minutes before the injury and getting up on a hospital bed or on a roadside etc, but have no idea how they got there or what happened in between. This is the time where they had lost consciousness. Sometimes the loss of consciousness is very transient. In these cases too a person may have no recollection that he had lost consciousness.
Avatar m tn Usually, such symptoms may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises.

Avatar n tn my son had similar head jerking after concussion 2 years ago. He also had another concussion recently w/ constant head pain. We tried chiro,PT(exercise+stretching), meds and he got worse. missed 1xmonth of school. I found a PT who combines cranial-sacral/soft tissue and other standard PT regimens(she had training for concussion injuries) and he improved w/ each visit.
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar n tn I took a very serious head injury (concusion) playing rugby nearly 2 and a half months ago and have no recolection of the event as i have memory loss of the injury occuring.
Avatar n tn How are you feeling now? Have you seen a doctor about this? It almost sounds like you may have gotten a concussion besides injuring your shoulder. Because of the headaches, difficultly with memory, trouble concentrating, nausea, feeling "fuzzy," sleep changes, visual changes, I suggest you get checked out by a doctor, preferably a neurologist if you can...otherwise your PCP.
Avatar m tn A concussion is a brain injury caused by sudden blow to the head or body including high-speed sports, where brain inside the skull shakes, preventing brain to function normally. Symptoms can range from passing out, confusion, coordination and balance problems; nausea etc. post concussion syndrome develops over time and is worse than before injury. My husband already has a TBI from being in Iraq, and now this. What warning or emergency signs should I watch for. Is this all normal after a head injury? He was in bed for 5 days after the attack sleeping mostly.

Avatar f tn I do not have a headache and the site where I was hit in the head is not bruised or swollen. It is more than 24 hours since my injury. Should I still go to the emergency room? If you are a doctor and say I should go, I will. I don't even meet the medical criteria for a catscan, do I?
