Having dark green diarrhea after antibiotics may be from CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE overgrowth. This bacterium is normally present in the colon, but when antibiotics kill some other normal bacteria, C-diff overgrow and causes diarrhea. This is potentially dangerous disease, you MUST have a stool test for C-diff and if positive, treat it immediately, well - with other antibiotics, as prescribed.

There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

During the year prior to admission, the patient had developed recurrent diarrhea and abdominal pain and demonstrated toxic levels of colchicine on two occasions. It is likely the patient had acute colchicine toxicity brought on by the addition of erythromycin and superimposed on chronic colchicine intoxication secondary to renal and hepatic impairment. All they found was mild gastritis in my duodendum. All this time, I was not throwing up or having diarrhea, but my bowel movements were much more looser and less solid. I never threw up, though. Recently (the last week), the symptoms lessened a lot and my bowel movements became normal. I saw the doctor 3 days ago and he says he has seen this before...
He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. Two days ago, I completed a 7-day course of antibiotic treatment (clarithromycin for Bartholin's abscess). Now I am experienciing stomach pains and nausea. Could this be an after effect of the antiobitcs? I don't get sick often, and haven't thrown up in years. All of this is quite disconcerting, but, is it normal?

Hi, I was diagnosed with a sinus infection a few weeks ago and prescribed a z-pack, which I took with no issues. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I didn't want to take it right away, just in case I had a similar reaction.
