Flash forward and it has morphed into prostatitis, urethritis, epidydimytis, strange vascular symptoms on my penis and testicles (apparently thrombophlebitis - had that since the first month of infection). My glands are up in my groin but the doctors are having a hard time finding an infection. STDs are notorious for finding ways to evade detection and considering the infection reacted extremely badly to antibiotics, i believe a microbe is causing these problems. Any help?
We’ve been married 10 years now and aside from the one oral sex incident neither of us has been with any other people sexually. I went to the doctor who dismissed an STD and gave clarithromycin. Two weeks after finishing the antibiotics, I still had this drip after urinating but less discomfort so I got tested for gonorrhea and Chlamydia again—both negative.
Here are my questions:

Welcome to the Forum As I read your post, your only unprotected exposure was performing oral sex on one of your partners. This would not cause either the urinary tract or anal symptoms that you have noted. When condoms are applied prior to sex and do not break, condom protected sex is safe sex and not associated with meaningful risk for infection. (Incidentally, if the condoms used appeared intact following sex, they were- when condoms fail they break wide open.
Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all.
Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.
One 1 dose pill to treat Clamydia (not sure of the name), then two pills to take for seven days (got this treatment twice), then levaquin for 10 days, then clarithromycin or something of the sort for a 14 day period. Still, I have symptoms of itching. Not as much of the burning during urination and if anything there is only clear-ish discharge but I can't tell if that's from what I have.
So, had brief encounter with sex worker. I am a male and she a female, just for clarity and accuracy of response though I'm confident that this is irrelevant. In any case, I received oral sex lasting only a couple minutes then shortly after completed with handjob. Anyway, that night I had extreme regrets as this not something I regularly do, only once before. So in my anxious state, I thought it best to be proactive and see if I could prevent any full infection from developing.
I went through a series of medications with multiple primary care physicians and urologists. Antibiotics (10 days of Doxycycline, 1 month of Clarithromycin/Amoxicillin). 2 weeks of Flucanozole, 1 month of Lamusil Antifungal cream on penis glans. 1 week of Nystatin. On and off with anti-inflammatories.
Also experiencing sensation of sitting on a golf ball in the perirectal area at times. GP did not seem concerned, no tests, but gave me clarithromycin/metronidazole 10 day dose and symptoms(mostly penile tip pain sometimes hours at a time) still persist.
Could you please offer advise as to whether this could be a ureaplasm or myco? No way this is NG/Chlam right?
Do I need any further tests,treatments,follow up?? My GP does not seem to be an expert in this area .

Unfortunately in week 6 of treetment my urological symptoms came back with big severity. My urologist says I have non-bacterial prostatitis (per rectum exam hurt) because abx killed everything there but alfa blocker do not help.
A week ago when I added Rifampin everything went away for 4 days but now is back...
1.Any Ideas?

3.Yeast (I'm on strict diet and antifungals) in prostate?

As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.

But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter.
Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act?
There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?
prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?
About a month ago I was prescribed a course of Clarithromycin for a skin infection. Since taking the drug I've suffered huge surges of adrenaline, which kicks in like a lighting shot at the point of sleep. It kept me away many nights and I was beside myself with worry. It's now more than three weeks since I stopped the medication (I only completed 2.5 days out of 7) and I find that the adrenaline surges have subsided somewhat.
Hi, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection a few weeks ago and prescribed a z-pack, which I took with no issues. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I didn't want to take it right away, just in case I had a similar reaction.

I have no signs of any symptoms on my penis. Yesterday 3/20/09 I was prescribed clarithromycin er 500 for 7 days for a sinus infection. After reading a lot on the internet it appears that EVERY STD can be obtained through oral sex which I was not aware. If I were your patient, what advice would you recommend? Will the anti biotic prescribed for my sinuses deal with any bacterial std I may have caught or could it suppress the symptoms?
She said it was not possible oral swab to be done at that clinic (just genital). She decided to start a treatment (clarithromycin and ceftriaxone) for gonorrhea (without testing and diagnosis). I hope it works if I have oral gonorrhea. Sorry to bother you. I am just worried.
