my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that.
didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Clonidine works great......and congrats on getting ur life back....I can't believe the difference off drugs.. amazing.....u can do this its well worth it...hang in there....be tough its worth it....
My doctor tried all the drugs you see on TV and in the end I am taking 10mg oxy 3 times a day and .1mg of clonidine 4 times a day. I have tried going a day only taking one of the drugs but only get relief by taking both. While still being on oxy is not the best I did reduce my intake. I was on 30mg oxy 4 to 5 times a day at my highest dose.
t get home until the 13th. That night I was put on nuerontin and a clonidine pill and saw my doc the next day.
She called in a clonidine patch which I couldn't get until Tuesday and told me to take the neurontin. I was in major pain with the leg problems and so on so she upped the dose of neurontin but darned if I can remember when. I am pretty loopy.
Of course she is off this next week.
I have been dizzy and so tired but don't know if it is the clonidine or neurontin or both!
Neurontin can stop the RLS symptoms and help with pain. It is a prescription and I was told you should start low and then build on the medication. However, it all depends on what your doctor thinks.
It worked for me, however, it did have some side effects and I can't take it anymore.
It did get me through the RLS as well as the pain from the withdrawal.
There are some over the counter things you can try and for some, these medications seem to work very well.
Will clonidine help me with withdrawal ? I have had 5 operations on my hip and have been prescribed oxycontin and hydromorphine for over a year. I tried getting off them but can't do it as the symtoms are terrible..Will clonidine help me? My medical dr has prescribed them to me and I havent tried them yet as I need some input on them.
d been meaning to taper off and quit anyway, and had tapered, and gone back up, and tapered, and gone back up, but since I screwed the management up so badly this time, it strikes me that this would be a pretty good time to do it, to quit completely, since obviously the tapering is not within my power. I work from home and can avoid work for the next three days.
I was on 5 pecocets a day and hysingla er 60 mg but kept running out if the Percocets. I ran out two weeks early. I was honest with my dr and he put me on clonidine 3 pills a day for 3 days and a patch. It worked I almost feel like my old self. When he refills my meds next week I'm going to not take them unless I am in extreme pain. Learned my lesson!
My experience with Benicar was that it would drop my BP significantly, but only after several hours, after which I would be more fatigued and with so much joint pain that all I felt like doing was lying down until the Benicar wore off. Benicar was NOT a good fit for me. MY EXPERIENCE was that the low BP numbers mentioned were EXACTLY why I was so damn fatigued.
anyone know how long the clonidine patch takes to start working, I started using it last night for opiate withdrawls. 6 yrs. of use and it is time to end this vicious cycle; i was taking 60 mg. methadone for a back problem a day. today is day 2.
Im not sure who said it but. I think the reason I was so weak up to this point was the clodine...BP too low and pulse. So thankyou for that advice...I actually feel abit stronger and Im sure sleep will follow!!! Im on my way!!!

I am working on getting off the pain meds and put on something less addictive, My choice. My doctor has me trying 0.1mg Clonidine along with all the other stuff I take. He told me to break them in half at first. He was saying I should not get sleepy from this. Is this true? Also I take 1 30mg tab in the morning and halves to little less than half about 2 or 3 hours there after of the pain med. When is a good time to take the Clonidine ? Any advise would be great thank you.
Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery,nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. The vitamins and amino acids can really help with getting some energy, but thats all up to you. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this!
