I was just curious, I have a buddy that mentioned that he had been having some urinary symptoms such as minor burning, the dosent happen every time he urinates, clear discharge in small amounts, and some minor soreness in the urethra. Im not to sure whether its a uti, or maybe an std. He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed.

Also, I had urinalysis dipsticks in the house and tested myself to see if I had UTI symptoms caused by possible chlamydia (white blood cells in urine, nitrates, etc) and it was all clear.

The next week my doctor switched me to clarithromycin for my throat. 27 days after the encounter while still taking clarithromycin for my throat infection, I began to have symptoms for chlamydia/gonorrhea. I have not had any discharge or pain/burning while urinating but I have had pain/tickle in my urethra after urination along with pain while driving??

Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all.

On the 13th of December, I went to see a urologist as I had had some UTI-type symptoms for a week or so (I didn't suspect Chlamydia or any STD for that matter at the time, as I have had few sexual partners, and always use condoms - also not a big fan of receiving oral sex).
So, had brief encounter with sex worker. I am a male and she a female, just for clarity and accuracy of response though I'm confident that this is irrelevant. In any case, I received oral sex lasting only a couple minutes then shortly after completed with handjob. Anyway, that night I had extreme regrets as this not something I regularly do, only once before. So in my anxious state, I thought it best to be proactive and see if I could prevent any full infection from developing.
It has come back. This time it recurred very briefly 3 weeks ago after some anti-biotics (clarithromycin) I had taken for 7 days. Then 1 week ago the problem came back a bit worse. No bacteria was found on a full urine test. It was perfect. Now I don't get the burn with peeing, though there is a slight burning/hot sensation in my bladder. But if I ejaculate there's a burn afterwards - which is immediately after, then 1 minute later before it calms down.
As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act?
There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?
About a month ago I was prescribed a course of Clarithromycin for a skin infection. Since taking the drug I've suffered huge surges of adrenaline, which kicks in like a lighting shot at the point of sleep. It kept me away many nights and I was beside myself with worry. It's now more than three weeks since I stopped the medication (I only completed 2.5 days out of 7) and I find that the adrenaline surges have subsided somewhat.

Hi, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection a few weeks ago and prescribed a z-pack, which I took with no issues. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I have no signs of any symptoms on my penis. Yesterday 3/20/09 I was prescribed clarithromycin er 500 for 7 days for a sinus infection. After reading a lot on the internet it appears that EVERY STD can be obtained through oral sex which I was not aware. If I were your patient, what advice would you recommend? Will the anti biotic prescribed for my sinuses deal with any bacterial std I may have caught or could it suppress the symptoms?
She said it was not possible oral swab to be done at that clinic (just genital). She decided to start a treatment (clarithromycin and ceftriaxone) for gonorrhea (without testing and diagnosis). I hope it works if I have oral gonorrhea. Sorry to bother you. I am just worried.
I have just competed a course of clarithromycin, and continue to have nausea, salivation, and a gnawing feeling in my stomach. These symptoms are very similar to those I had while pregnant, ie morning sickness, but all day.
I finished the drug 3 days ago.
Will these symptoms ever stop?
