combivent

Avatar n tn Patients who are receiving systemic or nebulized formulations of beta-2 agonists, high dosages of inhaled beta-2 agonists, or systemic corticosteroid therapy may be at a greater risk of developing hypokalemia and hence best avoided. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn A saline nasal spray can moisturize the sinuses and possibly reduce the symptoms. Inhaled steroid/beta-agonist combos such as Symbicort are considered standard therapy for patients with frequent or severe COPD symptoms. Continue the Symbicort unless your physician tells you to stop using it.
Avatar f tn It has two active components a cortocosteroid (antiinflamatory) AND an LABA (long acting beta2 agonist that lasts 12 hours). Beta2 agonists are the broncho-dilaters. There are two kinds - long and short acting. Long acting forms are not recommend for use by asthmatics unless they are also being used with a corticosteroid as in Advair (Symbicort and Dulera as well). Short acting forms are a form of albuterol. They last about four hours and are considered the rescue inhaler.
Avatar n tn Ask your physician about prescribing Foradil Aerosolizer, a powder consisting of formoterol fumarate, 12 mcg, a long-acting beta-agonist, generally used twice a day. Some people tolerate this very well. Others have problems.
Avatar n tn According to the Combivent website, the only difference between Combivent MDI and COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is the delivery system.
Avatar n tn Serevent is indeed a beta-agonist and capable of causing tachycardia, especially in individuals who may be sensitive to the actions of this class of drugs. That may be the case with you. The terminal half life of salmeterol xinafoate (Serevent) is stated to be about 5-6 hours with total excretion in about a week.
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar m tn Several aspects should be considered while selecting an inhaler for asthma, such as the severity of your ailment, your age, personal preference, and any other health issues you could have. One possible solution for moderate asthma is to use a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) inhaler, which may provide rapid relief from symptoms.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?
5851092 tn?1404133464 Visken is pretty unique for being a beta blocker. It's actually kind of neat, as it is a beta receptor partial agonist, which means it can stimulate the beta receptors to a certain degree, but when adrenaline stimulation is high, the net effect will be a blocking effect. It's perfect in the setting of a low resting heart rate, as it will produce some stimulation and prevent the heart rate from dropping too low.
Avatar n tn Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent. I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.
212161 tn?1599427282 I use advair twice a day and combivent when my asthma kicks in and i don't notice much racing when i use em
376995 tn?1223515507 the doctor was going to start me on Beta blocker yesterday but he wasnt able to do it because i have asthma and am taking beta agonist-related drugs. is there any other ways to bring down my heart rate? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Asthma is quite uncommon at her age but some degree of what is called bronchial hyperreactivity (tendency to constrict) with COPD, is not. The betapace could blunt the beta-agonist stimulatory effect of Advair, on heart and lungs. To look at this another way, however, the beta-agonist effect of Advair might blunt the beneficial effect of the betapace. The cardiologist would be the best person to make a decision about this.
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar f tn 1. prostaglandin analogue 2. carbonic anhydrase inhibitor 3. beta blocker 4. alpha adrenergic receptor agonist Your father would need to be on all 4 types for maximum therapy. Additional therapy includes laser treatment and for the most severe glaucoma surgery hopefully using the new MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) techniques.
Avatar n tn Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Since it sounds like you are sensitive to the beta agonists, it might be worth a try with Atrovent, which is a like Spiriva, but s short acting and somewhat different formula. I would speak with your physician about this medication.
Avatar n tn the drug you are referring to (albuterol) is a beta 2 agonist (short acting). it is NOT a last resort by any stretch of the imagination. indeed, it is first line in any asthmatic symptoms. its action is to relax the smooth muscle walls of the airways allowing air entry and this is manifeted as a reduction in wheeze. the medication can be taken back to back quite safely, but when this point is reached we need to move up the ladder.
Avatar m tn t use LABAs as a first course of treatment for asthma, 2) DO NOT use LABAs to treat wheezing that is getting worse or sudden wheezing. Always have your short acting beta 2 agonist (albuterol or some form there of) with you. I hope that helps you.
Avatar m tn Your doctor should be able to clarify that and answer the question of safety vs. avoidance. In addition, only one type of inhaler called a beta agonist, which comes in a short-acting and a long-acting form, can lead to tachycardia or other abnormal heart rhythms. If what you have experienced is simply a rhythm called sinus tachycardia with a rate not much over 100 beats per minute, there would be little or no danger, especially if you have no underlying heart disease.
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
Avatar n tn This could be an atypical form of asthma. trying the beta agonist is not a bad idea. talk to your doctor about that. Consider getting pulmonary function test to rule out asthma. I don't think that this is cardiac at. It would be very unusual based on your age. The negative stress test further supports that, as well.
Avatar n tn You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution. Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
