Avatar f tn t used much for blood pressure anymore. It is used in pain management, though, and also is given to people who are going through withdrawals. I have been on it for a while for pain management (along with other things.) I'm not sure if it does much as far as pain goes. It doesn't affect my blood pressure either way. If you trust your doctor, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You could always ask the pharmacist what their opinion is.
Avatar f tn Why won't your pain management doctor see you any longer? Going CT can be rough. What medications have you been on and at what dose? All narcotics produce some of the same withdrawal symptoms. Going CT isn't dangerous, unless you have any other underlying health conditions. If you do, you should talk things over with a doctor. For most narcotics, the worst of withdrawals last 3-5 days. Occasionally, someone will escape bad withdrawals, and occasionally, it can last longer.
Avatar f tn From that time I started having absolutely awful pain in the top of my head. In 2005 I had an MRI and it showed severe damage to c3 through c7. It wasn't until both my parents died that I could look for treatment. I finally had an operation January 26, 2011. Discs C3 through C7 were removed; donor bone inserted, synthetic fusion, plus a plate and screws. Well, about two months after the operation the pains returned.
Avatar m tn HOW DOES A DOCTOR KNOW WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO PAIN MANAGEMENT AND YOU CAN GET GET DROPPED FROM THE PAIN MANAGEMENT
970581 tn?1248407961 My mother has been prescribed many opiates for pain management for several years now. It has caused her some severe health issues, central sleep apnea, all kinds of stuff. Now they are checking for brain damage due to long term opiate abuse. She has been off all opiates for 22 days but had a 1 week suboxone taper. So now she has been off everything for 2 weeks. They did a drug test and she tested positive. Is it possible for some of this stuff to still be showing up on drug tests.
Avatar m tn four years ago for pain management, not for detox. It took me almost 2 years to taper of of subox, but when I got down to 0.25mg, the doctor put me on this Clonidine. Is my feeling good only because of this new medication? Am I going to need to taper off of something else now? WTF? I really need to know because I want to be off of any and all medications and not dependent on something else.
1162610 tn?1262829016 I went to see my pain management doctor today to talk about getting me off hydrocodone. So, he's prescribed clonidine: 0.1 mg tab, 2 times a day to help with the withdrawal symptoms. He's also prescribed Tramadol 50 mg tab, 4 times a day. I also told him I had been depending on the hydrocodone to get to sleep, so he prescribed Ambien to help with that too.
Avatar n tn I've been prescribed 10mg oxycodone and a 25mg fentanyl patch since an accident about 6 years ago. The only thing I seemed to be getting from my doctor was more prescriptions and no real resolution. I started making calls myself and I found a neurosurgeon and am waiting on my next appointment with him. I also asked my doctor to give me a referral for pain management. I am waititng to hear from them with an appoinment date now.

Avatar n tn Every day, a new complication. After about 4 months of using Clonodine patches, and changing it once a week as prescribed by my Pain Managment doctor, I started getting a severe skin reaction after only one day. Then, I would have to move the patch twice a day. My arm looks like a checkerboard with red, itchy patches. Well, the doctor said my skin developed an allergy to it and gave me a prescription for clonodine pills.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor offered to put you on Clonidine for the withdrawls? I work for a pain management practice and we can call in a script for Clonidine to help with the withdrawls. You might want to check into this. Good Luck! You can do it.
Avatar m tn and tell him you want off the pills that way he can instruct you in the proper use of the Clonidine.. It would be over in a 6 days with day 3 and 4 being the worst.. As you say you are going through wd symptoms right now.. Why not get it over with ? If you take a hot shower/bath it will help you to feel better for a little bit..
5135507 tn?1367163227 Hi, I was on the fentanyl patch, 75mcg every 48 hours and Percocet 10/650. My pain management dr was fired. Cannot find a dr even tho i've had 3 back surgeries. How can I detox off these drugs i've been on for 5 years? Does Clonidine help?

Avatar m tn My brother is in day two of detox from percs and T1's. He is in a lot of pain.....is this normal. He has underlying back pain which is being treated but seems twice as ba now. Is this normal?
6815927 tn?1395511425 Thank you for your response. Sounds like we have a lot of meds in common. Do you use the clonidine for pain control or opiate withdrawal? Same with the gabepentin? Do you think one works better than the other?
Avatar m tn After a severe wreck breaking my back I was sent to a pain management doctor in 2006. Started out with no education with opiates and other meds. Started out taking them as prescribed and them moving on the other ways for the quicker high I realized I was a full blown addict. The Dr was raising/changing my meds every several months. Anyways fast forward it to May 2010. I am trying to change my life around for many reasons.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar m tn I have been on 60mg of morphine er, two weeks ago I decided I had enough of these pain meds. It's been over 10 years that I have taken some kind of pain meds. I have pain and go to pain management doctor. morphine has been giving me headaches, it only took me 3 weeks to figure this out that one of the many headaches I have is from the morphine. I decided to wean of the morphine. First I shopped all fast acting morphine for about a month, then I when to 30ER in the AM and 60ER at night.
7857462 tn?1394795639 I want to have pain pump removed at my doctor's suggestion, I have been on this pump for nine years, she wants to put saline in it on next refill date in 3 weeks but I am terrified of going through withdrawal and my pain issues have yet to be fixed so I know I'll still be in a lot of pain as she has been slowly reducing the amount of dilaudid now and I have mobility pain and really bad leg pain at night.
Avatar f tn Congrats on getting off the pain meds!! Your pain may be increased right now due to rebound pain but it should get better the longer you go. This is always a time thing. I would discuss some non narcotic pain meds with your doctor due to your hep c.
Avatar m tn I have been taking buprenorphine, at the dose of 6mg/day, for pain management, for about 1 year. This last month, the pain relief from the medication has not been as effective, and I have ended up taking as much as 8mg to 10mg on some days. Consequently, my medication is running out 4 days earlier than expected, and I am concerned about not only the pain, but w/d's, because I think that I am now physically dependent on the drug.
Avatar m tn t believe you asked about OPANA ER! My Pain Management Doctor prescribed it for me 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I only took it for maybe 2 days, and not even at the dose HE prescribed. I got SO sick, and I never even thought abou the fact that I broke out on my face, neck, and chest! I just thought it was nerves because I was off all my pain meds...I gave the entire bottle of OPANA ER, all 240 tablets, minus the few I took Back to the doctor,,,,they made me SO SICK! and I DID get a rash!
Avatar m tn I took Clonidine for several days during detox. It really did make a difference in helping with my withdrawl symptoms. Helped to keep me calmer and in my skin. I also had a few tranzene that I took ( I cut them in halves ) . These two things along with the Immodium and otc pain meds were a hugh help for me.
Avatar f tn in the morning so did not stay on it...neurontine would help wds in many ways///and it is a safe drug...clonidine is not truly addictive in the sense we speak of...but a drug that can cause emergency situations..... Ur total oxy dose was 110 mgs daily...again..low BP is a concern with the clonidine and patches can not be controlled as they continually release/pill form can be more easily controlled as u can skip a dose if ur BP is low.....this is sumpin u need to refer to ur dr...
