Combivent nebules side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Combivent nebules side effects

combivent

Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar f tn combivent also known as albuterol has ingredients in it such as steroids that can definately aggrevate the rhythm of your heart and is actually one of the side effects. I was on albuterol a couple of years ago for bronchitis and the second time i used the inhaler my heart started really acting up...my family doc is the one who prescribed it...i called my heart doc and he told me not to use it and call back the family doc to give me an inhaler that was steroid free....
Avatar n tn My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
Avatar n tn Severent (salmeterol) can have very serious side effects, death being the most notable. Flovent is a corticosteroid. Read the FDA warnings of February 2010. Like you I have moderately severe COPD. I use Duoneb (similar to combivent) in a nebulizer and find it very helpful. I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system.
Avatar f tn I was taking that dosage. As time went by I developed very serious adrenal fatigue, sometimes so bad that I couldn't walk. Cortisol levels were very high. I was treated for it with only moderate success. But there was a more serious side effect that I was not aware of. For the last two years my lung health was declining seriously and I honestly did not think I would make it through the coming winter. I assumed that the COPD was progressing at an alarming rate.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
Avatar m tn I take a number of nebulised solutions each day including Tobramycin, Ventolin and NebuSal nebules. I read that even small amounts of liquid in the lungs can cause Secondary drowning that is apart from all the sodium I am ingesting. Does anyone know how much fluid you can safely take into your lungs and conversely what amounts might be dangerous.
Avatar n tn Because of serious side effects I quit the use of inhaled steroids two years ago. (I am at the lower edge of stage II COPD). I substituted natural anti-inflammatories and my breathing is better for it. What had been serious bronchitis abated. I continued to use DuoNeb and Zyrtec. But the real improvement was when a respiratory therapist suggested I take nebulized Mucomyst (acetylcisteine). I have not coughed one single time since I started using it and my FEV1 has improved 20 per cent.
Avatar f tn Hi huni2, I have asthma too. My doctor prescribed two types of inhalers for me. One of the medications is called Pulmicort. This medication I use once is the morning and once at night. The other medication is called Bricanyl Turburhaler. Some people also call it a " puffer" or an " inhaler". The Bricanyl I am instructed to use as needed, not every day. I can understand why you are hesitant or scared to take prednisone.
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
1580703 tn?1651904887 t said whether you are being treated for sleep apnea but if you have sleep apnea, which can be life-threatening and has many side-effects including heart disease, you should look into a sleep test. Also diamox is a diuretic so you may be becoming dehydrated if you are not consuming enough water.
212161 tn?1599427282 I use advair twice a day and combivent when my asthma kicks in and i don't notice much racing when i use em
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
1737159 tn?1316672635 I am not saying to stop using inhalers I am saying that there are known side effects! All prescription meds have some side effects. (I am not against prescriptions meds, I have quite a few different scripts for my health issues and I am thankful for how much they have helped me).
Avatar f tn I use a slightly hypertonic saline which I make myself and nebulize that. The result is not as dramatic, but it is more gentle and there are no side effects. (There are with acetylcysteine.
Avatar n tn ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Advair and Spiriva is a common combination of meds for COPD patients. However, you should also have a rescue inhlaer containing some form of albuterol. Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws.
Avatar n tn This is a good medication, but none thyat requires resading the PDR handout for side-effects thoroughly and periodic discussions with your health care provider as to how long to use it and under what circumstances. When the airways are twitchy you may need it 4 X a day, and when they are not once a day or not at all. Best to follow your physician's instructions. There are more inexpensive generics.
Avatar n tn It is unusual for a person to be taking oral prednisone for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), especially in a dose as high as 20 mg daily. That dose puts you at risk for a lot of steroid side effects, such as muscle weakness, bone thinning, cataracts, fragile skin, hypertension etc. You should ask your doctor why you need 20 mg of prednisone. You may also want to consult with a lung specialist about this and other inhaled medicines available to people with COPD.
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
Avatar m tn These include Albuterol, Flovent, Combivent, Spiriva, lasix, Diamox , Clariten and Nasonex. I follow a strict diet, no fatty , greasy, fried ,alcoholic or dairy. I elevate my head in bed and lay on my left side. I had test done which include upper and lower GI series, endoscope and a fluroscope. I do everything my Doctor tells me but I am still suffering . My Doctor also suggested that I lose weight.
Avatar n tn and the very common upper respiratory infecttion with allergic components and best recommendation is Smoke cessation, However, condition should be alleviated with some medications like telfast 120 mg tab, 1 tab once daily, Sinecod forte, 2x a day, increase fluid intake, bed resst, Nebulilization with ventolin nebules will help, 3x a day when needed. No antibiotic yet at this time.
