I cut my left index finger on the second joint, its healed so there is no scab but the scar keeps callusing and it aches a little specially when i play bare chords on my guitar did it just heal wrong? might there be stuff in there still? or do calluses caused by cuts on your palm skin always keep callusing forever?
I guess I had some kind of infection at the same time because i had runny nose and felt like having a cold. At the same party few hours later, I almost lost my voice. I immediately stopped drinking and went home for a voice rest. I restrained myself from talking for few days. Since then my normal chest voice got better and doesn't feel any wrong but I still cannot sing anything in falsetto nor head voice.
Yet because of that I has the skill of making a guitar, trumpet, violin, cello, electric guitar, piano, and drums all with just my vocal chords alone =D If I get back to listening to smooth Jazz I should be able to reacquire the saxophone again =)
IF this ability is not limited to me, then there may be others who go undiagnosed for ASD because we can talk- my question would be: Is he good at reciprocal conversations?
I've had problems with my voice for over a year now. For a long time I thought of it as a mucus problem, possibly related to allergies. However, recently I've had many reasons to think it may be something else.
About 80% of the time I have some problem or other with my voice. It feels like my vocal chords are covered in thick mucus and I can't talk properly.
GERD can cause irritation to your vocal chords, but you need to see an ENT and have him scope your chords. When he scoped my chords they were fine, even though I did have GERD. I had a biopsy, they still could not tell if it was cancer. I am a singer, so hoarseness was not good, so I had 1/2 removed. Turned out I did have cancer, so I had a TT, then RAI. Don't ignore it, see an ENT.
ve had post-nasal drip, one cold with a cough that lasted about 8 weeks and now a constant tickling sensation in my chest, under and on either side of the breast bone. I also sometimes feel a tightness in my chest, not pressure or pain but discomfort, hard to explain.
The post--nasal drip is constant and annoying as well as the ticklish feeling.
I went to one doctor and he thinks allergies but I don't know-what could I be allergic to in the middle of the desert?
During my pregnancy in 2011 I experienced mild reflux. After the pregnancy I had a cold and developed hoarseness that did not go away on its own anymore. Three months later it was diagnosed that the hoarseness was due to (silent) reflux. I took Protonix for several months and the hoarseness went away completely. I also did not take any medication anymore. Two years later, this May, I had another cold that brought on the same hoarseness.
for the past 5 months on and off i have suffered from dry sores on the corners of my mouth after a while using cold sore lip cream it goes but then soon returns, its not contagious and not very painful but itchy and easy spreads and splits when i yawn !
I had the videostroboscopy, my vocal chords were strong and node-free...probably from good voice instruction. My longest stint for a hoarseness episode was 5 days, that is when I decided that they needed to come out, at least the side with three largest nodules in it. My largest was 2.1 cm, the other two were about 1 cm each...I also had swallowing difficulties and tired all the time, lost weight, brain fog. I had a lobectomy April 21, and my voice was pretty good just after the surgery.
My Husband made yellow rice beans and baked a roast. and for desert he made a vanilla ice cream mango .
I had my vocal chords damaged during intubation (2.5 hr. surgery). They kept telling me wait, it might be GERD, try this and that. Well, almost 2 years of suffering with a voice that sometimes was there and sometimes wasn't. It was very hoarse and I had trouble being heard. Next week I undergo "Direct Laryngoscopy" to remove vocal chord lesions. I have been told that I should have a 50% improvement in my voice and the lesions can come back.
This persisted for several days as I then began to develop spasms which I thought were bronchospasms which traveled up my throat and closed up my vocal chords making me appear to gag whenever I would speak. This has now gotten worse each day. I went to my doctor who gave me an inhaler which didn’t help. Several days later I went to the ER, they performed a CXR, EKG, and labs which were all normal. They gave me a Neb treatment which seemed to give me a little relief for several hours.
It's difficult to say exactly what's going on without examining you, but if your problem doesn't get better gradually, see your surgeon. There are a number of unusual situations where you can have issues after a trach tube is taken out.
ve had the worse anxiety ever this past week and have posted on this forum a few times. (wanted to jump out a window yesterday) Played Guitar Hero for about an hour in the morning and I must say it helped the symptoms some...couldn't focus on the chest pain as much while trying to beat my husband at this stupid game!
I AM going to make an appt with my dr. for sometime this week hopefully to discuss this severe increase in anxiety.
t increase HIV risk, but I learned that HSV-2 can cause cold sores on the face. Would that increase risk of getting HIV in the environment? I understood that it would not increase risk as I read a thread which said genital herpes would not increase risk of picking up HIV from secretions on a toilet seat.
I am now on medication for anxiety, but I have a fear of stepping on needles in the environment,however I read on these threads that even in a needle HIV wouldn't live long?
That's not dumb everyone is different. Are you going to pursue music in life?
it sounds like callus buildup. when i first started playing guitar my fingers would get extra skin that peeled, and after being around other musicians, i was told the fingers build calluses because of the strings, which explained why when i first started playing, my fingers were really sore, but once i got calluses, the strings didnt hurt my fingers anymore. i did end up with really thick calluses on my fingertips, but i loved playing guitar, so i didnt mind.
