Comparison of xopenex versus albuterol

Common Questions and Answers about Comparison of xopenex versus albuterol

xopenex

Avatar f tn All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm... I am going to ask for a sample of Xopenex to try for odor exposures again.
1315759 tn?1274044788 I have the albuterol for both, flovent,& advair. I take the albuterol & flovent inhalers 4 times a day plus the machine.Advair twice. But I still have flair ups & when I do the best thing I have fond for me & my grandson is taking a very hot pot of water of the stove putting it on the floor under us. Then take a towel or blanket cover our head so we can get the stem from the water. I know that's an old thing but it works so well to brake up stuff in between meds.
212161 tn?1599427282 Xopenex is similar to Albuterol and may cause palpitations and arrhythmias. Flovent and Asmanex are steroid inhalers, both of which are used for asthma.
Avatar n tn Hi, fast heart rate is due to Xopenex. Initially, use of this drug is associated with this side effect but over a period of time, tolerance usually develops. In case if you have a pre exisiting heart disease, please avoid this drug. Consult you treating doctor to lower the dose or frequency, other alternative is sustained release deriphylline tablets.
Avatar n tn Patients who are receiving systemic or nebulized formulations of beta-2 agonists, high dosages of inhaled beta-2 agonists, or systemic corticosteroid therapy may be at a greater risk of developing hypokalemia and hence best avoided. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

1987536 tn?1337916244 He actually switched me from advair to symbicort, and from albuterol to xopenex. 24 weeks now and my little girl is doing just fine. They do need us to give them oxygen, so take your meds if you need to.

Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I am 18 weeks and have asthma, I have had it my whole life, I am one of those who was born with it and didn't grow out of it. I take my albuterol inhaler a couple times a day. My OB/GYN also put me on flovent cause the steriod I was on before I was pregnant hadn't been tested on pregnant women and she wanted to be safe. My OB said that is safe to use both the albuterol and my flovent, especially because it causes more damage when you deprive the baby of oxygen.
212161 tn?1599427282 I have QVAR (beclomethasone) that is a steroid. The quick relief inhalers like albuterol will have an adrenergic effect and cause the heart rate to increase temporarily. My HR increase usually lasts about 15 minutes. I see that Flovent and Advair are both steroidal inhalers.
Avatar n tn I was able to quit using Advair and only use my rescue inhaler from time to time. (When someone decides to wear certain perfumes or colognes). I am taking grape seed extract which contains OPCs which are very good for controlling asthma. Just thought somebody would like to know...

Sent him for second xray, which showed atalectasis and pneumonia altho the report didnt say any pneumonia, just atalectasis. Treated him with 10 days Augmentin and Pedia Pred. Cough cleared up, No sickness either. 6 days after antibiotics , breathing tx's and pedia pred finished, cough returns with fever. Had chest CT and doc says Atalectasis caused by Asthma.
Avatar n tn An accurate assessment of the degree of reduction of the FVC (if any) would require, 1) comparison with an FVC, obtained during the period prior to the onset of your symptoms; that is, before “the last couple of months”,(ideally values obtained before methotrexate therapy) and/or 2) a current determination of lung volumes; for example TLC (total lung capacity) Reduction of the FVC could be on the basis of, 1) restrictive lung disease, for example secondary to autoimmune disease and/or long
Avatar n tn The 2 classes are 1) inhaled steroids and 2) orally administered medicines that block biochemical asthma pathways involved in asthma worsening, an example of which is Singulair® (montelukast sodium). A third group of asthma medicines commonly used are, medicines similar to Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) but long acting for 8 to 12 hours. These medicines might or might not result in hyperactivity and should be the last to be considered, especially for a young child. Good luck.
Avatar n tn My daughter has been complaining of leg and foot cramps. At first I attributed this to simple growing pains. She is four years old and has multiple allergies: grass and peanut butter are amoung her most potent allergens. She is on allergy shots for grass. I give her organic vitamins with B12, B6, B2, and magnesium, as well as enzymes, probiotics, omega swirl with omega 3, 6, 9 all natural supplements that help to support an allergic and asthmatic system.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
Avatar f tn also breaks it down, TOBI for my pseudomonas (if you culture pseudo, this might be a good drug for you, it is a nebulized form of tobramycin, I rotate 28 days on and 28 days off..it does a fairly good job at keeping my pseudo at bay) as well as pulmicort and Xopenex. Lots of nebs....I used to use mucomyst nebs but I found them to be too irritating and caused my airways to spasm even though I used Xopenex with the nebs. About your initial post...
Avatar n tn Do you also have a rescue medication? Some for of albuterol - ProAir, Proventil, Maxair, Ventolin, Xopenex and a few others. This is a necessity for when you have the shortness of breath (sob) feeling. Did the hospital tell you what to do about your potassium level? If you do not get that up, you could start having leg cramps. Advair and Symbicort can cause potassium and calcium levels to drop causing cramps. Take care and feel better.
205269 tn?1395534274 has tried just about every allergy medication possible like nasonex, patanase, singulair, xopenex, pulmicort, and albuterol. All of these had very little effect on him. A few days ago he had a serial dilution titration test and it showed to be positive for a number of things like: alternaria, aspergillus, cephalosporium, helminthosporum, cockroach, mite DF, mite DP, and the one thing that stuck out to me because, I don't really know what it is is candida. We are supposed to see the dr.
Avatar m tn Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort. Xopenex is similar to regular albuterol which is a fast acting inhaler for asthma (something I use). It will increase your heart rate for awhile after you use it. For me, that means about 10-15 minutes. I also get shaky, jittery hands. But it eases off. The Symbicort is used when asthma is not well controlled yet.
757137 tn?1347196453 There are three types of saline solutions, hypotonic, isotonic and hypertonic. The tonicity is in comparison to the body fluids. Fluids which have the same osmolality as our body fluids are termed as isotonic. When the body fluids are in contact with a isotonic solution, there is no movement of fluids across the membranes. If a solution is hypertonic, it draws fluids and hypotonic gives away fluids.
