Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar n tn Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent. I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.
212161 tn?1599427282 I use advair twice a day and combivent when my asthma kicks in and i don't notice much racing when i use em
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?
Avatar f tn Long acting forms are not recommend for use by asthmatics unless they are also being used with a corticosteroid as in Advair (Symbicort and Dulera as well). Short acting forms are a form of albuterol. They last about four hours and are considered the rescue inhaler. Advair and Spiriva is a common combination of meds for COPD patients. However, you should also have a rescue inhlaer containing some form of albuterol. Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
Avatar n tn ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar n tn You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution. Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
Avatar n tn I use Duoneb and Mucomyst in a nebulizer. Additionall I use natural antiinflammatories and an anti-histamine. I do not use any inhaled steroids as they caused bronchitis and sticky phlegm. They also caused adrenal fatigue and, after using that poison for eight years, I suffered a broken hip. Steroids cause osteoporosis, cataracts, and wreck your immune system. I am thinking of adding Spiriva inasmuch as Mucomyst has solved the mucus problem.
Avatar n tn I use this new combivent inhaler 4 x a day so how long does one inhaler last and how often does it get refilled.
Avatar f tn Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110. Sorry so detailed, just wanted to convey that we have tried MANY approaches. He is still coughing. Albeit less frequently on some days, but still very bronchial cough. Wet, non productive. No drainage and No fevers EVER.
Avatar m tn These include Albuterol, Flovent, Combivent, Spiriva, lasix, Diamox , Clariten and Nasonex. I follow a strict diet, no fatty , greasy, fried ,alcoholic or dairy. I elevate my head in bed and lay on my left side. I had test done which include upper and lower GI series, endoscope and a fluroscope. I do everything my Doctor tells me but I am still suffering . My Doctor also suggested that I lose weight.
Avatar n tn I am 50 year old female, with asthma (controlled at the present time) and I only take Theophylline and use Combivent Inhailers, if that makes any difference.
Avatar f tn A new treatment has recently emerged for autoimmune urticaria. This is the use of hydroxychloroquine, a drug originally used for malaria. In a clinical trial 83% improved or cleared completely when used for three months or more.
20811006 tn?1518459943 Its a mild case of COPD and was prescribed Combivent as needed, I recently started having a burning in my left side lung, my pulmonologist felt it was acid reflux, I had no other acid reflux symptoms besides the burning throughout the day. I became ill feeling and felt I had the flu and went into the ER where the prescribed Azithromycin and Prednisone I was reluctant to take them as I do not take medicine unless its absolutely necessary, Not even a Tylenol.
Avatar f tn I started on Pro-Air, it was a little help, went to Combivent, it helps quite a bit, but is terribly expensive. I purchased the Omron Portable Ultrasonic Nebulizer and am using the vials of Albuterol and Ipratropium. I can only use 1/2 vial because more than that speeds my heart up too much. Can I save the last 1/2 of the vial for later use? Does anybody know of a more affordable way to get the medicine I need? I am paying out of pocket and this economy gets harder every day it seems like.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with COPD. I use Combivent twice a day. I have a odor in my nose. It smells like bread/yeast.
Avatar f tn if there will no effect of salt inhaler so there will be no side effect too
Avatar n tn My mom uses a nebulizer certain times of the day. Then if she has to go out and needs a little extra something to get her through it, she will use a proventil inhaler. There are different medications for COPD. Find the one that works best for you. My mom liked combivent to add to her treatments, but she can't afford it anymore. If you have heart issues, that will affect you breathing also. To strengthen the heart and help the arteries, look into taking hawthorn 2 or three times a day.
Avatar n tn My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler? Are there other alternative that I and my doc should consider.
Avatar f tn And I got off all inhaled steroids because of the serious problems they caused. Now I use only natural anti-inflammatories and am all the better for it (as well as richer). By the way, my COPD is as bad as yours. I was taking acetylcysteine (Mucomyst) by nebulizer for congestion. This is not always available so I had to make do in some other fashion. I use a slightly hypertonic saline which I make myself and nebulize that.
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
