Husband had gastroscopy on 23/10/13. Biopsy taken but not got results yet. Gastroscopy showed h pylori gastritis and a presence of excess bile in the stomach. Triple therapy antibiotics prescribed (lansoprazole, amoxi and clarithromycin), he says he feels a lot better, but i'm worried sick.
I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Clarithromycin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin. Still on Day 2 (only 24 post exposure) took 500mg Clarithromycin ER. The next day, today took Amoxicillin 500mg & Clarithromycin ER 500mg & Ceftiaxone 1gm IV (prefer not to explain but I am in healthcare).
But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter.
Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act?
There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

Clarithromycin isn't the treatment of choice for any STD. However, it would effectively prevent most cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). But not all.
Antibiotics, including clarithromycin, have no effect on viruses and therefore cannot prevent herpes, HPV, or HIV.
He had some left over clarithromycin 500 mg about 10 days worth and he began taking that. I told him he should just get tested but he dosent have insurance currently and is unemployed. He said even if I have an std clarithromycin should clear it up its a very strong anti-bacterial antibiotic. Is this true?
Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? Hi my name is jennifer I been taking antibiotics for the past 2 weeks, Omeprazole 20 mg, Metronidazole 500 mg and Clarithromycin 500 mg and also I been taking my birth control pills for the past 3 weeks (Jolivette).
I jus found out today I am pregnant. I'm concer with the health of the unborn baby. I am worry if the any possibility of births defects and any other problem related to the medications.
She said it was not possible oral swab to be done at that clinic (just genital). She decided to start a treatment (clarithromycin and ceftriaxone) for gonorrhea (without testing and diagnosis). I hope it works if I have oral gonorrhea. Sorry to bother you. I am just worried.

t have any effect on it and I had to use prednisone.Few years ago started using allopuinol which took care of problem with also eliminating alcohol and drinking more fluid.I believe the incivek causes your uric levels to increase which would really play havoc on your gout unless under control. I just finished with the incivek portion and had no problem. Of course one reason may have been the fact of not eating as much protein and drinking more water than normal.I hope you have an easy tx.
I am thinking now, of leaving 4 weeks since the last test, and retest after a month of low fat diet, no alcohol and no painkillers. I am using Bromelain, Green Tea and Milk Thistle supplements and drinking alot of water and tea.
Can you give me any advice please and would be very grateful. Am I taking the right approach?

My mother (51 years) has been diagnosed with antral gastritis and also got a positive result for the presence of Helicobacter Pylori. She has been prescribed with Mox 250mg( Amoxycillin capsules), Maclar 250mg( Clarithromycin), omeprazole tabs. Will it be sufficient for the cure with regular dosage or please suggest any additional measure.
I´ve been having this problem for 10 months now... they get better or worse somedays and definitely they go away with clarithromycin, but I cannot take it forever.
Any opinion?

Hi I started triple therapy for h pylori last Tuesday evening. Amxocilian and clarithromycin are my two antibiotics, two x's daily for 10 days. I was scheduled to start my period yesterday (Sunday)5 days after taking the antibiotic pills and have not be late for over two years of taking the pill. I am taking Ortho tri cyclen. I also came down with a cold yesterday. Is it normal to be late?
The second urethreitis appeared after 1 day after oral sex and a big amount of alcohol (Chlam and Gon ruled out after testing done 4 days later). The third urethretis was triggered also by alcohol 5 weeks after the first during which I obstained from sex.
I have just 3 quick questions and I promise not to bother you any more (I'll just post my results next week when I get them).
Can I have Candidal UTI due to the antibiothics use and alcohol(sugar) as a trigger?

I came back to the doctor 5 days later after finishing my meds because they had no effect on my symptoms. I was then given the same 2 shots and prescribed a 10 days course of Clarithromycin(which I just finished yesterday). Over the last week or so, my symptoms have gotten mildly worse. My tongue is in constant mild pain, and the swelling has gotten so bad (although it doesn't hurt that bad) at points that it has developed lacerations on the side and started bleeding.
If you are not just recent infected, doxy alone will not do the trick, and clarithromycin may well not either. There are reasons for this that have to do with the bacteria finding ways to hide in your body where these regular meds can't find them. That's the stuff an LLMD knows.

prescribed the triple therapy which consists of Lanzoprazole 30 mg, Amoxicillin 500 mg and clarithromycin 500 mg. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of amoxicillin (500mg) every 12 hours but it was supposed to be two pills (1g) according to FDA and other resources. I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, How long do I wait before I take another test to see if the bacteria is gone or not?
I took one dose of clarithromycin in a PrevPac yesterday (first day) and I started having chest pains last evening, anxiety (suicidal thoughts), weakness, couldn't think, etc..I'm stopping immediately. Just continuing with the Amoxicillin.
Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. If cough is due to reflux, this will help you.
Otherwise you will need X-ray chest and spirometry to rule out COPD. If this is the case then you will need treatment with bronchodilators, steroids and maybe antihistamines. Please consult your treating doctor. Take care!
