Avatar f tn I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Clarithromycin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin. Still on Day 2 (only 24 post exposure) took 500mg Clarithromycin ER. The next day, today took Amoxicillin 500mg & Clarithromycin ER 500mg & Ceftiaxone 1gm IV (prefer not to explain but I am in healthcare).
Avatar m tn But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter. Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act? There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time. Thanks for your responses!
Avatar m tn During the year prior to admission, the patient had developed recurrent diarrhea and abdominal pain and demonstrated toxic levels of colchicine on two occasions. It is likely the patient had acute colchicine toxicity brought on by the addition of erythromycin and superimposed on chronic colchicine intoxication secondary to renal and hepatic impairment. The patient improved with supportive therapy and intensive hemodialysis and was discharged on day 70 of hospitalization.
Avatar m tn This bacterium is normally present in the colon, but when antibiotics kill some other normal bacteria, C-diff overgrow and causes diarrhea. This is potentially dangerous disease, you MUST have a stool test for C-diff and if positive, treat it immediately, well - with other antibiotics, as prescribed. Burping may be the symptom in another problem - H. pylori infection of your stomach, which may be confirmed by a breath test.
Avatar m tn Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all. Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.
Avatar m tn He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?
Avatar f tn Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? How long should I wait to engage in intercourse with my significant other?
Avatar m tn It was two weeks on omeprazole, clarithromycin and Metronidazol for two weeks. The original pain I was having was heartburn, bloating and a pain on my side just under my rib cage. The antibiotics gave me diarrhea several times each day. I still have the diarrhea, as well as the heartburn and pain on my side. is this pain on my side something else? A hernia? A really bad ulcer? Or is this a sign that the treatment didn't work if I'm experiencing the exact same pains.

Avatar n tn Some syphilis bacteria are resistant to all macrolide antibiotics -- azithromycin, clarithromycin (Biaxin), and erythromycin. These strains are common in some geographic areas and apparently absent in others. Unfortunately, the technology to determine resistance is complex and expensive, and therefore data are not available from most geographic areas.
Avatar f tn My mother (51 years) has been diagnosed with antral gastritis and also got a positive result for the presence of Helicobacter Pylori. She has been prescribed with Mox 250mg( Amoxycillin capsules), Maclar 250mg( Clarithromycin), omeprazole tabs. Will it be sufficient for the cure with regular dosage or please suggest any additional measure.

Avatar n tn abscessus, and current expert opinion recommends clarithromycin monotherapy for localised cutaneous disease, and combination therapy including clarithromycin and parenteral agents for treatment of disseminated infection, pulmonary infection or extensive cutaneous disease.1,11 Many isolates of M. abscessus are sensitive to amikacin, tobramycin and imipenem, and these antibiotics are often used in combination with clarithromycin as initial therapy for extensive or disseminated M.
Avatar m tn Today, the standard triple therapy is amoxicillin, clarithromycin and a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole. At times, probiotics have been used. A patient with gastritis, or peptic/duodenal ulcers may also have the presence of H-pylori. You can read about it here (copy and paste the URL into your web browser.): http://h-p-bacteria.blogspot.com/ Good luck! And let me know how you are doing!

Avatar m tn I came back to the doctor 5 days later after finishing my meds because they had no effect on my symptoms. I was then given the same 2 shots and prescribed a 10 days course of Clarithromycin(which I just finished yesterday). Over the last week or so, my symptoms have gotten mildly worse. My tongue is in constant mild pain, and the swelling has gotten so bad (although it doesn't hurt that bad) at points that it has developed lacerations on the side and started bleeding.
1138687 tn?1548643978 oral amoxicillin, azithromycin, cefuroxime, clarithromycin [=Biaxin], doxycycline, and tetracycline. These antibiotics have similar favorable results in comparative trials of early Lyme disease." In any event, I would not delay in seeking medical care. Good for you for jumping on the situation -- let us know what you do and how you do, okay?
Avatar f tn If you are not just recent infected, doxy alone will not do the trick, and clarithromycin may well not either. There are reasons for this that have to do with the bacteria finding ways to hide in your body where these regular meds can't find them. That's the stuff an LLMD knows. Keep trying with the docs -- best wishes -- keep us posted!
Avatar m tn prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?
