I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
My 2 year old got a Stye last week and my husband took him to the Dr. He was prescribed Clindamycin. This seems very strong to me and I don't really see much on the internet as this being something prescribed. Can you tell my why this might be prescribed by a doctor in a pediatric patient with his first stye?

So my LLMD has me on the following medications: Amoxicillin, Clindamycin, and Capadex (for my stomach problems). My dosage of the antibiotics are very high and I will be taking it for about 2 months. He believes I may H pyelori as well as Lymes because of my reoccurring ulcers. I am getting a more sensitive test for h Pyelori as well. I am also taking or about to Amrix for muscle pain. Has anyone taken this?
I was prescribed clindamycin after experiencing pain in my tooth after a root canal. I took a double dose (600mg) of clindamycin as I missed a dose. I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. Hi, I took Clindamycin 300 mg 3x a day. I only finished 12 out of 21 pills as I feared the high risk of colitis associated with this drug. My question is that after stopping the medication about 3 days ago, I am having long (6"+), loose stools. Could this be c. diff? I also have a lot of gas throughout the day, some mild abdominal pain too.
I assume that your daughter’s antibiotic therapy is being managed by a pediatric infectious disease (ID) specialist; if not, you should seek such consultation. You would also want to ask the ID specialist if there might be an alternative antibiotic to vancomycin, such as linezolid, if that medicine were deemed appropriate for a 2½ year old child.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
They calledme bavk Wednesday to tell me that I tested positive for chlamydia. They prescribed me Clindamycin. The dosage is 300mg 4 times a day for 7 days. But I can't take it. It makes me so sick and makes me feel like my throat is swelling closed. Anybody else experienced this? Or know what else I can take? I'm going to call my OB in the morning. But I'm scared they are going to tell me that there is nothing else for me. Ugh.
Those are safe for him at 1/2 human adult dose. Simethicone (the active ingredient in gas-x) also comes in a pediatric form. If you get the pediatric form dose to effect. Hiccups are due to spasms of the diaphragm, however and getting rid of gas may not be effective, but it is worth a try.
Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important.
I urge you to at least call your dentist for approval before you treat a dental abscess yourself.
Amoxicillin may be fine, but you may need something like clindamycin instead.
Also, it's very important that a FULL dose is taken for dental infections.
After another round of tests and a visit to my LLMD, he pronounced my kidneys "back to normal." Yay!! He upped my dose of clindamycin and said in a month to switch to doxy. He wanted to wait until we're further into fall weather as I am very fair skinned. First time I will have taken doxy, and it'll be just shy of a year from diagnosis.
I feel every dosage increase and new antibiotic I take.
We are in NC and fortunately have been referred to a great pediatric Endo at Duke. I have seen mention of Pediatric Endo at Texas Childrens Hospital (not sure how far that is for you). We will be starting medication as soon as our local pharmacy can get it in. I hope she responds well. I have been looking into the possibility of Thyroidectomy or Radioiodine Treatment if indicated.

t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
He put me on different multiple month long trails of clindamycin, bactrim ,Levofloxacin, doxycycline, and and all of them did the same thing, while on them the symptoms go away but as SOON as i finish the dosage the symptoms come right back. He even did test on me where he put me to sleep and looked in my penis with a tiny camera. as well as sent me to a lab where they tested to see if their was a blockage to see if something was blocking my pee passageway. nothing.
