I discovered my excercised induced asthma last year after 35 years of asthma torture(mine was caused by a severe chest infection when I was a Kid). first I tried Abuterol and it took about a week and it was an incredible relief , so I went back to my doctor and started taking Advair and took about a month to start working and I'm still taking it and it works great.

25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later. So if it were from tight muscles in my chest wouldn’t the Combivent not work because is affecting the lungs and not the muscles?

I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.

s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?

Spiriva is an anticholenergic used to treat various forms of COPD, but rarely asthma. The primary function of these medications is to reduce mucous in the respiratory system. They do have a mild broncho-dilating affect. I have not used Spiriva so I am unsure of its dosage, but I have taken ipratropium which is in the same class. As a neb solution it lasts 6 hours and as an MDI it last 4 hours. Check your prescription for dosing on this medication.

Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent. I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.

My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.

Hi huni2, I have asthma too. My doctor prescribed two types of inhalers for me. One of the medications is called Pulmicort. This medication I use once is the morning and once at night. The other medication is called Bricanyl Turburhaler. Some people also call it a " puffer" or an " inhaler". The Bricanyl I am instructed to use as needed, not every day. I can understand why you are hesitant or scared to take prednisone.

I've heard that theophylline can help sleep apnea and asthma and is related chemically to coffee. I'm also interested in trying xolair but read that it can increase risk of cancer.

I have 70% O2 during my sleep from asthma/apnea and I can't exhale during the day. I've tried symbicort, dulera, prednisone, combivent, diamox but my O2 is dangerously low when I have a bad sleep apnea night. I have resistance when I exhale. Is there a medication that can help like cromolyn or a COPD med? I tried spiriva but it didn't seem to do anything.

I have a now 22 month old son who was diagnosed last season with what we presume is asthma based on symptoms. It seems to be viral induced. This season came around and sure enough, when he got a cold it went straight to lungs (wheezing, SOB, coughing) We started inhaled steroid (budesonide), albuterol regimen again. Proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. Round of Orapred proved unsuccessful to resolve cough. After four months we consulted with Pulmonologist.

is there another option for asthma meds like theophylline or albuterol, xopenex, combivent without side effects as bad? singulair helps also. I'm interested in foradil, but is this the same med in symbicort?

I have had asthma for about 15 years and sometimes have to take prednisone and an antibiotic. I just did come off of those two meds a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping.

i am 29 years old and have asthma for which i take 100 mg of qvar 2puffs twice daily. for the last 4 days my heart is beating very very fast, it will not slow down, it is waking me up from my sleep and is really getting me down. i went to a&e and had a chest x-ray, and it was fine. then i had an ecg and that came back fine apart from my high heart race. my blood pressure was high but then was taken again immediately after and was deemed o.k.

I still have wheezing when I exhale but I still wheeze and squeak when I exhale. I take extra shots of my inhalers but it doesn't seem to help, maybe the nebulizer might.

re still having breathing problems, especially at night, ask for a temporary rescue inhaler so you can try to avoid trips to the ER. Asthma doctors are usually asthma AND allergy doctors, so work with one to figure out whether you have it, but also tackle the upper respiratory thing because that could be the source of all your trouble. Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.

Back in February my a long time diagnosis of asthma became severe asthma and I was told at that time I had viral bronchitis since then I have a lot of problems breathing on a nearly daily basis with a day here and there with no symptoms at all, also there’s very little mucus I only cough anything up in the morning every now and then not very often and I don’t wheeze either.

I am 50 year old female, with asthma (controlled at the present time) and I only take Theophylline and use Combivent Inhailers, if that makes any difference.

m wondering if anyone with asthma has had this. If it could be asthma or Something else.. The only other symptom of asthma I can think of is when I smoke outside during winter I feel like I'm wheezing., and completely outta breath if I do really physical workout.

Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?

Its a mild case of COPD and was prescribed Combivent as needed, I recently started having a burning in my left side lung, my pulmonologist felt it was acid reflux, I had no other acid reflux symptoms besides the burning throughout the day. I became ill feeling and felt I had the flu and went into the ER where the prescribed Azithromycin and Prednisone I was reluctant to take them as I do not take medicine unless its absolutely necessary, Not even a Tylenol.
