There are no documented evidence that plavix causes stomach bloating. Plavix is a medication that helps prevent clot formation, and there is increased risk for excessive bleeding.
You can also take antacids and Omeprazole if you have reflux. Since you are having bruising, it can become serious, and hence talk to your treating doctor about dose adjustment.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination of mouth and treatment regarding stomatitis, deficiencies and reflux. Please do not self medicate.

ve eight stents and always was given a handful of Clopidogrel (Plavix) during the prep time before the surgery, and a couple of aspirins. They want the blood as thin as possible during the procedure to reduce the risk of stroke or arterial obstructions, obviously. I'd not be concerned and take the medication as asked.

I had two coated stents inserted March 22, 2010 and have been taking plavix, 81 mg aspirin and continue taking coumadin (5mg 6 days and 6 mgs 1 day a week). I have my blood tested for IN/PTR regularly. Since taking Plavix and aspirin I have severe bruising. I try to be careful but bruise just brushing against a doorway, for example. My dog was sitting on my lap and when he jumped off to the floor the pressure of lifting off caused bruising on both legs.
I would just keep to the medications prescribed and eat a healthy diet. The Clopidogrel is important for the Stent and the drug coating on the stent will help to inhibit the formation of scar tissue.
I am currently taking plavix, 81mg aspirin AND coumadin on a daily basis. I had a stent put in in July 2008 and triple by pass in 2006. I'm 64 and had my first MI at 33. My father died of an MI at 46, my EF is under 30%. My EP (at one hospital) just suggested I eliminate the plavix while my CHF specialist (at a nearby major research university) said I would be on plavix for a "long time" (forever?).
I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Well before any decision is made for something like Warfarin, you should have your INR (clotting factor) tested. An INR of 1 is how long normal blood takes to clot. An INR of 2 means it take twice as long and so it goes on. Aspirin and Clopidogrel (plavix) I believe attack the clotting mechanisms in different ways. Personally I don't think they know the long term outcomes.
New data show that when clopidogrel and omeprazole are taken together, the effectiveness of clopidogrel is reduced. Patients at risk for heart attacks or strokes who use clopidogrel to prevent blood clots will not get the full effect of this medicine if they are also taking omeprazole.
My problem is that i get these times that either i go to sleep and the doctors not been able to wake me up the next morn and im unresponsive to pain and verbal stimuli ie scoring gcs of 3.
My observations are ok but i can be bought round with oxygen too.

My father has gone thru angiplasy few months back and he started getting Red or purple spots on the skin. He is taking deplatt and atorvasatin. I heard this can be due to deplatt(Clopidogrel). Please let me know any treatment for the same . should we discontinue Clopidogrel. Is there any alternative for this medicine in india.
I have had angioplasty done 5 months ago and now I am on heart related medicines Nitroglycerin, Clopidogrel+Ecosporin and Atorvastatin. I wear artificial denture. Last month I had surgery for cataract in my eye. My evacuation system is working fine, although sometimes I miss a day or two.
