You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution. Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.

I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?

My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler? Are there other alternative that I and my doc should consider.

25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later. So if it were from tight muscles in my chest wouldn’t the Combivent not work because is affecting the lungs and not the muscles?

Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.

I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.

I stopped Advair because of serious choking that threatened my life. I have moderate COPD and am doing well on Duoneb (an nebulizing combination that contains albuterol) and an antihistamine. As for anything else I depend on natural supplements - vitamin B5, mullein extract, and MSM. I breathe more easily now than I have in two years. (Also Advair resulted in adrenal fatigue which I am now recovering from.

first I tried Abuterol and it took about a week and it was an incredible relief , so I went back to my doctor and started taking Advair and took about a month to start working and I'm still taking it and it works great. Before I use to take the inhaler and my coughing and shortness of breath and tightness would go away almost instantly. Now it's not helping and if it does it barely does anything. I'm thinking this medication isn't doing anything or helping me. I wanted to know what I should do. If I need to try other medications. I wanted to see if my doctor would think about duoneb? I got told it would be a big help if I did a few treatments a day.

Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws. However, since Combivent is unique, it may have gotten an exemption or extension. If you are an asthma patient, the use of anticholenergics like ipatropium and Spiriva for therapy is increasing.

" after you wrote i did some more research - evidently the preservative i'm allergic or sensitive to is "benzalkonium chloride BAC".

It is a constant problem even just using the Duoneb, and especially if I have to take any antibiotics. I'm, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both. I also use Clotrimazole 10 mg troche up to 5 times daily for the thrush in my mouth.

s over works (Renal doc explained it that way to me) and a slow heart beat 46+ average at rest (Have been tested multiply times by cardiologist and he cannot find a cause and says heart is healthy and not to be concerned) so also very concerned what taking Flovent everyday could make these problems worse.

As of now the only prescribed medicines I use are nebulized Duoneb or albuterol and nebulized Mucomyst (for congestion). Additionally I take natural anti-inflammatories.

I purchased the Omron Portable Ultrasonic Nebulizer and am using the vials of Albuterol and Ipratropium. I can only use 1/2 vial because more than that speeds my heart up too much. Can I save the last 1/2 of the vial for later use? Does anybody know of a more affordable way to get the medicine I need? I am paying out of pocket and this economy gets harder every day it seems like.

i am 29 years old and have asthma for which i take 100 mg of qvar 2puffs twice daily. for the last 4 days my heart is beating very very fast, it will not slow down, it is waking me up from my sleep and is really getting me down. i went to a&e and had a chest x-ray, and it was fine. then i had an ecg and that came back fine apart from my high heart race. my blood pressure was high but then was taken again immediately after and was deemed o.k.

My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110. Sorry so detailed, just wanted to convey that we have tried MANY approaches. He is still coughing. Albeit less frequently on some days, but still very bronchial cough. Wet, non productive. No drainage and No fevers EVER.

t been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping. What is going on for this to happen to me?
