Xopenex with albuterol

Common Questions and Answers about Xopenex with albuterol

xopenex

Avatar f tn All of them Xopenex is the only one that does not go by albuterol. No generics because of the cfc ban. We do have generic albuterol neb solution. The Xopenex doesn't cause the shakiness that the other versions do and can be more effective. I wonder if that is what part of my problem has been? hmmmmm... I am going to ask for a sample of Xopenex to try for odor exposures again.
1315759 tn?1274044788 the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control. how can i get my doctor to prescribe me a pulse ox for at home? i am on medicad and medicare and i am sure that if he prescribed it to me, that they would let me have one.
212161 tn?1599427282 Xopenex is similar to Albuterol and may cause palpitations and arrhythmias. Flovent and Asmanex are steroid inhalers, both of which are used for asthma.
Avatar n tn t supposed to make your heart race as much..I am on Xopenex after my doc switched me from albuterol due to my heart arrhythmias (albuterol made them much worse) and it has been much better for me as long as I dont take it more than 3 times a day. Also, Atrovent (Ipatropium bromide) can cause a rapid heart rate too. TAlk to your doc about your symptoms, there should be something he or she can do to help minimize your symptoms (even change them...
Avatar f tn Then the albuterol makes it even worse and lands me in ER often for both hypoxia with out the albuterol and with even more increased angina and unable to stop angina with sublingual spray after taking albuterol. Several times Physicians have called ambulance from their office after administering albuterol and setting to off of because severe hypoxia sets off the angina. Also my Xopenex can kick of angina as well but I can normally get that stopped with nitro.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
1987536 tn?1337916244 So, I used my rescue nebulizer yesterday and today with albuterol. I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow. Now, I feel like a terrible mommy but at the same time I know my angel needs my lungs to be strong...I feel like i should?stop taking them all but am already 18 weeks...wouldn't the effects of the advair be there already if any?
Avatar f tn She took prednisone for 5 days and is on her 7th day of cefzil for infection just because this is what the dr thought she needed She has never gotten much relief with the albuterol or the xopenex which makes me wonder if she indeed has asthma or could it be something else I would really like answers if anyone can help or give us guidance or advice on this situation. It is very scary for her. And we are working on easing her anxiety when she feels she can't breathe .

Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
212161 tn?1599427282 Hello... I have asthma and take Flovent 2xday and used to take Combivent as needed. My Dr switched me from Combivent to Atrovent. With Atrovent, I find that it doesn't cause my heart to race as much as it did when using the Combivent.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I am 18 weeks and have asthma, I have had it my whole life, I am one of those who was born with it and didn't grow out of it. I take my albuterol inhaler a couple times a day. My OB/GYN also put me on flovent cause the steriod I was on before I was pregnant hadn't been tested on pregnant women and she wanted to be safe. My OB said that is safe to use both the albuterol and my flovent, especially because it causes more damage when you deprive the baby of oxygen.
Avatar n tn Albuterol isn't the only rescue inhaler. Xopenex is also and it doesn't make you hyper or nervous like albuterol. I have battled copd for 15 years and I quit albuterol in favor of Xopenex inhaler and nebs.
Avatar n tn Do you also have a rescue medication? Some for of albuterol - ProAir, Proventil, Maxair, Ventolin, Xopenex and a few others. This is a necessity for when you have the shortness of breath (sob) feeling. Did the hospital tell you what to do about your potassium level? If you do not get that up, you could start having leg cramps. Advair and Symbicort can cause potassium and calcium levels to drop causing cramps. Take care and feel better.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.
454286 tn?1205883067 Have your child sweat tested...In the meantime be generous with bronchodilatators(Albuterol or Xopenex- if your insurance covers). You need a nebulizer machine(no 4 year old can do "puffer" effectively). If that doesn't control the asthma add Pulmicort(also through nebul.machine)...and put your kid on a diet(decrease sugar and fat...stop buying things they snack in between meals....that is where most of the calories are from).Remember...it is not just what you eat but how you eat.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a 6 year old son with autism and asthma who has currently started on the Xopenex for the asthma control. He has become extremely hyperactive and somewhat aggressive with the Xopenex, and I am wondering if there are any other meds that wouldn't have this side effect.
Avatar n tn I give her organic vitamins with B12, B6, B2, and magnesium, as well as enzymes, probiotics, omega swirl with omega 3, 6, 9 all natural supplements that help to support an allergic and asthmatic system. It has yet to be confirmed that she has asthma, though allergens can trigger a cough, though she doesn't become short of breath or wheeze, she does respond to asthma medications like pulmicort and xopenex (she had paradoxical bronchospasm to albuterol--very scary!
Avatar m tn Hi all. I have experience a lot of difficulty breathing recently with pollens. It is to the point where each day is a struggle and throughout the day I gasp for a satisfying breath, which often doesn't come. I don't have asthma attacks, as I understand them to occur. I don't wheeze. I do cough a lot. I have sinus blockage. I take antihistamines (phenergan). I am thinking of trying salbutamol and wondering whether anyone has any information, experiences or thoughts to share.
205269 tn?1395534274 The dr. has tried just about every allergy medication possible like nasonex, patanase, singulair, xopenex, pulmicort, and albuterol. All of these had very little effect on him. A few days ago he had a serial dilution titration test and it showed to be positive for a number of things like: alternaria, aspergillus, cephalosporium, helminthosporum, cockroach, mite DF, mite DP, and the one thing that stuck out to me because, I don't really know what it is is candida.
Avatar m tn Apparently you have asthma or some breathing problems already since you are taking Xopenex and Symbicort. Xopenex is similar to regular albuterol which is a fast acting inhaler for asthma (something I use). It will increase your heart rate for awhile after you use it. For me, that means about 10-15 minutes. I also get shaky, jittery hands. But it eases off. The Symbicort is used when asthma is not well controlled yet.
Avatar f tn Anticholenergics like atrovent and Spireva have mild broncho dilating affects, but they are not nearly as good as albuterol or the long-acting beta2 agonists (long acting broncho dilaters). The best thing for you to do is to take controller meds on schedule as directed by your doctor limiting your need for the rescue inhaler. Feel better.
Avatar n tn however, when he gets a cold his asthma ALWAYS worstens . His asthma doctor has me do the nebulizer treatments with albuterol every 4 hrs and singulair pills one in the morning and one before bedtime. Once he gets better then it goes back to just the QVAR. This winter so far has been particularly difficult , he has had a cough , heavy chest congestion for almost 2 months .
Avatar n tn I agree with MOMMY975, my doctor told me that at times, GERD and Asthma go hand in hand. Research shows that people with asthma are more prone to GERD, so the former causes the latter. The pressure caused in the chest by coughing, wheezing etc causes stomach acid to rise to the throat. I had heart burn for a long time which seemingly induced coughing - now I eat non spicy food and take an antacid with every meal. The heartburn is gone but coughing returns right after every meal.
