That’s because the studies show that aspirin doesn’t reduce the risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke in healthy people.

Several weeks after I started it my total cholesterol was 158 and my HDL had increased from 37 to 48. I was expecting TC in the same range this year and perhaps a little better HDL. I was surprised that my TC was 110, LDL only 50, and HDL was 37. Although the HDL was lower, the ratio was tremendous.

My cholesterol is high but controlled with Creator and Niacin. I do not have high blood pressure. I am bi-polar and taking Depakote since 1994. These are my main concerns. Would you please answer nh questions for me. I really would appreciate it.
Avatar f tn I'm not speaking of anything bad, just healthier food intake, and less alcohol (if you drink) and obviously no smoking (if you smoke). Sometimes it seems as though there's a link down through the family (genetic) but often it's simply because we follow the same bad habits. My Mother died of heart disease, I got heart disease, but we both had high cholesterol and high blood pressure and both of us smoked. In most cases if you break those bad traits, you break the family history link.

Avatar f tn After the blockage was discovered thanks to a persistent PCP, and the stent inserted, I had chest pain afterwards. Was re-catheterized, all the major arteries were given a clean bill of health, but was placed on a beta blocker. Terrible reaction to the first one, put on a second one, and finally my cardiologist took me off that one as well. Although I see some improvement, I still have chest "aches" on exertion.
