Avatar f tn And yes for the last 6 months I have taken the medication, done what lab has been ordered, x-rays etc. But my blood pressure swings up and down. I can go from 150/110 to 220/134. My distolic never goes down lower then 110. I still (best way to describe it) is I get waken up by headaches about 1-3 in the morning. And by 2-3 in the afternoon I feel completly wiped out. Gaining weight but no fluid retention. I am at the point of just stopping the medication as at least I did not feel this tired.
198154 tn?1337787265 Clonidine worked great for me. Doc gave me .1mgs about 3 weeks worth. taken twice a day. No side effects for me being that I am 6'3" 225lbs. It takes alittle more for us Big Boys.
Avatar f tn Be careful not to think more is better because you will just drop your blood pressure and end up in the ER or worse. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication but is known to ease WD in very small dosages. Ok if prescribed by your doctor. I like patch better because you will not try to take more to make you feel better, Good luck..
Avatar m tn It IS a pain to have to anything extra while detoxing but it IS important to know what your normal blood pressure is so please take the time to check it. Of course, during active opiate use, your blood pressure will read lower than it normally would. I have used it at home for detox at .05 mgs at a time with good results. .1 Mgs was too much for me at 5'6" x 115 pounds so use your common sense if a doctor is not available. Be safe!
Avatar f tn Clonidine was initially used as an antihypertensive but it has come to be used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders including tics, symptoms of ADHD, aggression, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, or sleep problems. Medication of this sort can be helpful and has shown to be most effective in conjunction with systematic behavioral programming.
Avatar f tn It is a medication for high blood pressure but lots of people use it to help with opiate withdrawals, so it depends. What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?
417564 tn?1287982827 From what Steven was told, the lady who has it is 45yrs.old with low blood pressure....why she said only 1 per night, I think normally the dose os higher....correct? I will make a call to the dr.and check out what is said. The sweats/chills are very bothersome as many of you know...this lady was given this coming off alot of morphine. Apparently it will get rid of that.....
Avatar f tn Hey, i used it in sub detox and it was fantastic !! Unfortunantly, 3 isnt going to get you through a detox. You would be better getting a script from your doctor who can tell you how much to take, and how often. Yes, its a blood pressure tablet, that doctors found to help drug withdrawals imensley.
349859 tn?1257790973 Get it from a doctor and be truthful for what you want to use it for. Get a blood pressure monitoring kit to measure the blood pressure before taking it. Also, do you have a support person? As someone else said, the medicine really made me sleepy which was actually a good thing. It would have been very bad if I would have taken it when my blood pressure was already low. A person could go to sleep and their heart would stop. This is the danger you are playing with. Get it right.
880900 tn?1467270141 Talk to the Dr about the Clonidine. He had me on that too, but he has to check out your blood pressure. And it DID help with sleeep. Read my recent post on how I'm beating a heavy Diluadid (hydromorphone) use: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/To-people-Quitting-Diluadid-or-any-hardcore-Opiate/show/951302 If you are in week two, you should be exercising if you can. That and Hot Epson salt baths with the Klonopin will get you sleep.
Avatar f tn My Dr. wants to bring in another Blood Pressure pill ( clonidine) If i spelled that right. Do any of you all take this combo?? Just wondering if all of these made your blood pressure drop too low? Thanks for input!
Avatar f tn Clonidine is a powerful drug///not addicting but can affect ur blood pressure drastically//should be used under a dr's care It slows the body down and helps sleep, anxiety and the runs....and should be stopped when physical wds has passed...if a person takes it longer than a couple of weeks it needs to be stopped a bit slowly//not for the same reasons other drugs do...but cos of body adjustment a person with a low BP during wd should beware of clonidine...
Avatar f tn Good to know.....thanks for your help...
Avatar m tn My father came from Vietnam and is 80 yrs old. His blood pressure fluctuates so much that his doctor would not permit him leaving town visiting his family. So, he is miserable and depressed. Would you please help? Thanks. His blood pressure fluctuates from 120/70 then 190/94 (3-4PM). So, he takes 1/2 of Clonidine HCL (0.1mg) then it drops to 58/47... eventually it comes back to 120/70 at night.
Avatar m tn I know it's a little slow @ today..I have never taken clonodine..but I have heard it helps a bit..as long as your blood pressure doesn't get too low..I am glad your surgery went well...last week??? wow..i am gald your doing good..someone will be along to answer your question..eventually..
656243 tn?1231288052 Some confusion. He was speaking about Clonidine, a blood pressure medication used off label to control mood disorders. Klonopin is an anti-anxiety medication which is a benzodiazepene. I have been on it for years. The only risk is the potential of building up a tolerance to it which has been of concern in me as I have had to gradually up the dose with my psychiatrists permission. But generally its safe long term.
401095 tn?1351391770 For me, the clonodine made me really tired. I could only take it at nighe or when i was going to sleep. It will make you weak and tired, but it will help with chills and anxiety....its a good help to w.d.....
Avatar f tn Yes, anyone taking Clonodine should check their blood pressure a few times a day. I find that a whole pill will knock me on my ars. Sometimes a tiny little piece will be enough to help with withdrawal symptoms. Keep up the good work.
Avatar f tn clonidine is originally for high blood pressure, and since the high bp causes a lot of the withdrawal symptoms (racing heart, sweats, etc) the Clonidine is suppose to lower your bp and help with these symptoms. It is possible your bp is dropping too low. Do you have a blood pressure cuff and have you talked to your doctor? You can go to a walgreens/walmart and have blood pressure taken as well.
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar f tn When my systolic blood pressure goes to over 200, should I go to the hospital. I take 40 mg. of Lisinopril twice per day; Diovan 320mg - twice per day and Clonidine HCL 0.2 mg at bedtime. My Nephrologist wants me to take the Clonidine in the mornings also, but I cannot function - I am too dizzy and weak. I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone had any experience with withdrawals and the flu. I made an appointment with my doctor to try clonidine on Monday morning but on Sunday evening I came down with the flu my son had the week before. I took my last pill (20mg oxy 4 a day for 1 year) about the same time the flu started so I know it's not w/d. I am now on day 2 clean and it has been the worst 2 days of my life.
Avatar f tn I always had low blood pressure until the rapid detox and that seemed to take care of low blood pressure. It seemed to take the edge off and my heart was racing and it stopped that. I wouldn't start on any med like that without a doctor and for the life of me I cannot remember why the clonidine is the blood pressure med to use. ( My brain is still not working well.) You do need to monitor you blood pressure if you are taking it. Talk with your doc.
Avatar m tn You should take them as prescribed by your doctor..generally .1mg 3x day is what is prescribed. DO NOT EXCEED THE DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS as you could find your blood pressure drops too much and you pass out. I started taking them the day after I took my last vicodin (120+ days ago) and never took another vicodin. Clonidine helps immensely with a number of the symptoms. However, they will make your mouth dry and could make you very lethargic and tired.
473384 tn?1210206242 Clonidine helps with the sweats and GI problems with WDs..it slows your body down a bit and helps the anxiety as well...like penelope said...
Avatar f tn blood pressure was my first thought...do get it checked...withdrawl can cause an increase in bp...especialy a tough wd...feel for u and be safe...
